Seeing how they announced an entire trilogy and not just H4. 343i must be pretty confident that H4 will work because for a lot of people this could be the end of their dedication to Halo. Which would make them look pretty foolish if nobody bought their other games cause H4 sucked. What do you think?
well they must have a heck of a plan
It has nothing to do with confidence. More like, they actually have a whole story planned out.

I know, but they have to be sure that the community is going to like H4 in order to announce that they are staring a trilogy otherwise they will look silly for planning 3 games and everyone jumps out on their first. And from the threads that are constantly being posted here. This is a pivotal moment in the Halo franchise.

Yeah, I understand what you’re saying. Halo 4 is a make or break game. We can only hope that they can pull it off and stay true to Halo.
Well, Halo 4 is the make or break game.
And if people don’t like what they see (including me), they’ll jump ship before it’s even released. There’s already a lot of pissed off fans after Reach. The atmosphere is poisoned with hate. 343i must be really confident in what they’ve done/are doing.
I only hope that the Halo series doesn’t end anytime soon…
It won’t be a make or break game. Halo has some die hard fans. The Universe is also huge and the story line has an expansive mostly unexplored timeline. You could compare Halo fans with Star war fans if you will. Also there are other games that have this massive universe/timeline. Assassins Creed and Mass Effect.
It isn’t rare for developers to plan sequels only for them to be scrapped.
But I highly doubt Halo would flop that badly.

There are also many pissed off fans from Star Wars after the Prequels. The Star Wars community is even more divided than Halo’s! And by “make or break”, we mean how many people will be left being loyal to Halo after it’s released. Not to long ago, many fans, even the die-hard Reach fans were very skeptical of 343i. All eyes have fallen on them.
So yes, it is a make or break game.
Halo is, and for a long time yet will be, a big xbox title. It might not compete saleswise with some of the other big shooters, but there will still be enough buying it and being fans of the franchise as a whole to justify producing more titles.
Announcing a trilogy is a good move, in my opinion. It’s to show us fans that they’ve got a clear direction and plan, rather than to have us worrying “What if they’re just making it up as they go along?”
Well they had to announce a complete new trilogy because making one Halo game wouldn’t make much sense, especially because of the fact Microsoft made 343i so this way one of their best exclusive titles didn’t die out. I hope you get what I mean when you read this.

I agree. But the way I see it is why would you order a meal from a restaurant if the appetizers suck. I have no doubt though that they will have excellent appetizers.

That’s how a fan would see it. But for just general players and the “bandwagon kids”, you’ve still got a pretty sizable buyer base. Planning the trilogy was for sales, announcing it as one was for fan benefit.
And besides, if Halo 4 does do as badly as we’re conjecturing, there’s no reason why 343 cant take that on board for Halo 5.

Very true.
