343i Help!

PLEASE READ 343 EMPLOYEE. MICROSOFT ASSURED ME YOU WOULD

I have two separate issues I need to discuss with someone from 343 Industries. After contacting Microsoft, they assured me you would answer my forum post.

First, what is with this ranking system. My Gamer tag (NeroTag) has fortunately not suffered this consequence. But my girlfriend, however, (Gamertag : Starskiwars) who plays right next to me on a separate Xbox one, behind the same router, has been rest 6 times now. 6 times! She hasn’t been able to get past 18. Reset every single time. It is getting ridiculous. It just happened again roughly 5 minutes before this post. I don’t uderstand what is wrong with this game. How could you have sold this to us? I would like reasonable compensation for attempting to play the game I was sold, and experiencing the demoralizing feeling of having all your work for naught, not once, not twice, not three times, but SIX different times.

Secondly, I need to speak with someone who can look at IP statistics. I do not need general troubleshooting information. I have tried everything, changed my router, modem, cable splitters, installed a cable amplifier, and contacted my ISP We commonly expereince intermittent lag problems, and I am still trying to determine if it is my ISP or if it may be an issue on your end. I typically do not experience lag like this outside of this game, so I am suspect it has something to do with your servers. Are their known problems with two xbox ones connecting to your servers behind one gateway?
We commonly experience a ping pong lag situation, where one person will lag into black screen for 5-10 seconds, while the other plays, and then it swaps. This may occur for just a minute, across games for hours, or not happen for days. I generally get packet loss rates during these times around 21%, which makes me suspect of a funneling problem caused by my ISP, but I still am trying to determine these things. It is a problem that would likely be explained by a poor connection to my apartment complex from my ISP (Comcast), but I have complained to them plenty and have confirmed it isn’t a problem from my apartment unit to the main line, but it could still be an issue from there. I am working with their maintenance department. I was curious if there was any unusual activity on the end of your servers that could either explain this, or at the very least, confirm the issue is in fact with my ISP. (Proof of that would be great in my battle with them to acquire due credit).

Thank You for taking your time to read this, and please, please someone advise.

As is per usual Microsoft have told you the wrong thing. This is a community site, one that 343 hardly visits, except to make updates to the news and blogs section. And they very VERY rarely ever visit the forums anymore. Asking for help from a 343 employee on here isn’t going to resolve anything you are having issues with, as only other players are available to help you since there is no “official” technical support.

The ranking system resets are a known issue, and were not addressed in the last update, since this was to mainly stabilise matchmaking and vastly improve the long search times many players were experiencing and fix other associated bug/glitches. There is still another update coming which may fix the rank reset issue.

As for compensation, 343 have already stated that anyone who played the game online in any way between its launch and 19/12/14 would be eligible to receive a free 1 month extension to their XBL subscription, extra nameplates and avatars in game and a free remakes of the Halo 2 map Relic and the Halo 3ODST campaign remastered in 1080p 60FPS. This is to compensate those people who had to endure the worst of the matchmaking issues that plagued MCC during the early months.

As for the internet connection issues, asking 343 to check if its a problem at their end is a bit much. They will have thousands of players connecting to their servers each day, all with different IP addresses. Having to take time to check through all these constantly changing IP addresses would take away time and resources from any ongoing projects and would just prove pointless as it would prove nothing more than you actually connected to the Halo servers. Running a fast internet connection doesn’t mean that you wont get any form of lag, specially if you end up in a p2p game and the host has a bad connection. Also, if the connection is “ping pong” like you said, it could simply be that your XB1 consoles are fighting against each other for the better connection to the game.
