343i, you can do it all wrong and still get love

you can make a halo game wrong in every way possible and still get a positive reaction from gamers abroad. how? its very simple.

just follow these steps:

  1. stop listening to those (fanboys) who appreciate and defend the mediocre content you keep putting out.
  2. stop listening to those (haters) who rejects everything about 343i Halo.
  3. stop listening to the community, you will end up with a frankenstein game

final step) start making quality content that has perfect chemistry with everything you add or take away from Halo; in other words be creative.

Im no expert but halo5 seems to be that frankenstein that many people hate. halo 5 should be more like the classic halo’s 1,2 or 3 imo.

listen carefully. halo 1,2 or 3 weren’t frankensteins of each other; halo 2 did not copy and paste halo 1, also halo 3 did not copy and paste from halo 2. I don’t expect Halo5 to copy and paste from any of them.
what made them similar is that all those halo games were unique, they all brought a style of gameplay that was fun to play but not from the norm of their generation. everything in all three of those game made nearly perfect chemistry to their audience. halo1 catered to the coop audience but made others adapt to it. halo2 catered to the campaign lovers. halo 3 catered to the MLG party. all three of those games are epic in their own way and will never be forgotten. Oh, and also honorable mention, Halo Reach.

343, you remember when you helped to give us Reach? gorgeous game, the best imo. that game was so far ahead of COD and other games that it made me happy that I chose XBOx just to play Halo. At release halo Reach also lacked in content but the content that was there made perfect sense; eventually you added more fabulous dlc content that made that game a powerhouse. the foundation of halo 5 is broken unfortunately. Im no pro and i can’t pinpoint exactly what it is but the game just does not feel epic like the past Halo’s. Halo 5 guardians feels like too much recycled material play-by-play that has been experimented in other recent games.

Halo 3 catered to everyone.

…You do realize that Reach was developed by Bungie, not 343i correct?

Evidently not, it may break him knowing the truth

343i helped make map packs in reach

exactly!

I think 343i was responsible for the Defiant map pack, which gave Bungie’s Noble map pack Hell. I actually enjoyed both of those map packs.

bungie was on the way out the door during Reach; 343i did finish what bungie left.

The Defiant Map Pack was made by Certain Affinity ( but they make all of the multiplayer maps for 343 right? ) , I agree with the fact that it was a great map pack!

interesting, does Certain Affinity make maps for halo 5?

I’m sorry did you say that halo 5 feels too much recycled material? Cause I’m sure all the new movement systems were there back in halo 1, 2, and 3. It’s not like the gameplay in those three halos were the same thing, oh wait they were. The only difference was in halo 3 with equipment and man is that change. Wow! My bad that sprinting and thruster and clamber and Spartan charge and ground pound are recycled content.

No. Certain Affinity are currently developing the mediocrity that is the doom multiplayer.

Certain Affinity made map packs for Halo 2, Reach (including the CEA map packs), aspects of Halo 4’s forge, and the entire MP for Halo 2A. They are currently working on the DOOM MP. I.e. all the good stuff.

Basically they have more experience on MP games, and especially Arena MP games than 343i does. It’s no wonder they keep them around.

Edit: Note: in case you didn’t know, Certain Affinity was founded, and now run by Max Hoberman who was responsible for Halo 2’s MP.

Halo Reach was filled with content at launch, more than its predecessors. If there was something that Halo Reach did right, it was the content it was released with.

This gave us Halo 5 Multiplayer

> 2) stop listening to those (haters) who rejects everything about 343i Halo.

This gave us Halo 4 multiplayer

> 3) stop listening to the community, you will end up with a frankenstein game

This gave us Reach

These games only added or removed from previous iterations. Halo3 was the Frankenstein of Halo 1 and 2. The only true adventurous titles were ODST and Reach.

> what made them similar is that all those halo games were unique, they all brought a style of gameplay that was fun to play but not from the norm of their generation.

At this point in time there was no mainstream CoD or E-sports for people to blindly follow. Everyone was catching up to Halo in those days.

> everything in all three of those game made nearly perfect chemistry to their audience. halo1 catered to the coop audience but made others adapt to it

Halo :CE Is the reason Xbox Live exists

> halo2 catered to the campaign lovers

Halo 2 is the reason MLG exists

> halo 3 catered to the MLG party

Halo 3 is why video game community content creators exist aside from Let’s Plays.

> Oh, and also honorable mention, Halo Reach

Reach is the beginning of Halo’s fall.

Thank you. Your opinion here is valid and shared by many. The real reason behind this in the campaign is, the campaign just blows. In the multiplayer it’s that half of the maps in arena suck.
The maps that stand out the most are Eden, Regret, Torque, Plaza, Coliseum, The Rig, and Fathom; leaving 6 (soon to be 7) maps that are more-or-less just bad. The maps rarely inspire awe or allow for some crazy plays. I think Plaza best fits what halo 5 is capable of in terms of multiplayer freedom, but we keep getting remixes that only promote claustrophobia. Overgrowth, Riptide, Tyrant and Empire are so closed in it does not allow for the imagination to be used at all, and in the areas where it is not closed in you risk falling off the map (I’m looking at you tyrant).

50 scout warthog variants later…

Seriously though, Reach has plenty of content that brings players, even today. The fact that DLC gets shut out as a newer title is released or that the only way you can play on maps you paid for is Limited time playlists (H4) or grabbing friends (H:Reach&H4) is why the population doesn’t spike higher than what it is right now.

trust me everytime they do something wrong people tear it up, they definitely aint getting off scott free.
