343i You're Catering to all the Wrong People

Let’s face it. Halo 4 at launch was not what we all hoped for. You guys even admitted it. Sure it was a decent game, but it wasn’t a great Halo game. However it seemed you guys listened to the community and delivered what we wanted. A true classic playlist, Forge Island, smaller maps. Even a promised TU. I thought you were doing great, but coming out of the dark to see the -Yoink- storm you left in your wake at GDC made me, and many others, regret ever thinking you guys truly cared.

So you guys are going to cater to an entirely different fanbase than the one which is the only reason you guys have this job right now? Had it not been for Halo’s competitive community Halo wouldn’t be as successful as it was when you guys took the reigns. The game market changed and now the competitive community, the fanbase that truly loves Halo, had nowhere to turn but Halo. We are a part of the blood of Halo. We play matchmaking, Campaign, Custom Games, Forge, Theater. Look at websites like Forgehub, 405th. These places were dedicated to Halo, the true fanbase. Now it seems we’re left in the dark.

It’s almost like a kid going to a school. He has a bunch of friends, a girlfriend who he loves dearly. He’s looking successful. His family is doing great economically, they have a good sum of money left over to do things they enjoy while still getting everything they need. Then his parents decide they’re going to move to a completely different state for a job that pays a little bit more, but isn’t looking like it will last as long as they hope. The kid gets no decision in this, despite being the most affected.

That is kind of how we feel. We had everything that was great about competitive Halo, but then 343 decides it wants to cater to a fanbase that enjoys an entirely different type of game. Dare I say, the CoD fanbase. Newsflash 343i, this fanbase hates Halo no matter what. They won’t play it even if it is the next Call of Duty game mislabeled Halo. As soon as they see H-A-L-O they look away. The ones that do play it play until the next big game comes out, and then all is left is the true fanbase. The ones that love Halo. But if you scare us away, give us nowhere to turn, then once the next big game comes out, and your “new fanbase” leaves for that. Halo will be a ghost town.

But I guess you don’t care right? You will still get your sales. As of now that really seems to be all you care about. You don’t love Halo like we love Halo, you love Halo because it is a cash cow that get’s milked and buys you stuff. Don’t put Halo in a cage and pull it’s utters until the milk turns sour and nobody wants to pay for it. Let it up to the fans that truly love Halo to play it until the day that it can finally relax and go to sleep for good. If you let Halo go to its true fans, it will die peacefully. Let it go to another fanbase, and it fill fall hard.

I don’t really get what people you say 343i is catering to, the COD fanbase? If 343i really only cared about money, why do you think they would spend money and resources toward a new forge map that was free to everyone, with the purpose of thanking the fans who supported them?

There is no point in even bothering to reason with them.

Who the F are they to call anyone “Campaign Kids” As a Halo fan I love both Campaign and the MM, so am I a campaign Kid?! I’m pretty good at MM and play as what some people would say these days “competitively” (isn’t the whole point of MM to be competitive hence the term “competitive Multiplayer”?)

They’re down right ridiculous, their inflated ego is off the charts, they genuinely think they know what’s best.

They’re also obsessed with making up facts, first it was the “only 1% of the community want a skill based system” now it’s “Everyone wanted imbalanced Gameplay” Who the hell wanted imbalance gameplay? I’ve been a part of this forum since Nov 2011 and not once did I see anyone asking for such absurd things. I remember there being a perk thread once and everyone scorned the guy, I really would love to know who and where they were listening to.

When was there a “True classic playlist”? All we got was the Crap Throwdown and Some Pro gametypes. Maybe Legendary slayer will be but I don’t think so.

The GDC video proves otherwise. Did you not see the large thread that was locked this morning that proved that 343i literally changed this game to make it easier? They literally said, “Halo has in the past had too high of a skill-gap”? Or that personal ordinance was made to give unskilled players to use power weapons and not have to fight to get them? Or the infamous “Wheelchair Spartan” pic?

This game really was made to cater to the CoD crowd and the lesser-skilled.

To be fair personally I don’t think 343i have done anything that many of us requested, the forge world was a major letdown. I do agree that the halo franchise is the main reason why halo 4/reach kept steady but the problem is what do the community do know? we already had endless flame wars, it just seem’s like it’s all or nothing because the decisions are all upto 343i, I’m concerned about where the future of halo is going.

It amazes me how much lying lays within just these few sentences.

Uh, how? Have you not read what 343i has said? That the game isn’t all they hoped for? Oh wait, it’s BADMAGIK. Go troll somewhere else.

I Don’t see any lying in that statement. It’s the truth. Especially if we start talking about the lack of Custom Game options, no Objective in Big Team, and literally making changes to the game to appeal to the worst players as a stated goal. Oh and then there’s no Falcon or Hornet. The loadout options like Plasma Grenades at spawn… I could go on.
