With 343i branching out I have a message for microsoft. If 343i is going to make spin off games or anymore content like tv shows. Just don’t even waste the funds unless you have a competent story overseer that has the ultimate veto power over writers and producers “big ideas”.
I or any fan would do this pro bono. I just can’t watch 343i screw up Halo like Disney did Star Wars. I don’t even see Star Wars toys in Walmart anymore. I’m a man-child that walks the toy section every time I go to a store even if I don’t pick anything up.
This community seems to have lost all faith in 343i to have mantled this responsibility. With the TV series NOT being canon right off the bat, I ask why would a fan that invests their time and money into an irrelevant storyline that causes confusion between game and novel fans and tv fans?
We see this from hollywood all the time. They want to reach a broader audience so they change a popular (money making) IP’s story and feel for what I think they must think is to “make it better”. However, these IP’s loose their souls and in most fans opinions are worse than if the company hadn’t branched out at all. If they want to branch out they story isn’t the problem people need fixed. Its they medium that story is told in. I know people that only watch TV or movies that would never touch a book. Their are people that read everyday that think comics are only for kids. They have no idea the stories they are missing. For some reason studios think its the story that has capped in popularity even though it’s just the medium, so they change it to make it mainstream and loose what made it great to begin with.
I want Halo to succeed but honestly I don’t think whoever is charge of the expanded media for Halo is even a fan. I just hope if there are spin-off games they are made with fans in mind. Please, Do not screw up an ODST game. That might have people knocking at your door asking for an apology. You are on google maps after all.
