So lately I’ve been playing Elden Ring and it occurred to me if 343i want to bring an open world to Halo they need to go all in and not this hybrid they’ve created.
A good example of this would be the open world of Elden Ring, large open worlds with plenty of enemies to deal with and then closed levels/dungeons but with NPC’s to give out side missions.
I feel the open world of Halo Infinite is empty of things to do and the fact that it pretty much looks identical is also an issue (hopefully more biome’s will be added).
Also level design shouldn’t be so linear, instead of going after the feel of the Halo mission from CE they should be looking at the Silent Cartographer mission with multiple objectives in different locations.
Please 343i either go all in with the open world or just go back to linear levels but no hybrid, let’s make Halo campaign mean something.

They kind of did. You do have a world filled with ambient AI and more linear dungeon missions. Mechanically that’s what’s there.
The issue is they were only able to produce so much content for the game. I’ve heard everything from a third to a tenth was all they got out.

Halo 5 Guardians campaign has more biomes than what Halo Infinite campaign have

How can they produce so little in such a long time. Priority Zero is nice and all but if this is the output from all that energy input…they really need to hire more competent people or something idk.

If I had to guess there is likely 2-3 full length campaigns worth of story left to tell in DLC for the next 10 years, I’m pretty certain we will see more biomes before the end of this games lifecycle. Which not to mention a ton of people - old & new - will play, because… it’s Halo.

New campaign DLC is actually something I would be excited about…even if they announced it would be coming in a year that would be good.
But no, instead they break their “no battle royale” policy and do other crap no one asked for.
I think the biggest issue with the open world is that there’s very little incentive to explore it. And there’s collectibles, but most of those are marked on your map already.
It also feels very repetitive playing within the same biome all the time.
