343i - make HALO great again

@343industries

Hi, here is a big HALO fan,

from the beginning with HALO 1 and the first XBOX I was a big HALO-fan. For this time it was an amazing graphic and gameplay. Also features like split screen were amazing back then.

Besides the epic music the top 2 features were

  • The open game worlds (it was like Legend of Zelda)
  • And THE STORY!
It was impressive to fight against the alliance and to realize at some point that the greatest enemy in the universe is an incredibly clever parasite. THE FLOOD!

I remember also HALO 2 and how I played the multiplayer Maps in split screen with my best friend for hours! AMAZING!
In 2009 I bought a XBOX 360 and HALO 3 - and like always the story, the graphic and the gameplay were perfect.
In 2010 I played HALO REACH - the story was ok - but the Multiplayer and the FORGE were really impressive. It was really fun to make FORGE-Maps and play the multiplayer.

That was bungie.
Now we come to the inconvenient part…
I don’t want to make you bad and scare you away. I want you to take this seriously as constructive criticism and bring out great HALO games again in the future.
HALO 4 was the first HALO from 343 Industries.
To note something positive: The name 343i has been chosen grandiose

But HALO 4 was a flop in gameplay.
The Multiplayer and the forge wasn’t better than in HALO REACH.
And the story? Of course, the story behind the forerunners is very interesting and important.
But after the consistent story of HALO 1-3, something like this, like HALO 4 came up. HALO without the flood? really? What’s wrong there? And the alliance and the humans are no more friends because of… what? Ok, the reason is for sure in some HALO forum.

But instead of fighting the main enemy of the universe, the Loser Chief 117 is so stupid and accidentally releases the Didact (really? REALLY?!). And then I don’t have to deal with important things (like flood), my goal in HALO 4 is to suddenly fight a school-teacher as the final boss who makes the whole game over annoying sayings.

Ok - HALO 5 - new game - new chance
At first in 2019 I played HALO 5.
I.t. w.a.s. a. d.i.s.a.s.t.e.r.

  1. You play 60% team blue or something? Not the Master Chief?
Why? Because no one likes him anymore because he is a fool who frees the Didact?

  2. Ah… HALO without the flood… ok
I have another great idea… Mario Kart without Cars

  3. If you play HALO 5 online (quick search) you spawn always in the same 3 terrible maps.
No one likes this maps - and only 3?

  4. The Forge… Such a great tool to design levels!
But you don’t take it serious, right? The level are small and not so nice. And the forge has a lot of bugs (like with the exact position of the items). Also I need to PAY FOR XBOX Live to make my own levels on my own XBOX One with my own HALO 5 - I bought?
I bought all this stuff and don’t play multiplayer (just designing in forge - alone) and I need Xbox Live? Is there a troll in your company?

Please give HALO infinite (and please call it HALO 6 in future) an ultra epic FORGE!

  • With an UNDO-button
  • With Big Maps
  • With epic and complex stuff to implement
  • And a good possibility to play the maps with all people form the world
→ You will se what amazing maps some players can create then
  1. Multiplayer… I say only “Josh Holmes”.

  2. Yesterday I want to play HALO 5 with a friend at home…
    You know what’s coming now.
Of course HALO 5 has a split screen mode.
EVERY HALO has a split screen mode!
HALO without split screen is like Command & Conquer without military.
And sure there is a split screen mode because there is already a CO-OP implemented.

…and there was no Job… for someone to implement the split screen.

HALO 5 had sales of several hundred million dollars in the first week. And there was no potential for split screen CO-OP?
Oh boy… for me 400,000,000 $ are really much. But Ok… not enough for split-screen CO-OP.

Luckily there is no troll in your company who shows HALO 5 in split-screen mode in the official announcement trailer of the “Xbox One S All-Digital Edition” (although there will be no split screen). Wait… there is such a troll in your company?

I would be very happy if you would take this as a constructive criticism and “make HALO great again” in the future.

P.S.
Please talk to your boss and tell him to make a HALO 5 update with split-screen-possibility.
Your boss would say that you work hard on HALO 6 (sorry HALO infinite…) and HALO 5 doesn’t brings you money?
NO! That’s wrong! If you release a HALO-5 split screen update - the HALO community would recognize it and everybody would talk about HALO. And a few month later you release HALO 6 (sorry HALO infinite…) and everybody would buy the game from an awesome company like 343 Industries!
So please - it’s 2020 but not to late to release a split screen mode in HALO 5 - think about it!

