343i, please implement a ping filter for Halo 4?

I am an Aussie player, and the main downfall for me in any online game is lag. American host is bad enough, but when it comes to anything worse than that, it’s just unplayable.

Is it possible for 343i to implement a filter system that blocks pings of higher than x ms from matching me.

** Example **

American host is ~250-300ms ping.
European host ranges from 500-900ms ping.
Japanese host ranges from 120-180ms ping.
NZ host ranges from 60-100ms ping.
Australian host ranges from 20-50ms ping.

Why can’t there be a system in place to stop me from matching anyone above say, 250 ms ping (and same for all countries)? Sure, it may mean that search times will be slower at certain times, but I’d honestly rather not get a game, than play against Europeans. It may as well be like getting standbyed or cheated.

So can a system please be put in place to prevent people from matching anyone with a ping of x, because honestly, I’d prefer no game than a game on a host with a ping higher than that.

Agreed that they need a ping filter as well, hell it would be better to just have world wide dedicated servers, that would be a much better solution, but no dedicated servers, means ping filter is an absolute must. Im pretty sure they have dedicated servers in halo 4 though, it would be pretty bad that the FIFTH title does not have dedicated servers.

There’s a feature in Halo (I havent used it much but you could give it a try), while searching for a match in MM you can set ‘Good Connection’ as one of the criterias.

That des not work, at least 50 percent of the time it does not work, I have used that option, and it gies host to people in japan still, or in canada, or one time even south africa !b And I live in germany, so that is a nono, especially since I know there is a huge halo population in mainland europe.

If I use that feature it takes at least an hour to get a game, if that. Seeing as I’m in Australia, it only searches for Australians and NZrs, and with hardly any Aussies/NZrs searching 50 high, there’s no games to be found.

What needs to happen is what I suggested in the OP. I should never have to match Europeans. The connection is unplayable. As I said earlier, and I bet that any Aussie who has played on European host (and vice versa!) would agree that it would be better to not get a game at all, than to have to play on that connection. It’s just not fair for the party that is not local to the host.
