343i is really trying most of our patience.

I understand it’s corporate policy to have holidays and that it might take time to get weekly updates or Halo Bulletins together to present to us. However at a crucial time in the vocal community we haven’t gotten any offhand news about the next Title Update, nor have we gotten any update other than the tried -Yoink!- Tournaments on the News Page which nobody seems to care about.

To me that is somewhat ridiculous. I could give them every excuse in the world as most others have, such as them being a new company. That it’s their first game, that they worked hard to make this experience come together (which seems incorrect based on the amount of outsourcing they have done), or most could just fall back and say ’ It’s just a game, go do other things. ’ which I have for the last week.

I wasn’t the person who went to get Black Ops 2 when it was released, having bought Halo 4 first. I bought Halo 4 for being a Halo game, I expected it to be at least as polished and a wholesome experience than Reach was when I first got it. I may not know all the circumstances to why 343i is falling short in areas like the File Share, Custom Options, Forge Tools, Netcode, Weapon / Ability Balance, Beta Testing, or common map / weapon glitches but it is their responsibility to live up to their own words and make this Halo 4 experience the best yet. They have no lenience from me and the more they rely on excuses just shows their unprofessional nature.

Do you know how easy it would be to satisfy people with a Halo Bulletin listing their ideas of changing the issues that have been brought to the table? Even if it might anger other people, waiting for you to update without noting the issues first is only going to delay the inevitable. This company had a huge financial backing, an assembled ton of talent (apparently) and the span of 3 years to make something incredible but yet it seemed so forced out at a untimely matter it seems ridiculous.

If I came back from holiday and 80-90% of the forum posts were complaints I would freak out and do something besides moderating them away, I’d get to work on at least letting them know when the next Title Update is. 343i was doing a pretty good job updating this game weekly before this whole holiday shamble started so I will give them that one excuse to turn this around. If the same behavior carries on as the holiday season I have no hope for Halo 5 and I certainly won’t be picking it up until I’m sure that 343i matures from all this.

I really want this game to succeed and while I realize it is a completely different game with ideas and methods from many different games and times of FPS while still trying to be Halo, it does not need it’s community to be treated like this. Those who stayed after Black Ops 2, those who continue playing after Christmas Day and those who have been around since Halo CE deserve your whole attention. Do it for them, do it for no other reason that they have given you a shot and will follow you as long as you treat them right.

That’s about it, I’m glad I let that out. It’s already 2 business days into the year 343i, and every day after that you are losing ground. It’s time to step it up.

January ain’t over yet.

343i said that there would not be a bulletin for a few weeks.
This shouldn’t be a surprise.

Bsangel already commented in a thread that the next bulletin will not talk about the Title Update but we will receive news soon.

So, please just be patient. They will let us know about the TU when the time is right.

They said the Title Update would be early January, not mid. They need to do a lot more damage control than just ’ we will receive news soon. ’ and for them not even to mention anything about the Title Update might as well tell the populace that it isn’t even remotely ready to go yet and that we might see it late January instead.

It has been a few weeks since we have gotten a proper bulletin that hasn’t been riddled with truck ads, -Yoink!- Tournament news or other unrelated information. I don’t want to hear any more excuses.

Lets hope the update is a Halo 4 recall and a letter of apology.

love the game, but good luck on updates this isn’t bungie

They talked about it weeks ago. People are spending too much time whineing and not enough time searching.

the netcode in halo 4 is good, everything else I agree with though.

As part of “everyone”, you don’t speak for me.

They said we would have a TU in Jan. It’s still January. They don’t release specifics pre-TU, they give us the patch notes after it’s been published to prevent people from abusing (even more than they are now) bugs/glitches before they can be patched.

Sorry, it’s their game and they don’t require any of our approval to patch the game in they timeframe and manner they choose. If you want creative control, you will need to design your own game.

Seeing as how if they release the patch on Jan 31, it will still be 2 months faster than the next fasted TU in Halo history, I am willing to be more patient than the average “fan”

This, too much whining not enough searching. Besides the vocal community you speak of is only a vocal minority. 80-90% of the forum posts aren’t complaints. In fact most are the SAME people posting over and over again, most polls have showed a 50-50 praise vs hate on halowaypoint… as if halowaypoint even represents the halo community at large, which by the way is too busy enjoying the game to waste their time complaining on a forum.

My post in a recent thread called “343 did I ever tell you…” on the first page, clears up “why this isn’t true’s” about a significant amount of the fearmongering and false complaints on here.

343 isn’t losing ground. They are only ticking off a vocal minority which in the big picture doesn’t mean alot to them anyway. Sorry bud… hate to pop your bubble but you aren’t really going to make a difference in the course of halo history. All the complaint threads in the world won’t do that.

$ from casuals is greater than $ from competatives…

That right there should be enough for a logical mind to determine what is going to happen next to halo. And it’s not going to be the death of halo because of that $$$.

It might just be departure from MLG, which would be admittedly unfortunate as that is one of my favorite aspects of halo.

But truth is there is nothing we can do about, and please cut the bull about halo dieing. It’s simply not going to happen, at least for a solid number of years anyway.

I’m gonna laugh when the update doesn’t address any problems with this game. Or none that you all noticed.

> I’m gonna laugh when the update doesn’t address any problems with this game. Or none that you all noticed.

I’m going to be ok with whatever changes the make. I’m enjoying the game.

I enjoyed Halo 3, 2 and CE as well. What a vocal minority thinks and can’t shut heir pie holes about, is immaterial to my enjoyment, luckily

It’s January 4th!

Mid-January? Please re-look at the calendar. Wait till the 8th.

OP, excellent post. You are 110% correct on everything.

> Lets hope the update is a Halo 4 recall and a letter of apology.

THIS.

343 is really trying everyone’s patience?
Funny… my patience isn’t being tried by 343. Guess I don’t count in “everyone”.

OP, my patience isn’t being tried. Also, you say 343 is losing ground every day? Losing ground to what? And how?

Not once did I type that Halo was dead/dying nor whether they were catering specifically to me or to the casual/competitive markets. I definitely don’t want creative control over this game either, as it seems much too hard for a ‘complainer’ like myself. They definitely said early January, so yes I’m obviously waiting like the rest of you until the 14th when that changes to be mid. Obviously it needs to roll out before the 19th when all the new content comes out so the people who come back have incentive to stay.

But as much as 343i isn’t Bungie, a lot of Ex-Bungie is involved so I foolishly expect things to be comparable to when they had the reigns.

Also to the people who are here to comment on my Title who don’t even read my post, +1 posts like this contribute nothing to 343i’s defense.

343i is losing ground in a lot of ways, to other games that are similar like Black Ops 2, in credibility in their own statements, in vocal opinion and popularity.

You guys can say the complainers may be a minority, but for every complainer there are at least 2 people who won’t speak about it and quit. That’s the business model most companies work with. We are customers first and foremost, after all.

If you don’t individually believe in the things I say, that does not discredit them, thanks.

You keep saying they are losing ground and what they’re losing ground to, but how are they losing ground?
Sales? Halo 4 sold the most out of any halo game on day 1.

Population? They’re number 2 on top Xbox live activity.
