I see a lot of talks to Nerf the Mangler… So as a halo fan since the original… that I beat as a child with my siblings… at my babysitters house… If you need to nerf it at least read this quick😉 comment on how to go about it.
The Mangler shot damage is fine. The body shot melee combo is fine.
Reason to be concerned with the mangler… Ammo count is high. Mag size is big = very forgiving weapon. I would drop mag size to 5 this would make it very punishing to miss shots.
The melee + body shot combo this is very strong and overall very frustrating as it reverses the original mechanics of all previous halos where you have a close range weapon and would shoot first then melee. Just doesn’t feel good overall and looks very low skill when performed. Make it one headshot or two body shots.
Additionally….
I think you should focus on making the plasma pistol more consistent as in newb combo more reliable. The tracking is atrocious.
Anyway game is great overall. I enjoy multiplayer a lot campaign is great too.
The battle rifle feels great in ranked and only slightly underpowered in casual games.
The assault rifle is just a bit strong😅
Thanks for a great Halo 343i! brings me back to my younger days grinding Halo 3 ranked. Watching Str8 ripping play back when my favorite player was T2
ok just letting you know, its not the gun that is the problem
its frame abuse also known as “quick switching” (stolen from doom eternal nickname) where it takes, the frames of not being able to switch and instantly switching for a quick kill
I personally think this is a great play that requires a decent amount of skill to perform consistently. I’ve seen Lucid use this combo and I don’t see much of an issue.
Yes it’s fast. Maybe a bit too fast? Needs more data in my opinion but I think the mechanic is a great addition to the Halo sandbox.
yeah thats the issue, while it is a smart play its def not how the weapon switching is supposed to be. its bypassing a very deep part of halo which is being forced to switch AFTER the weapon has stopped its active frame. its like being able to melee EXACTLY after you press the fire button
I mean we don’t know the full intentions behind dropping weapons. It has loads of interactions in the current sandbox design. I haven’t seen a weapon dropped to then melee… how does this interaction work? Again more data needed 😵💫
Pros should probably be ignored by 343, especially when the gun we have works. I agree with most that it should just be classed as a higher weapon. I mean, I destroyed an entire lobby in fiesta with it, even beating energy swords and hammers.
Probably dropping the weapon (as shown in the video, where he shoots with the mauler, drops it, headshots with the BR) so that it wouldn’t be faster to drop your weapon.
My only issue is whether or not this would hurt other interactions like picking up weapons off the ground and racks. Would it effect this at all and how exactly?
I guess I see the concern I would just need to see more gameplay to determine how viable the strategy of dropping weapons is to warrant a change to what I think is a underutilized mechanic.
I think swapping would be unaffected (as it replaces the held weapon) but dropping is for giving weapons to your team, so doing it in a fight isn’t a good idea anyway.
