343i is obsessed with Spartans

Why is 343i so obsessed with Spartans? They practically worship them. I wouldn’t be surprised if they worshipped a giant Master Chief statue in the forests once a year. They took out Elites in MP, are taking away Flood, Invasion is gone. They are making Halo a Spartans only club.

Spartans have always been the center focus of Halo and Bungie did their fair share of spartan loving too. And if they loved the Chief so much they wouldn’t be shoehorning in Locke as his equal/counterpart. Jus sayin.

Or the other six spartans never seen before in a game. It’s not spartan worship, it’s plot development.

This isn’t about the plot, it’s about aesthetics and customization. When playable Elites are taken out in Halo 4, and 343 refused to answer whether or not they’re coming back in Halo 5 for months, then finally answer by saying “It’s all Spartans, all the time!”… They practically rubbed it in our face that Elites weren’t coming back. Whether or not it was intentional, it felt like 343 was taunting the Elite fanbase.

They probably were doing just that.

Elites are bigger, Spartans are smaller. Elites make bigger targets, Spartan’s make smaller targets.Elites are easier to kill, Spartans are harder to kill. If 343i added Elites it would make the lives of all the lower skill players, like myself, easier. We can’t have that. No, no, no, no, no. And no.

Hunters in the Dark almost made Elites seem god like compared even to Spartans.

So what if we’d be bigger targets? More points for Spartans and noobs. Also, why are Spartans training against Spartans? They will never fight another IV for real. They will be fighting Elites ; henceforth, they should be fully playable to really train nooby Spartans. Man 343i, it’s Spartan worship, I’m telling you.

It’s as much loving balance in multiplayer and careful use of resources as it is loving Spartans.

Elites are a pain to balance, which is especially a problem when Halo 5 is trying to push competitiveness so much. Elites were even banned from MLG tournaments, so focusing on the things that they can really concentrate on refining and balancing was a more productive option.

If you’re bigger targets, then that completely throws Arena settings out the window, because now everyone isn’t starting with equal traits. You’ve seen the effort put into pushing competitive, Arena gameplay back into Halo, right?

And Spartans do train against Elites too. It’s called the Anvil Initiative. It’s just not featured in game because of gameplay issues.

Coughcough New Blood Coughcough

Uhh, yeah okay then. We’d be exactly that.

Implementing and balancing playable Elites is in all honesty a waste of resources considering that a large majority of Halo players don’t even choose to play as them. I’m all for choice and I get that some players want to be different, but I can’t blame 343 for having playable Elites being low on the priority list.

Just give every Elite a Spherical helmet panel: Assault, Flight, Ranger, etc. Then hunch the elites down due to the Infinity’s Earthly gravity to Spartan height.

The hunchback Elites in Halo 2 and 3 made them harder to headshot.

Theatre and Screen shots should be low on their list. I don’t see a community about that anywhere. It’s not a waste of resources if it gets you your old fans, and some new ones, back.

Then they should implement a menu panel where the party leader can choose disable or enable Spartans or Elites. Problem solved.

I think the best solution to the balance vs canon issue would be to add Elites to Halo 5 in a similar way to Halo Reach. They would be larger than Spartans, have more effective shields to make up for it, and only appear in designated gametypes and custom games. However, they could also take it a step further than Reach by adding an Elite Slayer playlist, rather than making it just an option in Team Slayer.

It would be even better if Elites were playable in every gametype. I know 343i can think of something. One idea could be to make playable Elites smaller. They could be a Sangheili subspecies from Suban or Qikost. They are Spartan height and have limited military resources, thus they must trade with the UNSC. This gives them Spartan-like armor. Boom, problem solved.

Maybe Arena settings are too used up in many other franchises. Halo is too good for that. IMO, if you want arena style gameplay, play Battlefield or CoD. Halo should be a diverse game, where your skill with your species is your weapon. Look at DB: Xenoverse, you have the option of being different species, and that game turned out awesome (beside all the dubbing mistakes). Halo could be the next that.
