343i Officially Sucks

Firefight Doubles was the BEST PLAYLIST in Halo: Reach. I seriously enjoyed competing 1v1 with another player for the top score in a kind of Firefight (2x Score Attack) that was a LOT more structured than the mindless chaos of Arcadefight.

Not only that, it was one of the only chances to play online on smaller maps like Holdout (one of the best FF maps in the game). ALSO, the chances of getting a DLC choice were higher since you only needed one other person to have DLC in order to play it, which is why Installation 04 and Unearthed came up as choices more often.

It was also fun because when it came to vehicles, nobody was left behind. A Warthog has 3 seats. With 2 people, one drives, the other shoots. With 4 people, one drives, one shoots, a third rides shotgun, and the fourth man trails behind in ostracism on foot (or blows up the Warthog in spite, which thus ruins EVERYONE’s fun). I honestly had a lot of fun driving and gunning around with a good teammate that just wanted to have fun. What is 4-man FF full of? AFKers and LOTS of lag.

Taking out Action Sack is one thing, considering I never played it, but why in the name of Jesus H. Christ would you drop FF Doubles? Why? I want to know who ASKED for FF Doubles to be removed (if there is an answer to that question, please provide their full name and address so that I may visit them and rip out their duodenum). So much for listening to your community, 343. I’m amazed that the inheritors (no pun intended) of the Halo franchise have managed to piss me off so quickly compared to the many satisfied and happy years I spent playing Halo under the management of Bungie. You guys are mostly FORMER Bungie employees! Didn’t ANY of that honest love for the community rub off on you…or is that why you DON’T still work for Bungie? You can count me out of Halo 4 if this is any hint as to the kind of piss-poor mismanagement I can expect.

Firefight Doubles was removed due to its low population and its redundancy with Firefight being a playlist.

Also, 343i isn’t full of former Bungie employees, there are four that I can name off the top of my head.

Frank O’ Connor
Vic DeLeon
Chad Armstrong
TTL l askan (no idea what his real name is)

There is no denying the fact that Doubles didn’t have a high enough population to have a playlist space once Halo 4 would be it, it was going to be either extremely underpopulated or dead like Team Mythic is in Halo 3.

Watch out overkill. try not to ‘attack’ in posts, probably get thrown on a forum ban, just a heads up if that would effect you (I’m sure it doesn’t haha). Got slammed with one yesterday

Can’t say I disagree with the removal of them all, but removing FF Dubs in my opinion was a bad idea. If I had to decide between FF Full and FF Dubs I’d choose dubs.

Point 1 well taken, but Bungie or not, they at least should still care about what the community wants and not just what they personally desire. They aren’t the ones putting their 60 dollars down as a vote of confidence in the management, since they ARE the management.

Point 2, I have to disagree. Team Mythic in H3 is DEFINITELY dead. Much agreed there. Matches take up to 5-10 minutes to pan out if they pan out at all. However, like I said, Firefight Doubles only requires two people, so I always found myself getting a match VERY quickly. With at least 200 people on at any given time (and up to 1000 on weekends sometimes), you only need to find ONE available person. That takes no time at all. The quick matchups were something I actually was FOND of FF Dubs for. Population can be an issue when playlists require large numbers of players to start like in BTB or Team Objective, but for FF Doubles, the argument of population (even after Halo 4’s release) is invalid IMHO. Halo 4 doesn’t even have Firefight, so I can only imagine there would be a handful of zealots (no pun intended again) like me that would stick around and keep having fun in FFD. I certainly know that if it were still around in November, I’d still be playing it regularly like I always have.

Yeah if they wanna be like the BF3 admin in “BF Friends” and just ban as a knee-jerk reaction to serious criticism, then they can just be my guest lol. I seriously would not shed a tear over it. xP

Imagine this, Doubles still existed in for example, February 2013, you are wanting to search alone and the population at the current time is at lets say, 50, 50 exactly, imagine it is a real time number, that’s fifty players in there, then there is you, the 51st player, you will have to wait for the peoples who’s games are currently rolling to end before you can get matched up with them, and even then, they might party up, research and get matched up again because their location in the world allows them to have less laggy games with each other.

