EDIT: I have added a few more clauses to this thread. Please look 343i!
As the title says, please add JIP to matchmaking. I don’t see any downsides as long as it’s implemented properly.
- It would decrease search times for a match as you would be allowed into a match.- Only let a person join if there is more than 60% of the game left, (% can be anything, just a guess)- If you JIP and win, you get points for the win. If you lose, then as you were a JIP person, you don’t lose any points, and it doesn’t count as a loss.- You would only be able to JIP twice a day, after that all your searches would be for a full lobby just starting a game. This would stop people only joining via JIP and not having their loss count.I personally can’t see any downside to this.
- For people who quit, they get a loss, or DNF.- For people who stayed in that game, then you have a fighting chance to claw back the win if someone JIP.- If you lose the match, you were probably going to lose anyway, but the JIP person doesn’t get the loss as it’s not fair to him/her.- The next game is then more than likely going to have a full lobby. If you can think of a bad reason, I would love to know and discuss.
Thanks.
Mr Trever.
Even if it is just for unranked… It needs to be in

I think it should be in ranked too. I don’t see why you wouldn’t want it in there?

I’m thinking more of the people who are worried about their number. I think it should be in for both like you.

Its 2015 and people still dont understand that ranked is more than just a number? And then they ask for JIP cause people quit because of extrem uneven matches.
JIP hurts way more than it helps. We know the reasons, hundrets of JIP threads in Halo 4.
Punish the quitters, not everyone else.

It’s ok for casual play, but no it should not be in ranked play at all.

But I still don’t understand why? Why not in ranked?
For the person who quits, they can get treated as though it was a loss.
For the person that joins, only get treated for a positive outcome.
For the other team, they now have a more fun, balanced fight.
For the team that had a quitter, they have a better chance to win.
Where is the negative?
I wouldn’t mind it in casual (aka unranked) playlists because there’s not much to gain there compared to ranked.
You play ranked because of the competetiveness and JIP has so far shown ,in the majority of the games that have it, that the majority of the games you join you get into the losing team.
And that only gives a free derank for you for no reason, causing you to get an unfair ranking.
Keep it in customes and casual playlists, keep it as far as possible from the ranked playlists.

I understand your point, but this is remedied easily by doing what Titanfall does.
Join a game in progress and manage to win, well done, here is your increased rank.
Join a game in progress and lose, we’ll leave your stats alone and not count that game as a loss.
You also have to remember, that the majority of JIP is for 1 game only. It’s not every game you will start mid-way through.
This should then have a massive effect on Matchmaking times.

That will also water down MM and make it more boring because joining a game which you’re already losing and even if you win it’ll give of a negative effect. In ranked you’d rather play from start to end instead of playing middle to end. It’s just generaly boring because you join in either a boring head lead for no reason or in a boring disadvantage. And joining a game you’re losing also gives of a higher chance of leaving the game which will lead to decrease in points.

Negative. Everybody joins into broken, lost, laggy games instead of making up new healthy matches. 90% of people quit because they lose. (more hardly than close) That means 90% of the matches you join into lost games. I hate losing, and losing by unfair disadvantages even more, even if it doesnt effect my rank. There happend so many stupid things in H4. Just no!
If you search alone in a team playlist you will have idiot teammates some times. Deal with it or team up.
Well jip for unranked atleast.
The lag problems should disappear now they have confirmed that we choose the datacenter for halo 5…

I have to disagree.
- “Everybody joins into broken, lost, laggy games instead of making up new healthy matches.”
This is not true. Most matches, (especially if you are in a party / team) will start fresh. This will only affect people who are on their own, not in groups. By your own admission, you either “Deal with it, or team up”?
Also, I don’t understand why the matches would be laggy or broken? There is no evidence for this other than your say so.
- “90% of people quit because they lose”
Where did you get this stat from? In my opinion, I would think most people quit because they have other things to do in life. I know that’s the only reason I quit.
- “That means 90% of the matches you join into lost games”
Again, this is a made up stat. For the sake of argument however, let’s imagine that the second and third point are true. Why does that mean you’re going to lose? I’ve JIP many games (COD / BF / Titanfall) where I start off losing, but end up winning.
- “If you search alone in a team playlist you will have idiot teammates some times. Deal with it or team up.”
How about, if you search alone in a team playlist, you might sometimes have to JIP for your first game only. Deal with it or team up.

The negative is jumping into a game on a team that has been shorthanded for who knows how long. That’s fine for non ranked play but in ranked play every loss counts against you even if you were only in the game 2 minutes. In ranked play every game and every kill counts. Jip would cumulatively tank your ranks

No, it wouldn’t tank your ranks for the reason I have put in bold above.
In the instance of the person who is JIP, their rank should only be affected if their team wins. If they lose, there shouldn’t be a consequence to their rank. This would solve your problem, it would also solve people being frustrated by having team mates quitting, (not entirely I accept, but not much can be done about that in my opinion).

Then you could climb the ranks by dropping between games and rejoining new games always playing the substitute. And yes they would do that to rank up. I remember many people buying 50s in h3, and many more idleing their Xboxes all night long in reach.
I would like to see JIP coming back but I would agree that it shouldn’t be added in for ranked playlists, having it in unranked / social is fine.
343 has proven that they don’t know how to do a proper JiP system. sigh
MCC needs it. The quitting is reaching absurd levels.
I’m all for it for unranked.
