343i must've loved Halo 5 more than Infinite

Halo 5 had FAR more content in it day 1 than Infinite. That’s not even including weapons or vehicles, that’s just maps and gametypes.

Underwhelming is a severe understatement.

I felt that too, but considering how they treated helioskrill and watchdog, and the menu lag, bugs in wzff, terrible networking and not being anywhere near complete at launch, i dont think they love halo at all. Its a job

Don’t blame Microsoft.

343i management kept lying about the state of the game and Microsoft still gave them a massive extension on the game. If they had been honest and said the game simply wasn’t in a good state and that they needed more people, then Microsoft would’ve done that.

343i let Halo down, not Microsoft.

Infinite is only underwhelming because of desync and connection issues. The actual core gameplay is significantly better.

actually Halo 5 had more launch content, warzone was a total new mode, infinite doesnt have any new mode

and the worst melee in halo history, worst armor customization (core), zero progression system, no companies, only 1 ranked playlist, pay to unlock good things, hacker issues, weapons lack, etc etc yeah only that

Don’t care about any of that to be honest. I play Halo for the gameplay. I also never said Infinite was perfect or complete game. But it is night and day better then Halo 5.

Also it was more then 1 ranked playlist.

lol dont care about that? well that mentality is why we receive mediocre games, good for you

We receive mediocre games because all the publishers care about is money.

Honestly, I think 343 was really united and all-in on what they envisioned for Halo 5. It was something they cared about deeply and wanted to deliver on, and as the game’s run cycle went on, you could tell how dedicated they were.

Maybe Infinite is going to get that same love at a later time, but in the meantime, Infinite is what you get when your teams are divided and your vision isn’t whole during the early stages. Something utterly alien yet strangely familiar.

I think H5 multiplayer was on par with Reach. Not as good as 2 or 3 but considerably better than 4. That’s why I think people liked it so much as we usually compare games to their predecessor and 4 was abysmal.

However infinites multiplayer- takeaway having only one ranked playlist at launch (considering now it has 3 with FFA, Doubles and 4v4) I think it’s a really good game and it reminds of the Halo 2 days.

In H2 we didn’t have a progression system, their was no cosmetics, just barebones playlists and great mechanics and terrible servers.

I maybe lucky I don’t get much desync, it happens but not very often and my ping adjust depending on what time I play. Plus I always seem to play similar skilled players.

When I play I enjoy the games - so that’s definitely a win. What isn’t there is irrelevant. It would be nice to have those things but we can’t always have what we want.

I definitely agree, but the consistency is much worse. Too many secrets to where I believe they don’t really have anything great planned at all.

“oh but the core gameplay is good” is like the ONLY argument for this garbagepile, a very overused one now too! not only is the mp hot trash with all it’s bull but so is infinites campaign, along with its incredibly boring sandbox of weapons and vehicles and lazy artstyle, the story and open world suck hard too! i was super ready to fight atriox and HiS banished and maybe get a proper end to cortana, instead this game practically throws them both to the side and tries to roll with this dumb new villain that does nothing to add to gameplay, and can 343 stick with a bad guy for more than one game? i don’t even know why they bothered with an open world either, halo games were already pretty big and wide open and filled with more stuff than infinites extremely poor attempt at one. an open world seems primed to take on big enemies like a scarab even small ship like a lich, nope just the same old boring enemies, actually even less sinces there’s no prometheans or flood, just the banished.

you must be living in the darkness because it’s clear as day how much better 5 was, it feels like it tried so hard to please the older fans and intrest new ones and fails hard at both.

Halo Infinite has its issues. There is no arguing that. But as a game it is better. While the game SHOULD have launched with campaign co-op, forge, custom games browser, progression system, and more maps/playlist all of those can be added later. Halo 5 failed at a core gameplay level. And you can not fix core gameplay post launch.

Note I’m not condoning 343/Microsoft handling of Infinite. They screwed up bad. But where I disagree with OP is that one day this game will be night and day the best Halo. Assuming they can actually fix desync.

I’ve played every single Halo since Combat Evolved. Halo 5, in my opinion, was just overall the worst game in the franchise in every single way.

the hell do you mean as a game? i just pointed out how crap the campaign is overall and you pointed out the rest! they rely too much on ‘adding it later’ and how did 5 fail at core gameplay? infinite feels almost exactly the same as 5 but with halo 3 equipment and less of everything else by the time it reaches 5 in content they’ll probably have a new halo game out.

This is your opinion. I enjoyed the campaign.

And yes, like I said Infinite SHOULD have launched with everything. But this isn’t 2007 anymore. Games can be expanded on after launch now. It’s not ideal by any means but it’s better then getting absolutely nothing.

Halo 5 failed in every category except forge/custom games. Halo 5’s campaign was truly awful all around. The heavy aim and very heavy reliance on equipment mixed with absolutely horrible level design just made for bad gameplay. You talk about how horrible the Infinite sandbox is, yet the pistol was basically the only weapon most people used in Halo 5. There was little diversity in the sadbox at all that was relevant. Halo 5 had the WORST looking armor period so customization was completely pointless. The Art design was trash and their little “reck” packs where a god awful attempt at monetization as well. The game was all around bad and unfun.

Again, as stated above, this is my opinion. Halo 5 was the only Halo I truly hated.

I’m patiently waiting for the day that H5 comes to PC. I feel like though that with the current state of Halo and how much time and effort goes into MCC and Infinite that this is a long pipe dream.

you say it’s just your opinion so keep it to yourself, but im gonna argue that infinite is factually a worse game than 5. at the rate infinite is going it doesn’t feel they’re expanding it feels like they’re trying to add the rest of it in. the aiming isn’t that different from the zoom. 5s level design is meant to be used with the thrusters, if you just don’t like the thrusters thats fine. i dont like infinite grapple shot because it’s too good just launching your self across the map, stealing weapons and vehicles, it can do it all. thats probably why they didn’t even bother with more varied levels, whats the point when we’re just gonna whip right past it. pistol is definitely op but other weapons still felt useful and fun, especially in warzone and fiesta. nearly all of infinites weapons are gimmicky or feel like older weapons fused into one. infinite customization overall is total 4$$, soo much fomo and monetization it’s like wtf?!?!! and it’s made worse by their horrendous xp and challenge system and stupid timed events, they can’t even get holiday themed items out on time. 5 art style is better than this cheap crap called infinite, it had real thought and purpose put into it, while infinite just tries to copy bungies old designs, even bungie was slowy evolving their art style, 343 just thought they could cash in an the old fan boys.

it’s doesn’t seem that crazy, im 100% they can spare a few team members to port 5 to pc.