It all comes down to the location of people playing the playlist are, if you are from Australia and the other people in Doubles are not, you are going to have a hard time finding a game, and if you find one, it is going to lag uncontrollably for the guy who is off-host.

Trust me low population or not a lot are very annoyed, until they undo the august update the forums will be over-run with angry fans.

Same lol. A lot of the criticism posts are just being hidden for “breaking rules” or temp bans. Thought I’d give ya a heads up! Got a warning then without posting again bam! hit with a ban. Like why warn? lol

This has nothing to do with the OP. Take it to PM’s or knock it off please.

The small amount of people on here which is not even near one hundred isn’t exactly going to make the playlists come back, if these playlists were loved so much, then all the players who played Anniversary BTB, Anniversary FFA, FF Doubles, Action Sack and Squad DLC almost exclusively would be here complaining, but nope, you have the same people complaining about it in extremely small numbers.

I honestly wouldn’t mind the longer wait times for a good match if it meant that I’d at least be playing with someone. Score Attack is a good playlist and all (no lag, all the kills are yours for the taking), but I must confess it’s morbidly lonely playing by ones self in FF. And those numbskull Marines on Installation 04 aren’t any kind of substitute =P

Im surprised you said that. Here I thought, FF Doubles was removed due to constant lagging, which i had that problem. However, you do have a point with the low population in FF Doubles. The one thing i wanted to ask with Anniversary BTB and FFA…I almost cried. They were by far my favorite playlist. Action Sack…it did get pretty old, since players in HaloBall Xtreme played for kills alongside Hockey. If I can a request on that, do you think its possible to move Shotty Snipers and Splockets to either Rumble Pit or Team Slayer. I think by far those were the best, and it may give players a chance to increase their commendations for close combat, crack shot, and heavy weapon. Shotgun Assault and Assault (w/Grenade Launcher) on the other hand, was pretty cheap.

To add to Little Moa:

That will not even include what the current population in Feb 2013 will be like for Reach. You will have TS, Living Dead, Griftball and SWAT pulling the most populations making the other practically DEAD.

I thought BTB had a high population. And yes, to be honest, the other playlist are indeed dead. I wish Invasion and Team Objective games can be moved to BTB.

Actually, if you posted in the Optimatch forums of bungie.net when Bungie was still in charge, you would know that the playlist manager there actually frequently conversed with the dedicated posters on those boards. I’ve gotten responses from Jeremiah (come back we need you!) a few times and he was a cool dude. You know the playlist Squad Slayer? Well, it was recommended that Armor Lock not be a part of it, and guess what… You had one of the best playlists right there because of direct involvement from the community and the playlist manager. And it is all gone now.

343 sucks because they made one bad update?

I can’t take you seriously.

There isn’t enough space on this server for me to put all the reasons that 343i sucks. Not trolling, ask me and I’ll back it up. See previous posts on bans for an example. 343i < Bungie and probably cry themselves to sleep. They have no way to contact by phone or e-mail because they’re irresponsible and don’t care at all about the Halo Community.

Bungie wanted to jump ship from the Halo Reach franchise and, imo, -Yoink- parts of its Multiplayer, causing the crapfest that 343i had to clean up.

343i has to deal with a divisive fanbase that can’t decide whether it likes Vanilla Reach or despises it and wants it to be fixed. The fanbase is -Yoinking!- bipolar, asking for one thing and then immediately complaining once its implemented because it isn’t ‘perfect.’ Bleedthrough is the best example of this, being the feature that the community wanted soooo much, then immediately wanted gone soooooo much.

We’re not getting Doubles and Squad back because 343i hates us; we’re not getting them back because 343i might want to stop talking to the Reach community before they smash their heads against their desks because of the abso–Yoinking!–lute stupidity they’re presenting.

Coherency and valid arguments died with the waning days of Bungie’s administration of Reach.

> 343 sucks because they made one bad update?

> I can’t take you seriously.

You’re funny, a real jokester. The next Dave Chappelle right here.

But no seriously, there aren’t supposed to be any bad updates.

You realize about a few months back everyone here was head deep in 343’s derriere because they thought Bungie sucked. How the tide changes in the wave pool these days.
