I think it would be awesome for 343i to create a contest for the community
to create their own helmet that would be voted on by the community.
So the community would have the chance to create and vote for a helmet that
they think would fit in halo.
This is just an idea.
This contest could allow someone to create their own design that would
be placed in the halo universe. If the helmet isnt able to fit in halo 4 as dlc
then maybe it could be put in halo 5.
What do you guys think? If 343i made a contest that gave you the chance to have your
own helmet design in halo 4 then would you enter?
I think 343i should make more things that the community could take a part in.
If there was a contest then I would submit my halo 4 gladiator helmet that I have made
in the community creations.
This contest would of coarse have certain guidelines to still have that halo feel. So someone
can just make a gundam helmet and put it in as a submission.
Also this thread is only for the possibility that 343i could add new armor dlc to the game. So
please dont say “they cant add new armor”. If they can add new armor then please
say if you think this would be a good idea.
I tried this already with Republic Commando armor, all the hardcore folks here are adamantly opposed to extra armor for some reason.
I think this would be cool, but I doubt the results would be widely accepted.
> Yea that is a great idea! I had the same thought but instead of helmets, people can design a map and send them to 343i to creat it.
yeah this is a great idea as well. i dont see why more of something would hurt anything. obviously if someone submitted a map that 343 thought was great then you would have nothing to worry about. I do like this idea
Sure it would be a fun idea, but they can’t add new armor. I know you said don’t say they can’t add new armor, but really for some frustrating reason they can’t add new armor. Really folks we should be hounding 343 right now for Halo 5 to be able to add DLC armor instead of falling back on the boring they can’t add new armor schlock. Other than that great idea.
they do this for Battlefield heroes and it works out so well!! it turns it into a more community game and not just ‘what the devs think go well’ sorta thing, they have the ability to add more armour in DLC unlike h3 i mean look at battlefield 3!! so YES defintly, shoulda made a vote for this

your right i should have made a poll but sometimes people just vote no just to be that person. i wish people would comment more on these forums instead of just looking and then leaving the page. but thanks for liking this idea.
Ha I got it. 343 should build a small forge dev with armor parts so you can build your ideas like maxis did with spore. Then everyone not just artists can play around with designing a set of armor.
Ooh, I could do that. Provided I’d have a Spartan model without Armor pieces to put my armor pieces on. I’m good at modeling everything else than bodies

yeah thats not a bad idea at all. I see where you are going with this. So your
saying that should provide a program that would allow you to place armor pieces
on to fit your desired look.
So a armor creator program that allows you to see what you creating and maybe your finished product could have some simple way that they could take your information to improve it to be placed in
the game.

DAMN!
I was going to make a very long post about how the Halo Engine is very limited at adding things post release/gold.
> Ooh, I could do that. Provided I’d have a Spartan model without Armor pieces to put my armor pieces on. I’m good at modeling everything else than bodies
Yeah I would imagine you would have to have a Spartan model to place parts on. I used to spend hours just messing around with the Spore vehicle editor for the fun of it. Be interesting to see what the community could build. The Skyrim armor mods are insane at times but every once in awhile some incredible works of design and art come out into the light. Maybe somebody who works on the Forge build will get bored and play around someday. Lol not likely but there it is.

> A Helmet concept art from Reach.
> Helmet that looks more bad -Yoink!- than the Locus Helmet.
yeah i figured that if i add that little part then everyone would focus more on a “what if” response then just a “it wont happen” response. lol
But yeah those pictures are sick. i really like the second one a lot.
“The Behemoth” a once practically indie dev put in just a few lines of code into their XBLA hit “Castle Crashers” update this year which allowed them to add in two completely new characters and flash models. These characters consisted of the Pink Knight and the Blacksmith. Now they had DLC characters before but they were simply locked content within the original game download. The way they distributed these characters was one was free and it held files for both characters but to use the other character you also had to buy him.
With halo 4 now requiring an 8gig installation, 343 can’t use space as an excuse. I do truly believe adding armor to halo 4 to be easily implemented when you have even half the resources that 343 does. If the current version of the engine is so restricted to not allow this, then they should really think about it for the next two games.
I know that this wasn’t the point of this thread so I just wanted to say that. Now I would like a contest like this, even if it didn’t involve the actual armor being added to the Halo universe. I would love to see the creations of the community when focused onto one point of the game. Especially armor.

Well, not directly, I meant that the only thing I’d need is a base player model, it doesn’t even have to be textured either. Well the textures can be there, but then again I suck at texturing as well. Anyhow, I meant using a real 3D modeling program to make th models, and just import the base player model into it as a reference, it doesn’t have to have any bones or extra stats, just the mesh. I can work from that.
I use Blender, haven’t had it open in a while though, for 3D modeling.

Yeah i see what your saying. i have tried blender before and its very confusing and hard to use for me. I wish i could make my helmet at the top that i have in a link into a 3d model and make it in pepakura to make it come to life. Check it out at the top.
