343i, Just Add Machinima Tools!

For several games, Halo has had secret features that allow you to lower your weapon, and a Theater mode to record videos. Unfortunantly, the Theater videos could not be watched or downloaded on a computer, and you had to have a capture device to make Machinimas.

343 Industries, stop beating around the bush and just finish it off in MCC. You have 4 games people could make videos with.

Here are some features that should be added (At least to Halo 2 Anniversary)

  • Theater in campaign (Like the original titles) (Halo 4 will not have this)- Easier way to lower weapon- Ability to not have a weapon- Ability to put your weapon on your back (or side)- Download Theater videos on your computer- Dolly camera Theater mode (where the camera follows a pre-set path)
Would you agree to these things? With a greater Machinima population, more content can go onto the Halo Channel.

I hope weapon lowering will return in Halo 2: Anniversary. It was in Halo 2 MM if I remember correctly, and it was as simple as a single button (down on d-pad I think)

It was a cool little feature and I really hope it returns, although there has been little to no demand for it so I don’t see it happening.

I doubt theatre mode will return. Since COD has taken it out because of the built in feature in the xbone. Also theatre uses a lot of the COU power recording when it’s resources could be used making the game more smooth and fast. Even though I love theatre I don’t think it will return.

These additions would no doubt be incredible, creating machinimas after the 11th is something I plan on doing quite often.

The ability to transfer film to PC would also be a nice feature, though I’ll be using Xbox Upload since that’s my home for creating videos. Anyways, I 100% agree with you.

I wish I would be a machinima director.

If 343i would add a good forge with good custom game options and a machinima mode There would be so much to do that the the next Halo wouldn’t die fast like halo4. Give the community a lot to work with!!

definitely need download theatre clips to your computer cos then people can make trailers, trailers for maps theyve made (what i would use it for) and like you said for machinimas

You should become one then  Upload offers you the tools if you don’t have a capture card.

This would be rather neat. I really enjoyed the stuff people made in Halo 3, so I’m 100% on board with this idea!

For Halo’s future in machinima, 343i should do this.

Can always use twitch to stream and than actually save the stream file from your computer! Gasp!

Yea, you sorta can. There is a work around for it but it works. It involves extensions/ software and youtube grabbing. It is a bit of work now that I think about it.

It’s not quite that simple. A video is a series of pictures played in a sequence. That is not at all what a Theater file is. A Theater file is a record of all of the players’ actions in a map.

Bungie Pro allowed players to download Theater files directly to their computers without a capture card, but all it did is capture footage the way the clip was originally recorded. This is fine for montages since all you need is the player’s POV, but it would be useless for machinimas like Red vs. Blue.

Theater mode is confirmed for MCC, “Where it was before it will be again”
plus Halo 2 Anniversary theater.

Halo theatre files are not actually video files, they are reinactions of what happened in the game, like a puppet show. They need to be rendered. So they may have a limited use for rendering unless they have some sub for more render time.

Machinima is such a huge part of the community, and having 343 refusing to add such a small and simple design to their game that’s made to call out classic halo fans is such a -Yoink- move. Only because they add in big game types like Forge, Custom Game options, More Matchmaking playlists, but not bothering add them in sais nothing more than they don’t care about the machinima community.

I think weapon lowering would be useful. Plus, I think 343 should manage the file sending system better. It is hard to record perfectly in theater, especially when you are nodding the player heads up and down.

I’m just worried about this for Red vs. Blue’s sake