THANKS FOR A BETTER HALO - IN THE FUTURE

> But instead of fighting the main enemy of the universe, the Loser Chief 117 is so stupid and accidentally releases the Didact (really? REALLY?!).

You mean like how Chief almost killed everybody by firing Installation 04 because a robot he just met that day told him to and he never asked any follow up questions?

You did play CE right?

The robot is always saying he (the robot) is a genius.

It’s a genius! So I would not ask questions.

So basically one of the points you made is pretty much faulty. So long as you are willing to admit that.

One point I really have to address here.

> And the alliance and the humans are no more friends because of… what? Ok, the reason is for sure in some HALO forum.

Firstly, it’s called the Covenant and not the alliance, secondly it’s a Covenant Splinter Faction, that Cortana gives a brief explanation of how they are different in the first mission. If you played the game you would know this. There’s a reason the Storm Covenant look a lot different in terms of the armour they wear compared to the original Covenant.

Kid I LOVE the enthusiasm you bring to this post, but you’re a few years too late and a few crack rocks too many in the pipe lol.

There’s a lot to discuss/correct/dissect here, and I’m too tired to go through it all line by line right now… I’ll just say that making a general post to the forums in this manner isn’t going to garner the attention of Bonnie Ross (I assume that is the “boss” you are referring to toward the end of your post). H4 and H5 are out and done aside from any XB Live support, so any suggestions you have for improving those games may be welcome insights for future games, but not useful for those previous games. Like H5 split screen ain’t happening. If it was, it would have been done already.

There’s a lot of holes in your argument here man.

  • Alliance? I think you mean the Covenant, which btw was never called “the alliance”,even by it’s own members. - The Halo Reach multiplayer, forge, and campaign were great, but Bungie makes mistakes too considering the fact that Reach ruined the MLG side of Halo. - “I want you to take this seriously as constructive criticism and bring out great HALO games again in the future.” While some groups do share your perspective, you do represent the entire community, so from this standpoint as an individual you are not the one that gets to decide what makes the Halo Franchise great, and what makes the Halo Franchise bad. - But after the consistent story of HALO 1-3, something like this, like HALO 4 came up. HALO without the flood? really? It’s called a plot twist. Halo 1-3 was great, but having a new enemy and a new objective outside of ‘saving the galaxy from the flood’ brings a new type of interest to the game. Also, in a way, Halo was more about the Forerunners from the start than the Flood, so I personally think 343 did well by expanding upon the Forerunner backstory and lore in H4. - Also, there was never an alliance between the Covenant and Humanity. There was an alliance between the Sangheli Heretics and the Humans. So that group of Covenant in the campaign was apart of Jul Mdama’ “New Covenant”, which you can find more information on in the Kilo-Five Trilogy ( which is a trio of books, not just a simple forum). - The “Loser Chief 117” also released the Flood on HCE, and nearly killed everyone when he was almost tricked into activating the Halo ring.Halo 5 Argument Flaws:

  • You played Halo 5 four years after it’s release, so you missed a lot when it comes down to updates, so coming back after 4 years doesn’t give you much credibility to how well you know Halo 5 in terms of success. - You seem to be rather obsessed with the Flood to the point of where you think Flood is in the name. Here’s where your Mario Kart example goes sideways. There has to be cars of some form in Mario Kart because it’s Mario “KART”. There does not HAVE to be Flood in Halo because it’s not called Halo: The Flood. - Which Halo 5 Online are you referencing? Because Ranked Arena has more than 3 maps, Warzone has more than 3 maps, Infection has more than 3, Btb, Super Fiesta, and many other playlists have more than 3 maps. Even BREAKOUT has more than 3 for crying out loud. - Forge: Halo 5 Forge has multiple different different biome canvases that you can work with, and each one is about the size of Forge World if used correctly, so you haven’t done much forge if you think the maps are small. As for the Xbox Live side of things, Xbox Live has been around for a while, and if you don’t like the fact that Halo 5 is pretty much 90 percent online, don’t play it then. - “And a good possibility to play the maps with all people form the world.” If you want to play with people in China, don’t complain to 343 about expanding the U.S.A and EU servers. That’s a request for Microsoft, who currently control those servers. - Halo with a # after it is repetitive, so it’s nice that they’re mixing it up and calling it Infinite. - It’s an online cooperative game bud, not offline, and it clarifies that on the game info and the disk case. - As for no Split Screen, sure, that was a bummer, but split screen wasn’t what made Halo Halo, Halo was. - Multiplayer, I say "More variety than Halo 3 ever had.P.S. Even if they read your post and see the “constructive criticism”, that doesn’t mean they are required to use any of it in the future. Among the entire community your criticisms are about as useful as everyone else’s, and that’s not meant to be in insult, it’s just plain facts.
And as before, you are entitled to your own opinion, but you are not the deciding factor of what makes a Halo game a good Halo game.
    Good day to you,
    Chris J Kodiak.

