They stayed anything that’s paid is premium content. Basic red is not premium contentike a camo red yea that’s premium but default basic red. No.
Those colors could have been locked behind a grind wall but 343 doesn’t seem to have that much content ideas so they just threw the default colors into the paid content cycle.
Hell right now even the store feels old repetitive. Overall the cosmetics feel over located with repeated items. Like the emblems.
Sitting them up as to count as seperate items when it’s just a Jpeg. They bragged about how much content they can put.p out quickly with the Coating system. But so far it’s lackluster.
I hardly even play anymore, Halo infinite is like a good round or two than turn off kinda game and likeaybe 2 or three times a week at most.
My older brother introduce me to halo with Halo CE on the original Xbox when i was 6 he was 12 and iv been hooked ever since and every Christmas we get together and play threw each game on legendary i was disappointed there was no co op so we couldn’t play that together this year hopefully next year and as a girl the character customization feels totally gutted for cash instead of earning anything it all feels kinda empty and worthless while they sell your favorites pieces at different points im a big fan of the mark V from reach cause i finally got a girl body type back then and it felt amazing how well it was done then it felt good to earn credits and get armor i truly felt like i was in that armor back then hell i cant even pick my colors now im 22 now and ill be turning 23 around season 2 and i really hope it gets better by then
This is honestly an important point on its own. 343 don’t know how to make game content full stop. They monetise colours and dumb armour because it’s easy to just cut out the obvious customisation options and monetise it, but the game doesn’t have barely enough content to hold a playerbase anyway and its multiplayer is f2p so how tf are they supposed to make money.
On one hand this could be viewed as a justification for why they charge for these things, cause they can’t sell anything else. It isn’t, because the fact they can’t sell anything else is their own fault since they designed and made the game. They could have been really inventive with it if they knew how to make content with real meaningful value, but they don’t. Hell, they could have at least only monetised the new stuff like weapon charms & skins and AI voices and stuff, but nah lets throw in colours and basic armor too.
They have a content barren game and have shown no ability to be creative about how to produce new engaging content for the playerbase, and haven’t even been able to come close to the launch content of their previous games. Devs who aren’t creative or can’t deliver engaging content is how a game dies, period.
We’re talking about cosmetics, not overall content. Overall, yes, they do have less content than previous games, but cosmetics, they have the same amount, if not more. Not to mention, we will receive 3 or 4 times that amount by the end of this year. Don’t be misleading
You have a point don’t get me wrong, but I stand by what I said and say I’m not being misleading so much as choosing to not just keep the conversation isolated to cosmetics.
But sure lets focus on just that. They could have focused their monetisation strategy on things other than the core colours and armors. It could have been on the AI voices and personalities, expanding their customisation options and the magnitude of their presence in game. They could do something cool with materials, weapon and vehicle attachments, for example expanding the systems they’ve got so that vehicles could have more than one attachment, making them as customisable as spartan armor is. They could try something new like HUD customisation, or equipment skins, or they could enable weapon skins for banished weapons and vehicles.
Point is there’s a lot of things they could have done for monetisation purposes before we reach the point where artificially limiting core customisation via the coating system and very limited armor unlocks became necessary. However they didn’t, or maybe they did because a lot of that is present but they’re still charging for colours anyways. Point is they chose to restrict these things and in doing so have gutted the freedom of customisation in this game.
An yh, when you look at the game as a whole, a lot of other things have been gutted too. there is somewhat of a trend there it seems, which doesn’t bode well for the game going forward. All I say is something big better change in season 2.

Even with next season, we are getting 5 maps (according to leaks at least) and maybe 4-5 modes (again, according to leaks)
The maps would be above average for a Halo game but the modes still wouldn’t even match past Halo’s launches.
Not to mention a lot of other features are missing that add to Halo’s replayability

Stock attachment (for guns that have them)

I don’t know what exactly the vehicles could have but one thing I thought was, “Why isn’t wheels a separate customization option from modules?”

Default cors behind a paywall is not great content. That’s just boring. Who wants to pay for basic red Three times. Oh hey here is generic blue it’s free for the other cores but you get the cool opportunity to buy it for the Yoroi…
They weren’t even creative enough to be like hey why not lock the default colors behind a grind wall and we can come up with much better designs.
Hell the campaign is basically boring once you beat it on legendary and 100% it.
They didn’t even try to put in like weekly events like kill x amount of grunts in campaign unlocks this coating. They bragged about how the new coating system would let them make Designs so much faster and yet. They don’t even want to load the campaign up with challenges that unlock coatings for free. That side of the game was not free unless you had Gamepass so Best believe they should be handing out some free stuff that one must earn through gameplay.
343 just ducttaped together what they could and shipped it out. Their own UI is kicking their butt.ike how do you design an UI that you can’t even operate nicely around yourself.
That is like custom building your own PC and making it a head ache to operate and upgrade.

Also no confirmed word on tactical ops. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s delayed till season 2. I kinda suspect really they just extended season 1 because they needed more time to create actual content for the game.
It’s like a store opening. It not really having any merchandise just telling the customers oh yes we delayed the actual grand openning by a few months cus the shipments were late.
The game really does feel like they were unprepared for so much.
I’m not even excited for season 2 mainly. Because I already feel it’s going to turn Intl 343 saying just wait till season 3 guys. We promise this time we will deliver.

I mean given the state of the game if they already have the date Locke din they should just announce it. No need for holding back information on content.

It didn’t get delayed, the leak was just wrong. This is why you shouldn’t take a leak as an official announcement, you get to thinking that if the leak doesn’t end up being real, you think the thing leaked was delayed
We all know S2 and S3 are coming, should they show what is coming in that?
Announcing something months before it begins reduces the hype, rather, it is better to announce something when it is coming SOON, so the hype is at its peak when it releases
An actual roadmap for the game would be good granted I think 343 is kinda making it up as they go.

God only knows why they charged 60 bucks for just half the game. Campaign honestly wasn’t 60 bucks worth as it is and.woth no actual idea of what it will hold in the future, I’d say maybe a solid 35 bucks for campaign.
Or match it to Gamepass 45 bucks that’s what I pay at least for the three month one. Hell I wonder if they still offer the one year of gamepass subscription.
