343i, please put bullet holes in enemies when shot

Several last gen shooting games have featured bullet holes in enemies, this feature adds more realism. Halo 5 is on an xbox one. If last gen games can do it, surely a next gen game like Halo 5 can pull it off.

Games such as Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, came out three gaming generations ago, and while they don’t feature bullet holes, wherever enemies are shot, that area of their clothing soaks red with blood.

Half Life 2 features bullet holes in enemies when shot, as a flat texture of a bullet hole, and it came out two generations ago.

CoD: WaW, BO, and BO2 all feature bullet hole impacts as textures on enemies, and they are all last gen games.

Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock infinite have blood soak up in the clothing or skin of enemies in the area that they are shot or melee attacked.

Last of Us, a late end last gen game (came out around the same time as Halo 4), has fantastic bullet holes when enemies are shot. A 3d swolen red hole apears on the front AND THE BACK of a head wich has had a bullet hole shot through. It’s not just a 2d texture, and it’s location depends on where the bullet hit’s the head. Also when enemies are shot in the torso the chothing of the enemy soaks up in red blood in that area and looks extremely realistic. On top of that wherever the enemy was shot, you can see blood trickle down in an animation at the point where the bullet hit.

343i please do the following:

-In Halo 5 the colour of the bullet hole should be the same colour as the blood of the species.

-When Marines are shot, wherever the bullet(s) hit them, they should have red impact marks on that part of their body

-When shieldless Spartans are shot, wherever the bullet(s) hit them they should have red impact marks on the black part of the armor (the more rubbery part underneath the coloured metal part), and bullet holes (that look like bullet holes in metal) on the metal parts of the armor. As well as when shot in the head their visor should receive a large crack with blood smeared on it. The same helmet concept should apply to ODSTs.

-When Grunts are shot, wherever the bullet(s) hit them, they should have blue impact marks on that part of their body

-When Elites are shot with their shields down, wherever the bullet(s) hit them, they should have purple impact marks on that part of their body

-When Prometheans are shot, where ever the bullet(s) hit them, they should have an impact mark that looks like a bullet hole on a metal wall since they are made of metal. Or perhaps an orange impact mark as they leak out orange oil when shot.

Halo has always had animation of blood coming out of enemies, blood landing on the floor, wall or celling in puddles, but it lacked realism due to the lack of bullet holes in the enemies. I hope that Halo 5 fixes this.

Also Halo 2 Anniversary’s campaign has the best blood yet, when it lands on the floor, it reflects the light, and glows the colour of the light shining on it and reflects objects. Halo 5 should copy this too.

Unrelated:
The Halo series was originally going to have gore from the very beginning! Here are some screens of early Halo CE with gore. Some of that gore was kept in the final game with the Elite in the level ‘343 guilty spark’. I’m not saying I want Halo to be gorey like Gears of War, but just more realistic (to show off next gen power) and add bullet wounds.

I agree. I’d love to see that in Halo and more gore aswell. I remember the animations we saw in a Halo 3 Vidoc where an Elite was cutting the legs of a Brute with an Energy Sword. It could be more realistic by adding more gore.

Not to sound disturbing, but I agree. It’s an M rated game, and I want mediocre M rated gore.

Meh, I could with or without it. As long as they don’t go all Gears of War (As awesome as it is) on it, I’m fine.

To an extent. The shielding system prevents this from happening but once shields are broken bullet holes should appear.

Shields… High density metal armor… He wants realism…

Like they don’t need to make it extreemly gory or anythign (although the flood is gorey), I want bullet holes for realism, and to mark Halo’s footstep into next gen.

For some reason Halo has always been a very mild M rated game. I’m not saying they should go all Manhunt or Gears of War on it, but if they have an M rating at least make use of it lol

Bloodstains wouldn’t really work, but bullet holes would be fantastic. Hit registration already knows where your bullets hit. 343 could just put hole textures where bullets hit.

exactly

Seems like an unnecessary feature to me. Just because the game is rated M doesn’t mean it needs to be Gears of War level violent.

My only problem with this is that Gen 2 armour systems even without shields are made of extremely tough materials, the bodysuit itself is all kinds of proof and the actual armour plates are literally able to deflect all non plasma based weaponry, thus if someone was shot in lore with a penetrating UNSC round the bio gel in the suit should immediately stop the bleeding.
But this isn’t reach and Spartans don’t need health, I always imagine it as the suit just sort of blocking up all the bullet holes etc, to see blood on every single un shielded shot wound would be too out of lore for me.
I do like your idea of cracked visor but again they are designed to take some strong hits from point blank so it should require a lot of shots to crack, however if it was the killshot, then yes I think a blood splatter would be great, but not just from being shot (who can survive a fragment of bullet in the skull).

Finally about Promethians, I don’t think you understand how they work. They don’t have orange oil lubricating them, then use anti gravity technologies.

I’m totally with you Halo needing more realism. It is an M game. Lets see some more Mature content. In Halo 3, when a marine dies the body is bloodied. That left in Reach for some reason. Bring that back and apply to the aliens as well.

It’s not to make it more violent, just more realistic. This is next gen after all

Why? My comment makes perfect sense.

In Halo when you shoot walls, you see bullet holes in them, why? Because it makes sense and is realistic.

It makes no sense for you to shoot a grunt up with an assault rifle, and for his body to be completely unscratched.

Bullet holes wouldn’t work if the Gen 2 armour patches them up, however it would be better if the armour itself was damaged, armour cracks, pieces fall off and the visor shatters a la; Lone Wolf Halo:Reach

On Spartans this would only work when shields are down, but like the guy above me said the GEN2 armor patches you up on the fly so it’d be temporary.

I like these ideas a lot. As long as the visor shattering isn’t visible from first person, that would be distracting.
