343i is the issue. Microsoft is also the issue. You cannot make a case for this studio anymore. Them making an actual ground-up Halo title that is functional and true to the Halo name is statistically non-existent. They can’t even consolidate pre-existing code and assets on the first try. In literally any other professional setting, no matter how big or small, this track record would have resulted in the studio being dissolved after the 2nd failure.
Saying that 343i is the best option is statistically, objectively, proven to be false. I’d rather have CDPR make a Halo title and launch it Cyperpunk style; at least the majority of issues would be fixed within a year, and it would have all the content promised to the players + more.
343i have factually failed as a studio, with the help of Microsoft. Stop the futile exercise of making a baseless case for this disastrous studio.
To be honest, I would rather have no Halo game until someone half-way comptent can put one out.
343 can talk as much as they want, but at the end of the day, something has gone so horribly wrong at some point in Infinite’s development that the game is bordering on unfixable. If it takes close to a year for basic features to be added, thats a significant problem. I dont think any of the proposed deadlines for Infinite will ever be met at this point.
How much does 343 need to screw up for people to demand change? Do they need to put a game where the omly thing in the game case is a picture of a hand giving them a middle finger?
There are more practical solutions besides shuttering an entire studio and halting development altogether.
Hire more people. Speak to the community more often. Loosen up NDAs so speaking is easier and more concise because you know damn well they’re restrictive as hell.
The reason Microsoft gave her a chance was because her pitch included how 343i would own and manage everything Halo 100%.
They chose to allocate resources to make a cookbook lol
Tatanka is sioux for Bison/Buffalo. Could be a battle royale, could be a run and gun mode. could be so early in development that they haven’t decided yet.
I think the liikelihood of them hiring another studio entirely to work on another mode that ISN’T a BR mode is very unlikely, that being said leakspaint it as a sort of comoplicated mode, not the typical BR mode. But regardless expect it to a BR mode basically, the question is when not if.
Well, I’ve tried to engage in some discussion here, but my post is pending approval. I’ve never seen that before. I must have a black listed word or phrase in there…
Stay tuned, I suppose…
Well, not sure what happened to my post. I’ll try to say it again in a different way.
In general, I don’t think most folks are calling for a total studio change, but just a plea (a desperate one at this point) to change something, anything! I’m not going to throw out names because we don’t actually know who is making the final decisions, we have an idea based on job titles, but who knows the actual dynamics.
What 343 needs more than anything is good management, someone that can competently lead the studio, allocate resources to the right place and also have a clear plan for the series.
I’m thinking the problem runs deeper. Maybe to the one who thought “Lead Live Service Designer” wasn’t necessary until 9 months after the game launched.
I wonder if there’s a world where another studio is brought in slowly, and takes over campaign/lore offerings (which so far just don’t feel like 343s strong suit to me.) Then 343 can keep developing multiplayer, and multiplayer alone.
I’m curious how much effort the studio is already putting into “the endless,” and when we can expect any sort of campaign extension… sadly I’m guessing it may not even be next year (at which point I wish we could just go back to getting a new game every 3 years. If the 10 year plan only has campaigns every 3 years, it’s of little use to me.
Like folks’ve been saying… The upper management beyond 343i is really bad. But you know, bankroll - can’t waste money on that position! Until - oh no why are we failing!?
Thaaaaaaaaaat’s just it. I feel like they’re hard at work on it, because the studio IS NOT SMALL but…
Live service support
Cosmetics production
Game development in general
Sandbox updates
Design documents
I could go on and on but they have to carefully consider every single thing and approve it just as well.
