343i make Season 1 free + More

TL-DR:

  • Make S1 premium Battlepass free going forward
  • An exchange to get missed out weeklies
  • A fixed store where items are permanently purchasable once introduced
  • All cores unlocked for free
  • Core Progression system that unlocks armours and cross-core for the final rank
  • Purchasable menu screens.

As the title suggests, season 1 all players going forward should get the premium pass of the S1 battlepass from the get go. As compensation, maybe give those who bought it 1,000 credits (343 make more money from the store so it shouldn’t matter). Though i’m fine with getting nothing myself.
This is because anything MKVb related is locked behind a minimum $10 or 1,000 credit paywall as the core unlock is a premium reward in S1. And going forward, hopefully, all season battlepasses net 1,000 credits.

  • More
  • All cores should be unlocked for free and not behind a paywall

  • An Exchange should be added, every week players should get the choice between the weekly ultimate or a commendation (every 4 weeklys attained should net 1 as well). This can be used in the exchange to get a weekly you missed out on or event items missed out on. On a weekly rota like the store. Event core unlocks are permanent features.

  • The store shouldn’t be rotated with items each week. Anything added to the store should remain in it and split into sections (featured, sale, armour, vehicles, weapons, etc…).

  • Suggestion: Core XP. Earn levels for a specific core up to a max rank. Each core would be its own progression system, each set amount of levels would net customisation pieces. The final rank would give cross core customisation for that core. Maybe unlock the Orion Core as a work around.

  • Suggestion: Purchasable menu screens, let players buy previously seen menus from prior games or even newly made menus, maybe add an option to randomise the menu of each day to spice things up.

If they give us the core and some basic things it will allow them to sell a lot more. But they probably don’t see it that way

TL;DR you don’t understand a bit about F2P monetization and you didn’t even try because you want even more stuff for free.

I actually think this is a good idea if this game was shipped with this from the start. The Core could serve as the Battlepass itself and consistent play with it equipped will let it unlock permutations over time.

Sadly, this was not what they marketed to the players and this will only cause people to get annoyed because we’ve already seen how scummy their sales tactics can be. I’m still open to this system if and only if 343 steps up and announces their monetization plans if they were to make such a change.

I agree that every armor core should be free. Also that items shouldn’t be removed from the shop. But to give the whole season 1 pass for free to everybody feels weird. It’s only 10 bucks.

I think the way they did Season1 BP was bad anyway.

Season 1 BP was Reach themed, but it has several slots of the BP taken up by Mk7 armor instead of Reach armor which was then pushed into the shops.

Here’s what should have been done:
Player level progression and Events - All your Mk7
Heroes of Reach - All your Mk5b
Lonewolves - etc.

F2P Fractures - Tenrai or Steampunk

So “free” players will only be kinda playing around with Mk7 while paying players have many series to choose from.

As for the store? Don’t sell armors, sell “Lookslots” for players to save armor loadouts instead.

New Mk5b content? Heck, just slap that onto Heroes of Reach too post Season 1. That’s not a problem at all.

I think it’s you who doesn’t understand and is talking straight out your rear-end. Free stuff creates the incentive to want said “stuff” and increases the willingness to pay for it. Rocket League is a great example of a F2P platform that offers an extensive amount of free content, while really banking on paid content as well.

Decent free content, creates demand for awesome paid content. You know what incentivizes me more to buy your cat ears? When it will match the free cat tail cosmetic I got. You know what incentivizes me more to buy your yellow honey comb visor? When it matches the free black/yellow coating I got.

All the people complaining of FOMO need to stop, limited time rewards are not something new in a video came and should be left alone. If you don’t want to miss out on a reward then play the game and earn it.

No comment. This could be a smart maneuver if done properly.

Additional choices (or an alternative choice) for a weekly reward is an interesting idea. Executed properly, it could be a stronger incentive for getting your challenges done.

I completely agree. Recurring-event-related items should remain off this list, but a catalog is a great idea. You can only buy an item once anyways, so why keep so many off sale?

At face value, that statement is lunacy. However, I think you’re on to something.

All cores in general, with or without additional cosmetics, ought to be unlocked. I agree. This does have a flagrant issue though.

Namely, the value of the battlepass cores becomes inherently more volatile. With the core itself no longer being something you have to buy, everything else in that pass becomes seemingly more optional.

Some folks could take it as incentive to buy the pass, while others could be content with what they have. Conversely, the pass items “seeming more optional” could actually be a net positive for the game’s reception, in stark contrast to the “buy or starve” content situation we have in Season 1.

My stance is that it’s a mixed bag that would need research.

This one is difficult.

For the first half, I completely agree. Organically earning armor and items can only be a good thing for player enjoyment and will help alleviate the necessity of buying things.

For the second half, I disagree.

Cross-core functionality being locked behind some sort of level or “final rank” would be absurd, and would more than likely make people very upset. If and when possible, I argue that it should be implemented with no gimmicks.

For this last one, I think that’s a cool idea. I would drop a bit of cash for some classic menus with a Halo Infinite flavor.

But you can’t play the game to earn nearly anything, you need to buy it.

This isn’t like Dead By Daylight (which has the best battle pass ive seen) where half the stuff is on the free to earn seasonal road map and the other half (the cooler stuff) is on the pay to earn side. At least with that model of battlepass there is some incentive to pay and earn your way to victory. In Halo i’m doing work for an armor sticker.
