343i is fixing UI, potentially lobbies *update*

ATTENTION
343i has since mentioned a menu UI update and Post-game carnage report update. No word on Party up however.

> Teams across the studio have continued to dig through your feedback across a variety of forums, boards, and more on the greater ChatterNet, including items such as CSR, in-game and menu UI, and much more. We’ll continue talking about these and more over the next few weeks as we prepare future updates. On that topic, the first Halo 5: Guardians update, Battle of Shadow and Light, is set to drop within the next few days. Let’s talk about the content, tuning tweaks, and more that’s on the way.

> Our friends on the Waypoint team have planned an update of their own this week, too. They’re sneaky and clever like that. For starters, we’ll see an improved post game carnage report (PGCR) for Arena and Warzone, including:
> IMPROVED ARENA / WARZONE PGCR
> Weapons
> You’ll see all of the weapons the player used in the round with kills, accuracy, and headshots.
> Most Killed
> You’ll see the player you killed the most, along with the amount of times you killed them.
> Most Killed By
> You’ll see the player who killed you the most, along with the amount of times they killed you.
> Medals
> You’ll see all of the medals the player has earned with an indication of how many times it was earned, ordered by times earned.
> Updated stats trends are also on the way, including K/D and KDA, where you’ll see the last 10 matches trend with rolling average from the last 5 matches, and total kills and deaths, where you’ll see the trend for the last 10 matches.

my semi upset OP reads as:

Do I need to even continue?
I guess I will so this doesn’t get locked… here are my points that I don’t think much elaboration.
note: using a kindle fire to type, sorry for the bluntness

Pregame:

-No names, just emblems is ok but I’d like to see who’s on my team, or even what team I am on.
-No service record checking or even rank listing… (I am 50/50 on quitters who leave due to intimidation, but aware)
-No way to mute the dude having a party making random noises or the baby crying
-how do I know who is talking to me? Please just add chat boxes!
-voting is no longer necessary but the low map/gametype variety makes me miss it… (I’m sure I’m not the only one goes into SWAT and mood drops when SWATNUMS is selected.)
fun fact swatnum auto-corrects to Satanism on my Kindle Fire!***

Post game:
-No medal checking? How am I supposed to feel proud about my running riot if I can’t even see it myself? Also I cannot check what the new medals I get even mean. Rendering medals almost useless?
-still no way to see who is talking… how do I make friends without a Mic? Lol I’d rather not back out of MM to add a friend… This leads to…:

-lastly and most importantly…
NO PARTY UP OPTION? This is ridiculous. This was THE way I made most of my halo friends. I would go on MM ALONE. have a few shifty games and one by one (or maybe all at once) encounter some key players that were either funny, or cunningly skilled and it felt so great to build my team game after game. We become unstoppable and by the end of the night we send each other friend requests so we could keep it up later. How is it that this new multiplayer experience could be so keen on team play but miss out on such a CRUCIAL detail? It’s extremely depressing to sit in post game lobbies now. Knowing that if one of us doesn’t speak up, we will likely never play the same game again.

I feel like cod even does a better job now. Halo was always the king of lobbies for me and now it is meh… can we get a fix? I would have appreciated a “hey they lobbies are different and open to change guys, let us know!”
Am I crazy for not digging this? What do you guys think?

I agree… the UI sucks.

“Gives game has been only out for less than a month speech” I’m sure the UI will be altered and updated in the future, and I’m sure giving suggestions as to what you would like to see could give it a chance to evolve into something better. Your points are well made and I agree with all of them, but don’t think that what they have done is entirely written in stone as you can see with the responses from the aiming mechanics and it now being fixed, that they could do the same with the UI and the best I can say about the medals for now is to look either in the service record on the site or through a Halo Channel app, you can click on medals and they will have the list of them all and yes I understand the “I shouldn’t have to use another app or site to see my medals” response, but currently that’s the best I can give till they possibly change things.

I agree. The lobby needs an overhaul. I want to see who I’m playing with in the lobby with the ability to party up after the match. I guess this wouldn’t work by 343’s “PRO” standards… smh.

Today’s my last day of playing before dumping this game. The lobby UI is just one of many reasons why this will be my last Halo. What a massive disappointment. Started playing with 8 friends and they’ve all moved on to better games.

100% agree, worst lobby system ever. Of all time.

I strongly agree on the 3 points here.

Why can’t I see the medals I earned from a game without going to a website? Then they give a boost card for “medal count”? What’s that about? How am I supposed to know how many medals I earned?

No voting? I’ve played this map 4 times in a row already, please let me at least vote for a different one. If I lose the vote, oh well, but at least I had a vote.

