343i has shown their true colors and is now using the title of HALO as a cash grab

I agree! 343 I’m slightly disappointed at how money hungry you are with your store. It’s become very apparent to me that you have “released” the multiplayer in “beta” just so you can milk in all the money from us. The fact that an armour set would cost me $35 NZD is disgusting, that’s almost half the price of purchasing the physical copy of Halo Infinite, on just armour. I understand you need to make money from a F2P multiplayer but there’s a point when things are just over priced and it’s just a blatant money grab. I think your team needs to look at how they price your store items. I have played halo since 2001 and this is extremely disappointing that Halo is becoming a money grab multiplayer system. Halo used to be made with the player at heart rather than looking at each player as a cash cow. I miss the armour unlock system in Halo 3 and Reach, but I guess there’s a difference between Bungie and 343 isn’t there? Stop focusing so much on your HCS take pay attention to those of us that are casual players because we love the game, not to be the best, but to just have fun.

Yup I picked the Armor I wanted through the battle pass, and one color coating it all was paid by a gift card I got a while ago. I’m sticking to it. It looks like the Halo 2 Spartans style color scheme. They can shove it with the whole you have to pay for every armor peice BS. They could have brought back commendations and had armor acheived through that.

They new what they were doing was financial predatory behavior.

Please 343,
Let there be more free armor parts for f2p players, at least 1 or 2 armor sets through the free battle pass. Allow f2p people to customize a little for free will show new players the fun of making their own unique spartan, which honestly could encourage people to buy the battle pass.
Please make Armor Kits presets and not skins you can’t change. It’s cool to look like your favorite character, but it make no sense to lock some of the armor in there. For example Emile’s shoulder piece with his iconic big knife can’t be obtain as a separate shoulder piece, it’s only in the Armor Kit. Add all those missing armor pieces to the battle pass. Halo customization has always been about making your own spartan, and this absolutely counterintuitive to that idea.
And armor coatings should be used all ALL armor cores, no exceptions. For the same reason as the last point.
Plus the cash shop is upsetting, there is so much customization locked behind HUGE paywalls, I’d would love to see it gone, but probably better idea as a compromise, allow players to earn credits through playing matchmade games. Maybe through the weekly challenges. So people can feel rewarded if they go on a grind to unlock something they like.

This is from a fan that is willing to spend some money on your game beyond the $60 for the campaign, but these systems are too restrictive and you’re asking for WAY too high of a price for what you’re selling. Please fix it, and I’ll be willing to buy the battle pass, maybe more. And I’m sure others would be happy to pay for stuff as well if the system is made fair, because right now, it’s very far from feeling fair in anyway.

I saw the challenges for this “event”, which is literally just Fiesta" played one bs match and just sat there thinking “why am I playing this? I’ve played 200+ matches on here and for what? The bp is a mess with so little content between levels. Why am I playing?” So for me I just got rid of the game, I’ll install it again on the 7th, but for now I’m done. This scummy system has burnt me out and driven me away, and I know I’m nowhere near the only one. But hey, campaign sounds good, so that’s an up. That’s my main focus anyway.

I agree. As a long time player and fan of Halo, it sucks to see them do the bare minimum. The gameplay itself is perfect, but no proper level system like we’ve always had, no dedicated playlists, then add the battle pass and cosmetic issues you mentioned… not to mention we aren’t getting co op or forge until middle of next year.
I know 343 has a lot going on, but the game was delayed, has been in development for years, and we’ve all provided feedback throughout the flights.

yes, we don’t have to buy the cosmetics but when everything is geared towards making you buy them instead of earning them, it feels greedy. They said they didn’t want it to feel like a grind or create FOMO but here we are. A good bit of the stuff in the new event is behind a paywall too. It just sucks to see this happen to Halo. I really hope they make adjustments and listen to the criticism that is going around right now.

