343i, Step up Invasion. Here's how

Hey everybody.
Recently I was going through some old Xbox games when I stumbled upon Mech Assault 2: Lone wolf, not sure if any of you guys are familiar with that game but in that game it had a mode called Conquest that was utterly groundbreaking and incredibly ambitious at the time for a console shooter. But due to poor execution.
It was a Colossal Failure.

In this mode 5 factions competed with each other for control of the galaxy, each faction could have an unlimited amount of players meaning planets were always being assaulted and games being played. Sounds really fun and engaging right? so why did it fail?.

  1. The level of teamwork required was phenomenal.
  2. Games kept lagging out due to poor netcode, making assaulting a planet nigh impossible.
  3. Commonly matched with randoms from your faction, causing poor communication.

So your probably wondering to yourself “Raviruga you trippin bro, that’s MechAssault not Halo, it wont work here” However netcode has improved vastly, we can eliminate lag. UI has also improved markedly since then making playing with friends easy. I also belive the framework for a successful take on this is already in place.

Invasion.

Picture this as playing Invasion in matchmaking. except your hard fought gains to capture that territory or return that core have an impact on the Halo Galaxy and your one step closer to ultimate victory for your faction. Halo universe post-war is ripe for galactic conquest, with the UNSC with but Earth remaining looking to regain lost territory, and the Sangheli looking for a purpose of there own amongst the stars. Below is how I visualize this mode.

4 Factions
UNSC (Spartan’s)
Capital World: Earth
Starting World’s: Earth, Onyx, Installation 03
Forced Player Model: Spartan’s

Covenant Separatist’s (Sangheli)
Capital World: Sanghelios
Starting World’s: Sanghelios, Te, Balaho
Forced Player Model: Elite’s

Insurrectionist. (Rebel Spartan’s)
Capital World: Venezia
Starting Worlds: Venezia, Eridanus Secundus, Mamore
Forced Player Model: Spartan’s

Covenant Loyalist’s (Jiralhanae)
Capital World: Doisac
Starting World’s: Doisac, Eayn, Palamok
Forced Player Model: Brute’s

Well thats my thoughts, leave a comment below if you like this or if you thought it should die with Mech Assault.

I can already tell you have done your homework and that this is well thought out. I like it especially the part were you have to work as a team (Battlefield anyone?). Now is it going to be in Halo 4 is another story.

Thanks, it took me roughly 2 hours to find all the info for this post. The teamwork aspect appealed to me most because Invasion can be a highly tactical experience but it currently has no support, being limited to replaying 3 maps over and over and no way to skirmish against fellow experienced Invasion teams.
