Pretty sure 343 are just game designers who want to make the best game possible. And they made a fun game. Microsoft foots the bill and they are the ones who would want them to make this a cash trap. Microsofts demands are what’s causing all of the content delay as well since the cash pyramid is what’s mainly broken here
343i is a Microsoft product, which means that like EA, Bethesda, and Activision; money is their first, second, and third priority while nothing else matters at all.
I really hate the fact that there is currently no way to get cR on your own without surrendering your bank information, or even grinding the MS Rewards for gift card balances (since its cheaper to buy it with real money than grind it for free) just to buy the battle pass. And everyone hates savage paywalls like that, just ask the Dungeon Keeper Mobile community or even COD players about paywalls.
If they want to get us more into multiplayer for the cosmetics they simply need to get rid of the required paywall and make it completely optional and allow players to earn cR via gameplay, both in PvP and PvE or even in the campaign and custom games (even with bots added, no matter how much). I like the idea of earning enough cR to buy the battle pass and spare myself some real world money.
So unless 343 finally starts listening, or even starts caring about us, or stops lying to us, I’ll just sit this one out until the campaign finally comes out, since monetization ruin everything. Or just abuse the bots in Custom Games or PvE’s.
*Cue the violent use of the banhammer for the cardinal sin of pointing out the truth.
There are sadly already way too many halo fans putting money into this. Sadly, I’m one of them. I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t sale really expensive cs:go skins and made a fortune out of it.
It’s really really sad but I believe it’s mostly tactics by Microsoft and not the 343 studio itself. Microsoft has a monopole on many things and they believe to have the need to milk the rest out of the halo fans.
Totally agree. They should take a look at niche shooters, like Insurgency Sandstorm. A game where you can grind most of the cosmetics (not a tiny portion of it). 343 could learn from an INDIE NICHE FPS GAME.
Yes not a very pleasant Thing 343 has done to us. Again.
Man, I’m totally with you, but I’m trying to be really respectful about this, and towards them, because they’ve done so much good for Halo besides what I’m concerned about. They listen probably better than any game developer out there, they’ve implemented our feedback, almost exhaustively, and I really want to try to voice my concerns with humility. I’m thankful that they are at least trying to give a great game that actually looks like they give a damn about what the community thinks. They will listen to us if we voice our concerns about the cosmetics, but I think they are more likely to act on it if we are respectful about it, and I am holding out hope for that
Reach was Bungie’s last Halo, then they went on to do other things. The part that wanted to stay on with Halo was 343. Since Reach was so vastly different from anything in the series, forgive me for getting them confused. That’s where Halo just started feeling like every other shooter. No, Reach wasn’t a bad game, but it just lost that “Halo” feel. I did like the lore, kinda.
The reason why I didn’t like the appearance change of the Sangheili was that they made them more monstrous for no reason. Sure, they look more badass, but they just roided them out with no canonical excuse. Completely broke the immersion for me. Imagine if the in Star Wars VI, they just replaced Vader with a Xeno. “What’s the matter? They’re both dark and bad right?”
There’s a fight to be had, and this boomer is ready to throw down. Join me brother!
I’m not protecting them, I trusted them when they hyped us up for halo infinite, I’m still blaming both but mostly Microsoft and 343i for how their handling the BP and store poorly.
I WANT TO SPEND MONEY. I would love to support halo and buy some super cool skins, butttt I absolutely refuse to be taken advantage of. Once they are more liberal with free content or have some COOL gear (not paying $10 for an slightly off color blue) I will drop coin on some custom gear, but I’m spending it elsewhere till then.
My initial wish when it came to armor coatings was that it was a coloring template where it was up to the player to decide which colors that should be used on the template itself. The template could be similar to the helmet/armor variants in primarily Halo 4 and 5 where the player had multiple coloring variants to choose from. However, these issues could probably be resolved if the system got a fundemental redesign.
Lol and people were mad when I warned about all this wayyyyy back. Damn it feels good to be right.
Honestly most people expected your standard battle pass. This one is extra lacking and impossible to complete for free.
Same here man. I have no issue spending money, but when I don’t get anything of value for my money spent I’m not gonna spend it lol. I will NOT drop $20 on the color white, I’m sorry.
Give me a break. First, it’s likely Microsoft influenced this, as Gears of War has similar items. Second, let’s tone down the hyperbole EVERYWHERE.
This is exactly why Halo Infinite and future titles like Halo 7 needs to be a fully priced game with all the content. I’d rather someday they drop the live service altogether. I feel like after what did with the patronising Halo 5 video they have learnt nothing. The fact that we have a 6 year old game that is bare minimum makes me wonder if 343i is suited to the Halo IP anymore.
This is the same game that was going to cost us double xbox live gold to pay and not F2P in any sense and this is the same content that should have cost the same as the ‘campaign’ together but maybe a little bit more expensive and yet we get a game with so much missing content and content that is basically being bleed dry to try and get as much money out of as little content as possible.
Also I agree about the HCS because right now all the ranked playlists only cater to HCS players and they have literally abandoned the rest of the community to only cater to the HCS crowd.
I’m starting to think 343i don’t handle criticism well and have a habit of ignoring complaints and they do come off as patronising. 343i seems overconfident with their 10 year plan and based their behaviour I’m not confident it’ll last that long unless 343i make major changes to the game and how they approach the Halo fans. And based on Act Man’s recent video it sounds like they didn’t like his criticism either.
Bunch of whiny children have taken over HaloWaypoint.
343 releases FREE Halo, and your response is to complain about OPTIONAL, cosmetic only, costs?
Grow up.
No…?
Your take is bad and you should feel bad.
I find HCS annoying as regards to a few different new players here and there it’s been the same people since it’s birth in 2015 ish. It’s like watching a private members club.
Yeah, how dare people complain about how features that have been standard for the last 17 years have been cut away from the game so that they can be sold to you separately while also charging full premium-title price for the campaign, AKA ‘the full game’!
