Although it has never been acknowledged as a legitimate difficulty setting, the fan-made Mythic difficulty has had quite a history within the Halo series. Mythic difficulty, also referred to as LASO, has been somewhat ofstable to the series since Halo 2 when skulls (items which typically make gameplay even harder) were introduced. The difficulty requires that you turn the difficulty to legendary, then subsequently turn on all of the skulls.
And though Mythic/LASO has been mentioned by Halo developers before. Halo 3, which name its multiplayer map-pack after its harder difficulty settings, even included an eponymous Mythic map pack. So after all this recognition, I fail to see why it hasn’t be made into an official difficulty setting. So here’s the questions, would you want to see Mythic become an actual difficulty setting in Halo 4’s SPARTAN Ops and campaign? If so, it would make the game much harder than legendary, it would not require that you turn on any skulls, and it would probably entail a great reward. You’re also free to discuss how hard Mythic should ideally be.
I’d like the game to aknowledge if you are completing a level with all skulls on. That would drive me to finally complete a Halo game on Mythic. So yes, I would like turning all skulls on to activate Mythic difficulty. I have kind of hoped for it to be a real thing since Halo 3 that I’d finally get a good reason to really get into the Mythic difficulty.
Edit: Oh, and about how difficult it should be, I believe “Blind” is the only thing that should be excluded for it because that skull doesn’t really make it more difficult, it just makes aiming less intuitive. Otherwise the Mythic difficulty should go with the same skulls as the Mythic difficulties for Halo 3, ODST, and Reach.
Maybe the image could be the shield with 2 swords but with the Promethean Knight’s skull.

Oooh, that’s very good idea! I could totally see something like that being in the final game, if such a difficulty were to officially be made.
I don’t want an official Mythic mode. The whole point of Mythic is having a mode that builds from the hardest of Legendary, but with mythical additions of the skulls. It’s not supposed to be a standard experience and shouldn’t be accessed as so. That said, a Mythic achievement and medal would be fine.

Why can’t it ben an official difficulty? Surely, that would only get more people interested in actually playing on Mythic. What downsides are there making it official? Too difficult? There is no such thing as “too difficult”, there are only things that are beyond your skill level.
