343i - Please Add the Repulsor to the Campaign

The repulsor is really great in the MP sandbox and I think could lead to a lot of really cool encounters in the campaign if it was there.

While I don’t think absolutely necessary, a few additional Spartan Cores would probably be nice to add with it.

Some have expressed their concerns that it will break the boss fights when the boss uses a melee attack and make them too easy, but I have a few potential solutions to that. Note that I am not suggesting all 4 of these are implemented, but rather pick and choose 1 or more of the 4 solutions below to get to the ideal solution.

  1. Make the cooldown timer longer.
  2. Make bosses (and potentially hunters) resistant to the repulsor.
  3. Add a skull that enables it.
  4. Make it a weapon pick up (instead of equipment) that has a limited number of uses.

Others have said that the repulsor is ugly and they don’t want to see it on MC during cutscenes. I tend to agree. To this I say, just do not render it on MC in cutscenes, even if it is equipped.

It’s not the issue of Spartan Cores, it’s the issue of the Xbox Controller.
It’s currently already a hassle to swap Equipments on the Controller, adding another one may not be wise.

Or they may add it and you have to choose what you want to bring along.

Or they can do the thing where if you tap the 3rd equipment, it’s a Repulsor, if you hold it, it deploys Dropwall.
Both share the same Charge system and will mean you can’t just abuse and spam the Repulsor since it cools slowly.

I image a lot of AI getting “stuck” if this was in the campaign. I don’t want to have to restart missions because the repulser pushed some monster where it gets stuck.

I personally think there should be an option to customize the equipment controls more instead of the current 2-button-press selection using the D-Pad. Leave the current D-Pad control system as an option, but also let players bind to different combinations (LB + RB for one, LB + X for another, hold LB for yet another, etc.). I’d like to have the grapple button as the current equipment button and then map the other equipment to button combos/holds.
