Josh Holmes’ post (as SalientOne) which can be seen here mentions that Warzone will also feature a Base Assault variant that’s strictly PvP; it sounds like it’ll share some similarities to Halo: Reach’s Invasion and the community created Conversion from Halo 4 along with other former past 1-sided game types like Assault and One Flag. I’m quite excited about that, but that’s not the subject of this thread as I’m not seeking further clarity on that particular variant.
Instead, I wonder if the “classic Big Team Battle (BTB) experience” that Josh refers to at the bottom of his post means that it will be offered through Warzone (24 player; 12v12) or as a separate Big Team Battle playlist that’s been traditionally setup for 16 players (8v8)?
At the top of his post he says that we (343i) have two different variants planned for Warzone which leads me to think that perhaps you’re planning to return that so-called “classic” 8v8 BTB playlist separate of Warzone; though, later on after launch given the final comments at the bottom of the thread. However, also down at the bottom of his post he begins by referring to how Warzone’s variants play differently and then starts the next sentence with the terms “In addition” which goes on to discuss how you’re working on the so-called “classic” Big Team Battle experience; listing, timed weapon and vehicle spawns. That choice of sentence structure and terminology can be seen as implying that those so-called “classic” BTB experiences are actually just the timed weapon and vehicle features and that they’re something you’re looking to add to Warzone (and in turn Warzone maps) after launch; meaning no 8v8 BTB playlist with non-Warzone maps. So I’m left wondering what is it that he’s getting at? Will we be getting more 12v12 PvP game types in Warzone with classic Big Team elements like timed weapon and vehicle spawns or a more traditional Big Team Battle playlist (16 player; 8v8) that’s separate from Warzone with it’s own maps?