Knowing who’s talking would be a huge help too. At this point I’ve been sacrificing team play because of all the annoying kids and their loud music and swear words. I’ve been starting a party-of-one before I launch multiplayer so I don’t have to deal with it. But that means I can’t hear if there are normal people on my team who actually want to use their mic for its intended purpose.

I agree, i dont know what they where thinking while creating this UI. I think it whas more in this direction, “Oh -Yoink- we spent so much time on getting halo back to the pro’s we forgot about the UI and the deadline is tomorrow. Aw well lets do just this and hope nobody will notice.”

For me, the matchmaking is so fast that I wouldn’t even have time to view other people’s armor and service record if I could.

I agree with all the complaints about post-game, though.

It’s an abomination lacking the basics. How could a triple A studio flop so bad. Compared to the beta, someone decided to try a last ditch effort, not sure why. Furthermore, it just always proves how unpredictable and inconsistent 343 is. You don’t know what they will take out, change, and they will not tell you why sometimes. I try so hard to figure out how could a Lobby be this bad in Halo, and I can’t think of a single excuse. I feel like 343 try so hard to make their own mark on Halo, that they end up completely missing the ball, especially when they keep changing the mark cuz they aren’t nailing what makes a good halo game.

Social playlists lacking, earning armor non existent, -Yoinking!- up the aiming because they are hipsters always wanting to change something to be different from what worked. Pro Tip 343, Bungie already has a majority of the Blueprint ready right in front of you >:o

They need to change the UI ASAP

Some of that pregame stuff is to keep people from quitting right away, which I like. While I wish I could see my medals in the carnage report it still doesn’t show half the time and you can check in your profile on the site here to see your flashy medals. You can see who’s talking once the game starts, better than nothing I suppose. Finally in MCC I made tons of friends by inviting those fun to play guys you speak of into a party after game. Usually towards the end of the game I’ll ask them if they want to. Just do the best you can, it isn’t that bad.

Oh plz, it’s bad when it can’t even contend with CE, open you’re eyes and stop excepting whatever the developers throw out at you. Even the glitchy MCC could accomplish this, if it ain’t that bad, then you are not giving 343 any encouragement to step their game up. They are going to think “hmm it’s fine, people aren’t really being vocal about it and they think it’s ok.” Halo deserves better, they need set the bar, not make people play limbo and be content.

I agree.

I too agree. It seems that 343 dropped a lot of things that made halo a perfect Multiplayer First Person Shooter. I think war zone is was a cool idea, but why take away the pre-existing elements that are fundamental part of halo. Was the removal of so many features because they wanted 60fps? If so that was a waste, because who really cares about 60fps. Also the crap with no split screen is ridiculous. You mean to tell me that you can launch a game with every halo (minus reach), with multiplayer and full campaign, plus remastered visuals, but you can’t make one game with all the features that all previous halos had before. I’m pretty sure 343 was not developed by people that actually play halo. So yes I agree that the lobbies are screwed up, but so are a lot of other features too.

Voting for maps was removed for exactly like you said, playing the same maps, people would get upset losing votes and playing “be” only or specific Map’s over and over. With the game doing it now no one can blame other players, now they get to see either way it doesn’t matter how voting goes or random maps go as generally most games will still pick the same maps over and over. FYI the more popular maps get picked first due to higher chance in the map RNG system, hence why same maps get picked.

completely agree, both pre and post match screens are terrible. No tool of destruction, MVP, who killed who the most, medals. Pre-lobby sucks because I hear some butt wipe screaming on the other end and I can’t do anything to mute him until the match starts

I agree on some of your points, but disagree with others.
I completely agree with you in regards to not seeing the medals you received at the post-carnage report. They have an Exp Req Pack boost for medals in a game, but you can’t even check how many medals you received at the end of the game. Interesting.

I disagree with you in regards to pre-game lobby and being able to see your opponents in that lobby. Dashboard quitting was rampant in H4 and MCC because of being able to see your opponents. I am willing to compromise and say if you are joining solo in a team playlist, you should be able to see your teammates, but that is it.

Removing voting was a good idea, because people dashboard quit due to their option was not chosen and they get very upset. I think there should be a veto option in place like in H3, just in case (going on previous experience) you play rig 6 times in a row in Doubles.

Before the game starts, you can just hit X for the mute all button if that helps out. The party up option is still kind of there, if you or the people do not leave after you complete the game, you have a high chance for having the same teammates. Or you can just send people a party invite or message after the game you just played and play with them that way.

Agreed. Party up option needs to be implemented immediately.

None of the other halos were made on Xbox one, MCC is excluded because its not 60fps. I’m not disagreeing that they couldn’t do it, but there’s no hard evidence yet as to if halo 5 couldn’t support split screen, just a lot of speculation.
