You dont have to change all this stuff like radar and aiming to get more competitive play.
All you have to do is add 1-50 skill ranking from the start. The End.
- Players will pour in. - Players will play longer. - Players will play harder. - Players will find players to play with. - Players will plug their mics in. - Players will max and do it again. - And again. - If they cant get higher, they’ll make a new account. - …and do it again.You want people to play your game like they played bungies game? Then add true skill 1-50 back to Halo.

LOOK: After The replies and great constructive discussion and points brought up in this thread, i just wanted to do some clarification on my main objective here. The new ranking system is good, its not a total failure and it will work better in time(its sad im saying that still after 3 games with it). Its not built for longevity though like the 1-50 true skill system was excellent at. We want players to come back and stay playing. We want a competitive sport emerge from Halo like it was in the glory days. People get bored with the new ranking system too quickly. Its not holding onto anyones attention, which is what we desperately need.

Whats wrong with the current system? Bronze-gold are 1.30 Plate and Diamond are 30-40 and Onyx and up at 40-50. Its a system that works.

Ive experienced both systems at their fullest. My first 50 was the most intense and satisfying moment of my nerd life. The next 3 were the next 3 intense and glorious moments of my nerd life. My first Onyx was … kewl. Then it went to the next season.

Yeah we all know this. 343i inherited a mess. They just need to fix it, not continue putting it in debt.
Look, we know 1-50 works extremely well to keep people playing. EXTREMELY WELL. So what if MLG used tiers. You didnt make it to any tier in MLG without working your -Yoink- off to the general skill level through the games matchmaking first.
How will that make things competitive?

Have you ever experienced the gratification of switching your playlists and seeing 50, 50, 49, 50, 48? Its like putting a bun in the oven. 
People want that and they will work long and hard to get there, over a games entire life span. The level of competitiveness at these ranks is extreme.

Still don’t see how the 1-50 helps. It didn’t in MCC. And that was all catering to the old school nastalgia fans.
No this new system fits in the MLG scene that 343I wants to set Halo in. It fits. It’s actually competitive. And you feel good about yourself when you finally make that Oynx. I’m Dimond now and slowly working my way up.
And for the top 50 players in Onyx Teir, you get to be called Champion, and are truly acknowledged as being a bad -Yoink- halo player and must fight to stay on top.
Something the 1-50 never did for me in Halo 2, 3, and MCC.

It isn;t dying at all. It is evolving and movign forward, just because you’re stuck in 2004 and refuse to accept things change, doesn’t mean the game should stay the same.
Halo 5 is an incredibly competitive an fun game to play and is probably the best Halo to date (imo)

Youre still comparing oranges to apples here. Top 50 players in the world? Come on. You think anyone actually has hope for that? 1-50 you move up. Every rank is a gratifying feeling. You barely get that with the tier system. I personally, have hardly gotten close to that with the tier system.
It didnt work in MCC because it came out too late, everyone had already left and the game was already smashed on release. MCC cant even be considered a part of this discussion.

Okay so being fair, you now have had 3 games with the tier system and i had 2 with 1-50. (MCC was broken and 1-50 coming too late, so i wouldnt even consider it)
So who really cant accept change if 1-50 were to come back?
