343i's logic: Super Slayer Community maps

I’m trying to understand the logic behind 343i’s recent removal of some Community maps from Super Slayer. Who was it aimed at pleasing?

Obviously, not those players, such as me, who like the Community maps.

So it must have been aimed at those players who dislike the Community maps. Right? Not from what I can see! They left at least 5 of the Community maps in the playlist. So, you might say, well at least that reduced the amount of times Community maps show up. However, it seems they show up just as often as they did before. The third voting slot seems to always have one. So the appearance of Community maps apparently has not decreased; this can’t be pleasing to those who are opposed to them. Only the number of choices for those who want to play on them has decreased, and this just makes the pro-Community maps players like me unhappy.

So whom did they please? Their logic defies me.

What maps were removed, I haven’t touched Super Slayer in a while.

I’ll type up something once I know which were removed.

Maybe the specific maps were just crap?

Dont lump all community maps into one.

I’m guessing maybe it was based on voting data? Which I don’t really understand, because if they are not ever being voted for, the only people playing them are the people that really want to play that particular map. And it’s not like there’s a cost associated with keeping maps in Matchmaking. It seems like the same logic that got Pinnacle and Uncaged removed from SWAT for no apparent reason.

If so, why were they only removed from Super Slayer and not Team Slayer also, considering they are meant to be clone playlists, the only difference being TU settings & party search restrictions.

Hm I dont know. Perhaps at this point theyre just trying to minimise opportunity for whining.

Won’t be long before MLG is the only playlist :stuck_out_tongue:

Lol that list might have more whining than any other.

Squad Slayer didn’t have community maps. Super Slayer replaced Squad Slayer, so community maps were removed from Super Slayer to replicate Squad Slayer.

They pleased people who see the community maps for the complete and utter -Yoinking!- garbage they are, Enclosed and Synapse aside.

Enclosed and Synapse > Sword Base

Not setting the bar very high there.

That said I’d gladly take Sword Base over Eden Minor, Renova, Think Twice, Select, Kingdom, Treasury, Rebirth, and Atom (if that’s still around). Those maps are just pathetic.

I’ll give you all except for Select and Kingdom. Select is my favorite non-MLG map. Very well balanced over all.

I love Kingdom as well, but it is terrible without DMR starts. With DMR starts, it makes the game really fast paced and very team oriented. It also limits the effectiveness of the sword, which is a good thing in any gametype involving sprint.

But by that logic, they should have removed all the Community maps; which they didn’t. Therefore, your statement doesn’t explain their logic at all.

No, they don’t please those people either. That was my point. Although they left Enclosed and Synapse in the playlist, they left some other Community maps in as well.

Rebirth and Atom were removed from all playlists a long time ago. But Eden Minor, Select, and Kingdom are still in Super Slayer. See my point yet?

It could be possible 343i is working on new maps for super slayer and had to make room for them.

Gradual process I guess. We all know how much 343 hates to make any meaningful changes.

I dont’ know for sure. 343i hasn’t provided any information since the last Halo Bulletin said some would be removed, without mentioning which. The playlists page hasn’t been updated yet either. However, since the April update, the only Community maps I’ve come across in Super Slayer are Select, Synapse, Enclosed, Kingdom, and Eden Minor. I could hazard a guess and say it’s likely these are the only ones left, but I can’t state that as fact.

Exactly right! If their purpose was to remove crappy maps, then it was illogical to leave those crappy maps in Team Slayer.

Maybe, but then:

  1. Why wouldn’t they wait until the new maps are available? What logical harm would there be in keeping the other maps for now?
  2. Why would they put those new maps into Super Slayer and not into Team Slayer?

Edit: And do they really need to make room? Is there a limit to the amount of maps a playlist can hold? I’ve not heard of such a ceiling.

I hate most of the community maps and am totally glad they were removed! They all have terrible aesthetics and the weapon spawns and placements are usually trash.
I hope all the small MP maps in halo 4 are competitively oriented and symmetrical so we don’t see any more ugly community -Yoink- pop up in perfectly good play lists and ruin them!

You’ve missed my point entirely. Hope you enjoyed venting.
