halo now:
Halo games used to be about a desperate religious war. Now it has a more semi-anime superhero WE R SPARTNS bs. pls fix

Yeah the covenant should still be the main enemy. I want to fight in the same covenant human war in every single game.

I honestly can’t tell if you’re trolling or not…

Did you forget all the Halo 4 ads? And what about the Halo 5 ads now?

I honestly thought it was an alt account at first

You do realize the war ended in Halo 3, right?

So you want them to do a dark and suspenseful trailer for games that came out 2,7,10 and 13 years ago?

Move along folks nothing to see here.

I personally think the promethean turn H4 took was lame, but never really cared about the story in the first place. The ‘anything goes’ element seems to be getting more common. If we destroy the prometheans, writers will just come up with another evil alien. yawn. It’s like a TV series where they never escape the situation they’re in. Good thing I just like to play the games.

who knows, maybe Halo 5 is dark and suspenseful. we know so little of the Guardians and what they do (other than cause a large amount of collateral damage when awakened)

I wouldn’t mind the Forerunners being the main enemy if I could actually believe they were Forerunners and not Tron Robots.

The transition from Sentinels to Knights is really jarring.

Mmm yeah I would have to agree. The Watchers may have been the only Prometheans that really looked like Forerunner designs to me at first. The skags -err- Crawlers weren’t original at all and felt the most unForerunnery to me. Still pretty fun though lol

Yeah let’s just never change anything ever. Let’s fight the same battles against the same enemies with the same weapons in the same environments with the same textures. I would totally be willing to buy Halo 3 every year.

What the hell are you talking about? So far, 343’s games and direction is far darker than Bungie’s. Despite Bungie’s games being set during a genocidal war against humanity, they still found room for generic stock characters and silly dialogue. 343’s take on the Halo Universe is much more gritty, somber and morally grey. It’s becoming harder and harder to tell who are the good and bad guys now that the Human-Covenant war has ended.

We also had Cortana fundamentally break down in Halo 4 and forever die, and now Chief has been left to dwell on that in Halo 5. Not to mention how the Flood are now the descendants of Halo’s equivalent of gods seeking revenge on their creations. That’s pretty dark. Religious themes in the Halo universe haven’t ended; they’ve expanded. In fact, the Ur-Didact’s and his Prometheans reasons for fighting humanity are based in his warped interpretation of the mantle.

Wooo. Yearly releases of the same game and Multiplayer. Just with slightly better graphics each year. One year it can be done by 343I. The Next Saber. Who uses the same engine but changes the story up. And adds in -Yoink!- Flood survival mode with a deep story hidden in its easter eggs and stuff

Halo can’t stay where it used to be. It needs to evolve. I agree that the newer breeds of Spartans don’t appeal to me as much, but I’m glad the series is changing. I would’ve liked them to explore what the Spartans were going through when the Human/Covenant War ended. They were bred for war, but when war ends, what then?

I’ll admit, it doesn’t sounds like the story of an FPS, but it would interest me if they explored this…

I’m overall pretty excited for Halo 5 but I really just feel like anything & everything having to do with the Prometheans is like an ugly tumor on the series.

I get that it was the right time to bring forerunner stuff in as an active part of the plot I just wish they’d gone about it in an entirely different way. In single & mutliplayer, everything from the weapons to the enemies to the way it all looks just leaves me bewildered and wondering “WHY!?”

For one, the weapons fill the same role as not just weapons that are already in halo, but the weapons in basically every other game ever. Just completely unnecessary AND not very inspired. They could have got really creative with the weapons’ functions but they just followed the same archetypes, even with the way the weapons look. Also, the entire promethean aesthetic completely goes against the simple, monolithic theme present in everything we’ve seen from the forerunners thus far which is what bothers me the most.