Microsoft probably forced 343 to do this, ‘follow the trends’ and monetize it. that being said… there was MILLIONS of other ways to improve this, they’re the devs afterall. CoD Cold war had a better monetization system than Infinite, even if slightly. Super Animal Royal was a billion times better than this, AND IT’S FREE TO PLAY and followed the BP trend.
I’m no veteran of Halo, by a long shot. But one faithful day, of playing Reach local customs with my sis… i’ve been in love with Halo. and Just before MCC announced Reach, having the ability to play Reach’s multiplayer with the players whom remained, that was lots of fun, especially doing the weekly/daily challenges to rank up, earn Cr, and get my dream spartan. it felt truely REWARDING. Playing the other halo games either vya disk or MCC along side Reach… ooh fun fun fun, earning the armors FOR FREE in ODST, 3 AND 4. 5 may have been monetized, but it was and still is fun hopping onto a few games of Fiesta and grinding for a legendary req pack, and rewarding myself for the games with something worthwhile.
Infinite… just isn’t halo, in terms of limited sandbox and the terrible, horrendous monetization. and they used the excuse of ‘it’s free to play’ which no one asked for. and to those people who say ‘i don’t care because i don’t care about customization’ i see your point of view, i respect it, but at the same time… HOLD YOUR GAMES UP TO HIGHER STANDAREDS. Halo has shown to have high standards in terms of progression, customization, and gameplay. don’t allow this nonsense to continue, especially this gaming trend of a BP. we were vocal about loot boxes, now let’s be vocal about BP and locking everything behind a paywall because money and ‘gaming trend’. i don’t care that customization ‘isn’t important and doesn’t effect gameplay’, when PRIOR AND PAST GAMES have done better and have earned equally if not MORE MONEY through the price of the game AND DLC, this is inexcusable. vote with your wallet and DON’T PAY A CENT TO 343
also ‘you can earn cosmetics through playing the game’ it may be true… but i don’t think 1 chest piece, 1 set of shoulders, and THREE OF THE SAME COLORED RED VISOR, is good enough for that… it’s a matter of technicality. also also the amount of customization is sooo bad… like i’d go back to original Reach over this. OH also MCC’s additional customization to Halo 3 was 10x better than this. this is not expansive, it’s purposefully limited, it’s objectively worse than Reach’s. at least in Reach i could pick what primary and secondary color i had, halo 3 even had a tertiary color. and at least in all these games, i could use past and outdated armor like ODST and mk5 WITHOUT having to change my ‘armor core’. in lore UNSC is know for updating past armor pieces to suit and work with current Gen armor! also if you’re going to say ‘oh not everything cane be free, game devs have to make money too, you hypocritical greedy grunt’ well to that i say… LOOK AT GAMES OF OLD, they made so much money just from the standared price of the game and DLC, ya know for maps. look at Halo 2, 3, Reach, and 4. They made sooo much money, in less time, and were GOOD with most things. they made extra money through DLC. i’d rather pay 5-10 bucks for a NEW MAP, something new to mess around in, over a meh armor set and THE COLOR WHITE

Free to play was a mistake.

It’s gotten so bad that I don’t even want to buy the campaign anymore because supporting this game would make me feel scummy.

Actually its much worse outside of your typical mobile gacha game - it is basically one tier above that. Fortnite, Apex Legends, Hearthstone… Essentially any other big F2P title does it better.

This behavior is insulting to consumers and fans alike. But I do not think they will reverse course on any of this.

you’d be surprised, it’s actually worse. does it follow the same exact trends as every other free game? yes, that is correct. BUT, there’s a difference in how player friendly and forcful the monetization is. for example: Super Animal Royal, a decent BR game made by a small team and is f2p. unlike infinite, in SAR you earn the in game currency, and there’s actually worthwhile free items in the BP rather than THE SAME COLORED VISOR THREE TIMES WITH A MINOR CHANGE THAT NO ONE IS GOING TO NOTICE. weekly challenges, skins for weapons that you get for using the weapons. actual ACHIEVEMENTS that just like with halo 3 and Reach, REWARD YOU with decent cosmetics for completing them. If a small indie team can make a game, and continue to support it to this day, whiles also having a player friendly monetization and gaming trends… Infinite has NO EXCUSE

I had a very strong feeling it was going this way before release. 343 was very clearly throwing red flags but everyone honed in on the f2p model. I would much rather have a paid game with all in game comsetics unlockable through gameplay. Now we have Anthem level cosmetics and similarly priced. 343 is just trying to gauge how much is too much before dialing it back and calling it a gift to us. There should 100% be a way to earn the same cosmetics from the paywalled store with in game progression/credits.

But they still pushed the envelope in Warzone, they started selling legendary gun packs like a year after it came out. That pissed me off so much I deleted Halo 5 and never touched it again, and I’m feeling the same with Infinite because it feels like the game was just built purely as a gateway to unholy levels of monetization.

Seeing todays shop where a sword cosmetic costs me 15 euros is just saddening. Got an awful gut feeling now, its just such a let down, quiet frankly it makes we not want to pay for another battle pass seeing their way of conduct.

But i can’t be asked anymore.

with their new Tenrai Fracture event, you can get the free armor, but they legitimately have more stuff for the armor in the store, and to get it all, it’s 50 USD…

You don’t even need to use Marty to see what actually took place. I go by a companies actions, never by their word seeing how most games are going to -Yoink!- because of shops.

Yes but Marty gave some interesting insight in several interviews when explaining how he was forced out of the company, given he was not just a composer and audio guy, he was an executive on the company’s internal board.

If he is to be believed, activision more or less convinced the rest of the leads at bungie to turn destiny into what it is and Marty claims he was resistant to this. This needing unanimous approval to make sweeping changes he was forced out and bungie became what it is today.

So yes we agree developers are usually as trashy as publishers

I know the story, and I still get a giggle once in a while knowing how greedy Bungie actually is that he won in court. Longer story short, a few key devs have left Bungie and one of them was Staten that just so happens to be working on this game if I’m correct?

Yeah but staten while a key figure in the bungie games is a writer first and foremost. I don’t believe he ever had any fundamental input in game design ever. And also only worked on infinite for its final year. I doubt he honestly has much of an impact on infinite. He’s been working for MS for a while doing what, who knows.

Staten also left bungie a long time ago. I don’t think it was long after halo reach even. Maybe right before or right after destiny 1 released.