Don’t worry, paragraph dissection established.

Team Osiris actually, and more like 79%.

This killed me lol. Makes sense because halo, the ring, which is in the title of the game was made to destroy the flood. Well, it’s food source at least.

Quickplay was designed to only have 3 maps so that new players could find matches quickly and learn the 3 main maps. And I love those maps! How dare you say no one likes these maps when one of those maps is a remake from Halo 2? Some big Halo fan you are!

Is this constructive criticism or a wish list?

Ok - 2 points^^

I)

> Covenant, which btw was never called “the alliance”

Ok, that’s right - I am sorry. I played the games in German language and I think there they called them “Allianz”. Of course I googled the word and the first google result was “Covenant (Halo)” - Wikipedia. I found also the word alliance in some context - so I use the word alliance because I felt more familiar with it. But yeah… was a little bit stupid because most of the google results were “covenant”. So please forgive me for the mistake.

II)

> Firstly, it’s called…

> …isn’t going to garner the attention of Bonnie Ross…

Ok, I see that my text was completely stupid and wrong. Sorry for my offense. As a punishment, I will exclude me from all HALO games for ever.

Lots to unpack here.

I liked H4, disagree with your points there. Just an FYI, you’re not fighting allies.

H5 I can partly agree with. I didn’t care for campaign and they should’ve added splitscreen but I loved the MP. I know it definitely had/has its flaws but it is still the best MP game of this generation in my opinion. Where is this “only 3 maps” thing coming from? Is that a reference to Warzone because that would make sense as that mode only had 3 maps at launch but it made sense why.

As for stuff you want in Infinite, some of it has been confirmed. It will have splitscreen and forge will have an undo button. I’m not exactly sure what you mean with that Josh Holmes comment but he has no part in Infinite as he left quite a while ago. He went to start his own studio, I think he’s working on a BR style game.

Not having the flood in a Halo game won’t make it bad, it’s the story that makes the franchise good in campaign mode and that’s why Halo 4 and Halo 5 have bad campaign because the scenarist wheren’t good or could be as good as the ones from past games.
The flood was great in the original trilogy because it was greatly written in the story and not because it was just here.

Also I have to disagree with you cuz the story is one of the best of the franchise.
Halo Reach story show how, before the events of the trilogy, the UNSC were losing more grounds everyday, how they lose their second most important planet.
It shows a very great tragic story in which you know the outcome but just keep going forward, a story of a true war when you can die at any moment and without “glory” or a “bang” but one where you have to sacrifice yourself for a “better” or “greater” cause.

Stop complaining Halo is still a great game. If you are complaining about Thrusters group pound and spartan charge, you guys just need to stop because at the end of the day Chief goes into cryosleep for 3-4 years of course the Armour and the UNSC are going to have more advanced technolagy.

Sad thing about 343 releases is that even though they are 0/3 for good first impressions, they have improved the majority of their titles. They just don’t have the same reputation that LA DICE got when they fixed BF4. If they could pull off a smooth launch and have modern game modes like a battle royale mode, it would easily be in the top 10 played games on Xbox for a while. Old arena shooters were made to include a battle royale mode. So many unique weapons, power ups, movement systems. Add that on top of core game modes and you got a hit on your hands.
