Honestly, there’s one problem I feel with these forums.
Everyone is telling 343i what to do, while they are professionals within the gaming industry, former community members, and fans of Halo themselves. They won’t ruin it, and after Reach they know that too much of a change is a bad thing. Reach was most likely so drastically changed due to it being a Swan Song.
We are not telling them what to do. We are telling them what we want them to do.
As you said most of them are big fans of Halo, as well as most of us. Most of us know what we are talking about just as 343 knows what they are doing(hopefully).
The Halo 4 forum is a placed for the community to post speculation and ideas. If we can’t do that, then there wouldn’t be a halo 4 forum. Besides. If 343 is a team of professionals, they’d know what to pick and what not to pick if they’d have to leaf through the topics. And sometimes, it’s best to listen to the community for things, because nothing’s better than getting the consumer’s (buyers) perspective.

Yeah, I understand that.
I’m just saying that 343i won’t take every idea into account since they know what’s right for the franchise. For example, killstreaks. Highly unlikely, and would disappoint some fans.

Yeah, I love speculation, just that not all ideas are great - if we’re saying “343i, you HAVE to do this” - then it could lead to something terrible. They know what’s right for the franchise.
> I think 343 wants us to suggest stuff to make their game better.
Not all suggestions can get in, and not all of them are actually fitting the community’s wants. I’m changing the title, hang on.

Like I said, they’re professionals. They’ll know when an idea’s amazing, and when it’s outright ridiculous.

I’m not trying to sound like a jerk, but saying that most of us know what we’re talking about is exaggeration. I’m not trying to say that anyone would have any less valid opinion than someone else, but someone who came to Halo with Halo 2, 3, or Reach simply doesn’t have such thorough understanding of the franchise as someone who has been part of it since the beginning. Then there are the people who don’t think what fits to Halo and what doesn’t, many times have I witnessed an idea that would completely change the core gameplay of Halo.
Everyone has their views on things, but too much is sometimes just too much. Not nearly everything is good for the franchise and I feel rather happy that there are professionals making the game instead of the community. In fact, just for curiosity, I sometimes think that it would be amusing to see a game that was made completely based on the ideas of community.
Anyhow, while we have right to say what we want from Halo 4, not many people here understand what they are asking for. But as they’re not really taking ideas from the community, and even if they did, probably would consider its effects really well, I see no problem with people posting ideas here. But I wouldn’t mind if people thought twice and reread their threads before posting.

Funny thing is, everyone said what you are saying now about Bungie with Reach. Just look at how that turned out.
As fans, it is our duty to voice or concerns/demands. If everyone just sat there quite, 343 would never know what the community wanted. How often do you go to subway and say “nah bro, but whatever YOU want on it! i’m sure you’ve got MY best interests in mind!” Same logic applies here. That said, I do have confidence in 343, but seeing as how they havn’t really done much thus far, it’s probably just wishful thinking. Even Anniversary was a lazy attempt (the engine was built by another studio entirely, and they opted to scrap the original MP in favor of a map pack for Reach.) This is the studio that everyone has so much faith in? Really guys? But I guess they were responsible for a mediocre sci fi novel set in the Halo universe. Oh, crap, that was outsourced too wasn’t it? Faith is one thing, but a majority of this community is driven by blind faith.
So long as 343 doesn’t take the ramblings of morons that support bloom, cR, and AA’s as a serious reflection of the community, I’ll be happy. What really worries me about 343 paying any attention to the community is the threat of overly vocal people giving them the impression that they represent the majority of Halo fans. Same goes for the ramblings of rabid H3 kids.
Telling the gaming developers what to do is a characteristic of gaming communities. Honestly, making a thread about it won’t have even the slightest effect. The problem is, people don’t even know what they want in a game half the time. While I feel that it’s essential that developers listen to the community, often times they just have to make their own decision. Especially since the community is so split on issues sometimes.
