I’ve seen an abundance of people addressing concerns over the new controller layout. Therefore, why not allow players to customize their controls. This feature has been available in games for years. It seems like a simple fix and players could experiment and create a layout that fits their control style.
Was literally about to make the exact same thread
This is most definitely the best idea for button layouts.
343: “Hmmm… either we give players the option to customize controls to their liking or we add weapon skins… WEAPON SKINS IT IS”
its because 343 doesnt want to run the risk of some kid finding the most OP button layout, so thats why they say no to button mapping which i honestly think is a pretty decent reason to say no.

OP button layout is bumper jumper. The only layout which I believe we can jump and aim/move at the same time.
Or you could just get used to the new layouts.

not really, any good player could jump and aim at the same time with the other halo’s. granite it wont be as fluid as with bumper jumper but still. idk i can see both sides of the coin, 343’s side, and the community’s side on this subject and i agree with both so im honestly indifferent on this. just merely relaying a message is all =]

No, it’s because it takes to much time to find glitches in the layouts if you can make thousands of different layouts. There is no such thing as an OP layout, everyone prefers a different control scheme. I don’t even know how you could make an OP layout just because a button does something else than usually.
It is of course too late in development for button mapping to be included on the disc at this point.
However, 343 can still make up for this by including button mapping via Title Update. It is possible to do, as Valve has done it with portal 2. It is also not as hard to do as adding it in on disc, as something else would have to be sacrificed to do so. And since all it is is a few hours/days of coding and de-bugging, it requires little to no resources; only time.
This request is made for every single game, and eventually it will become a standard in console gaming(as it is with PC). Why not start ahead of the competition and bring button mapping into the current generation of shooters?

hm either way i was in a sense right but my bad for wrong wording. anything is possible though on making an OP button layout though. i mean OP in the sense that you cant do what he does unless you change your layout to his layout type of OP
OH and the button glitching in halo 2 days, that was some OP -Yoink-.
The reason is, 343i wants to focus on other mor eimportant things than testing every single layout possible to make sure there are no bugs, glitches, overpowered combos, and other issues.
It would help, but it won’t be very efficient.

Welcome to the internet, home of misquotes.
They’ve already answered that question.
