This post probably won’t get read by 343i and nothing will probably come of it but the only thing worse than trying and getting told no is to never try. My favorite quote to live by is “Losers visualize the penalties of failure, winners visualize the rewards of success.”
The point of this post if the dream really did come true would be for 343 to bring me on as a representative to the community to voice our opinions, help fix the relationship/reputation 343 has with the community currently, and improve the current state of Halo multiplayer (both competitive and social). I can guarantee with the strongest ambition and intent that I could fix these issues and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that they could, however I want to do something about it, and if enough people respond to this post favorably then maybe, just maybe, 343 will recognize the severity of their predicament in the eyes of the fans.
Before I continue I should probably give a little background info on myself. I never played Halo 2 multiplayer, it wasn’t my fault but my parents for being to overprotective and against “M” games when i was a young teen. I have played Halo 3, Reach, and 4 extensively and have played every Halo’s campaign. I am a huge and devoted fan to halo and it was the reason I bought my 360. Some other games I like to play include Bioshock and formerly Mass Effect (Hated the ending but I’m not here to talk about that). I am also an engineering college student and I enjoy long romantic walks on the beach (I hope the sarcasm comes across on that last one).
Now back to the subject at hand, I will do a very simple and basic overview of what I would do to fix the multiplayer, I won’t give an in depth analysis and plan on here because frankly I don’t have the time (I am in engineering still) and it isn’t my job yet. As a precursor before I constructively criticize the game I do want to disclose that I do enjoy playing Halo 4 multiplayer, if you disagree that’s fine everyone is entitled to their opinion I would, however, appreciate if the responses to this post could refrain from bashing me and saying I am not a “True Halo Fan” simply because I enjoy a flawed multiplayer.
What I would target my focus on if I were hired is I would scan the forums as much as possible and have good conversation with active members to make sure that I am not fixing my discrepancies with the multiplayer but the community’s discrepancies as a collective group. As it stands now, and in accordance with my opinion, I believe the biggest issues to be the Ranking system (Which I know is being implemented soon, but it won’t be visible in game big mistake), I would make separate social and ranked playlists because part of the issue is with only ranked playlists basically every game becomes “super try hard” and does not facilitate casual gamers and hardcore/competitve gamers, getting mlg back involved (or something similar because of the whole contract dispute between -Yoink!- and mlg) would be a priority to get Halo back in the mainstream competitive gamers’ minds.
There are more things I would do and how I would go about it but I don’t wont to be too long winded or this post won’t get read. I also don’t want to go into to much detail before finding out how much support I will get from the community. I don’t want anybody reading this or 343 to think I am pandering for a job, they could even decide not to pay me unless i produce results, I just want to give back to a game that has meant so much to me and to others out there (hopefully reading this).
If you agree with my plans and ambitions here please comment, let 343 know, do whatever you feel is necessary to get this out there so 343 will at least have to respond to this at the very least, but the only thing worse than doing something and failing is to not do anything at all as I said above.
