Seriously, Halo is beginning to feel more and more foreign to me. Ya I’ll buy the new ones, after all they are Halo, but they aren’t Halo. We need to return halo to its glory days, and one way to fix that is by bringing marty back for the music. Remember when you just got halo CE and you load up and suddenly you hear the classic halo theme? Remember the chills it gave you? Wouldn’t you like to feel that feeling again and realize you’re playing a real Halo game?
I felt chills leaving the smoky ruins of the Dawn and into the open expanse of Requiem. I felt chills with the Didact’s awakening. I felt chills darting through the Mantle’s Approach in a Broadsword. I felt chills when Cortana died. All those scenes were amplified by the music and felt just as much like Halo as my first steps on Alpha Halo.

No, I’m pretty sure I meant Halo chills. As for Marty coming back, eh. The Destiny soundtrack was good, but 343’s offerings are just as good. Hell, I bought the Halo 4 OST for a reason.
If Kazuma can make more 117esque tracks, then I’m set for Halo 5. But yeah, I would like some original tracks back in applicable scenarios.

Yeah, I do miss a lot of Marty’s tracks. I just really hope the main menu music from the beta is not indicative of the music from Halo 5…

Great tracks, but Haven made me actually tear up a bit when I heard 3:53 portion being played with the Lord of Admirals terminal and his regrettable destruction of a Forerunner planet to halt the Flood.
I am glad to see most of you are in agreement. Yes, i sorta like Kazuma. 117 was good, but not Marty O’Donnell good. Just remember this song from the defiant map pack trailer. The part with the Chorus mixing with the trumpets must give you the chills. I f’in love this song
Also, later on in the week i will try to at least once a day make a post in the halo 5 section on how we can help 343 make halo _**Halo.**_ Thanks community! This is legendary, and I'll see you on the battlefield. That is actually my favorite Halo track yet I heard it first in Halo: Legends despite it being in Halo 2, so somewhat poorly implemented before and given prime status by 343.
The new music direction is by no means bad, but of course, its no classic Halo music. They could’ve at least re-made the original Halo theme. I think we all have a right to demand at least that much. Regardless of how good you think the new music is, I think we can all agree that the return of Martin O’ Donnel would be rather godly.

Yeah, perhaps I had overreacted to it, but what you said in that thread was basically saying that nobody liked 343’s ideas, which wasn’t really true. But it’s fine, sometimes we lock horns, but in the end, we just care for our favorite franchise. Also, I’ll try and tell you what I think about the tracks later. I’m on mobile data right now, and YouTube just burns it up.

It’d be nice, but I wouldn’t complain if he didn’t come back.

For me some were more chilling than I recall from older Halo’s
All of this is really subjective to what style of music you like, and if you have a really open mind about it like I do you can feel the levels of emotion in both composers work, with all the melodies blending to create that sublime track. Whether mounting up to get into one of the broadswords, or running down the top deck of the Pillar of Autumn, there’s always this wonderful ambiance provided by the music. Marty might be a legend, but Davidge has created music just as powerful as Marty has. Seriously, just listen to “Nemesis”, and try and tell me that isn’t one of the greatest things you’ve ever heard. The slow build up to when that chorus hits, and all of a sudden you feel this overwhelming sense that there’s this menacing power coming into play, and then the levels start to die down and it gets quiet… Fantastic. All of this really helped elevate the final fight against the Didact, and it just makes it just feel so much more emotional, and it’s totally worthy of being hailed a Halo classic.
Ok yeah! Obviously with Marty and Joe Staten being free from Bungie… 343 should pick that up!

If there’s one thing I can definitely agree with it’s picking up Staten again, really chill dude when I spoke to him, and an amazing writer.
Edit: I also really wouldn’t mind seeing Marty back in the fray again, but I think he’d rather work on something new, and I really don’t want to see Neil go because he’s extremely talented as well. I think the most mind blowing thing that could happen would be having Marty, Salvatori, and Davidge all working on the next games OST; That’d be something to hear.

Funny because the only chills I had was when Cortana died, the rest were semi-ok but it was mostly predictable. Shame the game-play of H4 was bad but the cut-scenes were amazing. Still it should have had the classic main theme since it is supposed to be a main Halo game, it be like having James Bond without the classic James Bond theme, etc…
It would be great if Marty could have some involvement with the Halo 5 music.
