Unless 343 pulls something extraordinary out of their butts, I think the Halo franchise is going to suffer the same fate as Quake, Unreal and Doom.
More of the same is not going to cut it.

It is sad to say but your right about this. Halo 4 could be at least be number 2 or 1 if they had played there cards right. It is also sad to say the only big reasons I’m on the forums is to see leaked pics. Real or not it gives me some kind of hype…

And that’s exactly what I’m getting to…
Awesome games, but they failed to caompete with new ones and people slowly forgot about them…

Yep…
And now this OHI thing on the bulletins, c’mon, be serious…
I don’t see the need for so much secrecy for a game that will be the biggest xbox release this year…
-Yoink!- should be pushing it down the press’ throats…
Instead we get nothing 7 months after E3, while other games like BioShock are impressing with so many awesome trailers!!
I really don’t know what’s going on on their heads…
No AAA exclusives aside from Halo, and no press releases for basically their best game this year?
They’re just counting on the Xbox 720 announcement to help them this year…
But I really don’t know if that would boost Halo4 or actually hirt it… :-/
I watched another video on another site (I think it was GameInformer) that said its most anticipated game was Halo 4, so I still have faith.
I couldn’t care less as to what the users at GT think. I’m cool with 343i’s wide discretion to release info whenever they wish.
i like that 343 is keeping this game in the dark and yes i do believe people are starting to lose interest in the game i know for a few months i forgot about halo 4 and just didnt care after the VGAs because if they didn’t show a trailer there thin we wont get nothing till probably the next e3. but i don’t want 343 to put out to much info i feel like bungie put out to much info on reach. What i think 343 should do is to show some concept art every now an again to keep peoples imagination going i don’t really want game play or cutseens yet. im hopeing for maybe a sneak peak at something halo 4 at the end of the Halo conflict clips on Waypoint i know they did something similar with a video and they showed a bit of the defiant map pack before it was ever shown but there is still hope. we are dealing with maga corporations that know how the market works im shure they know what there doing
Totaly agree.
OT: Well H4 hype will grow as soon as something concrete is released. I’m thinking we’ll start to see more news in FEB.
OffT:Well, its like GW2 good things come to those who wait! H4 will NOT suffer the same fate as Doom and Quake. Because they WILL make a comeback my friends. I predict the end of COD in about 10 years. Halo’s end is unseen. The Old School FPS is the only FPS that should have been made COD killed alot of things with their most recent games but as the Starks say “Winter is Coming” and I’m thinking COD’s summer is nearly over.
The game has a while before it comes out… They will start showing stuff later. Besides, only about 40,000 people participated in the voting. And that is awesome seeing that Halo 4 was one of the top 10! Halo 4 is my most anticipated.
Considering Halo 4 is a game I personally feel I know too little about, and am extremely skeptical towards because of the downward plunge of the Halo series since Halo 3, and the “hit and miss” reputation of 343 with excellent releases like Halo Evolutions, the TU, and Anniversary, and colossal failures like Halo Legends, and the Halo Encyclopedia. I’m not surprised that Halo 4 is not that anticipated.
ESPECIALLY since this is the first time Halo has had to REALLY compete for it. We have juggernauts like Mass Effect 3, a story competing with Halo CE and 2, and by far surpassing Halo 3 and beyond, in quality for the Sci-Fi Genre. Diablo III, which unfortunately for Halo is DIABLO, and could not have been knocked off the top spot of that list. And Guild Wars 2, likely to crush World of Warcraft, something Halo was never capable of even trying to do.
Now how Halo 4 got beat by Bioshock Infinite, and Resident Evil 6 is beyond me. But Tomb Raider, and Borderlands 2 both promise something new and spectacular. So while I’m not personally excited for them, I’m not surprised by them either.
Many also seem to forget Halo is a 360 exclusive. And 360s are nowhere near as popular as they used to be, PC has been growing in popularity the last couple of years, and the PS3 is on the rise in recent months, since most good releases lately are multi-platform and PS3 online gaming is free.
My personal list:
1 - Diablo III
2 - Mass Effect 3
3 - Halo 4
5 - Borderlands 2
My reaction to the video: Ouch.
Not that it hurt me, I agree with every word he said, but it was kind of a bold way to present his perspective.
Hopefully Halo 4 will bring the series back to its previous respectfull and well-deserved level appreciation
I hope we get some kind of hype booster within the next month, 10th place is pitiful.

I have to ay all those games where simialr to Halo. Sci-Fi arena shooters that have just died out. Doom 4 is coming out though :).
Halo is one of the last great arena shooters.

Changed your up a little, these are mine ^^
I know there is nothing about Halo 4 yet, but I am much more interested in the game from a story perspective and the anticipation by far kills both Mass Effect and Borderlands and obviously Resident Evil. I don’t really know Diablo so yeah…

Fixed the list to my liking.
k…
10th place isn’t great, and sure the fans who are on this forum know what 343 is trying to do and hopefully, the series is in good hands but to your average gamer, the majority of the gaming community, I was surprised to see Halo that high. I am shocked that the majority of the gaming community still knows about Halo 4, and haven’t just forgotten about it.
But as they finally do release stuff about it, probably around/ just before E3 the “hype” should build.
Inb4 people blame Halo:Reach and Bungie for Halo 4 not being Anticipated.
In all serious though, 343 really needs to step it up and show something. that or they shouldn’t have announced Halo 4 at E3 2011.
I have a feeling 343i knows exactly what they are doing. They want the hype to be on the down low so when they do reveal something, it will skyrocket with anticipation. Plus, they have Microsoft on their side to advertise and market the crap out of Halo 4. I believe it will be on terms with Halo 3 when that was marketed. Having Halo 4 slushies, game fuel, doritos, commercials, exclusive pre order stuff, etc. Don’t worry guys it’s only basically the beginning of the year so we have a while to see anything major.
