But what if we’re rong about 343 being the bad guys here? We be attacking tham for donig nothing rong and Microsoft would get away without being caught and nothing would change.
There needs to be change. 343 knew this was going to happen. They knew. What they were doing. They know that, at the end of the day, there will be a bunch of middle, or upper class kids who just swipe their parents’ credit card and buy everything. They know this will happen. Especially with that recent post, they pretend there isn’t market data on this stuff, like it was all a bunch of small mistakes that “unintentionally” created a greedy monster of a microtransaction system. They are killing this game.
Just wanted to share some love for the gameplay. This is such a good experience, I am anxious for more content however. Thanks everyone responsible!
In a sense, I agree. I’ve never had to pay a dime for armor in the past, and it’s kind of annoying we have to pay so much for armor. 343 has tried there best to make Halo like Bungie did, but what they missed is that Halo players are willing to put in hard work and always have been for cosmetics, and to make them pay was the wrong move.
Colors being free, emblem customization and earning armor through the campaign and achievements or even grinding credits such as on reach has ALWAYS been the way to earn armor in Halo and this alone has always given all the Halo games years of replay value. Having to pay outrages amounts for colors and armor in addition to the lack or customizations, is a slap to the face of the Halo community and the 20 year legacy that Bungie laid the ground work for.
if your issue is that you cant unlock cosmetics without buying them for a free to play game, play a different game. the gameplay is solid, I haven’t had this much fun in halo since halo 3. 343 did a great job with this game. just because you’re poor and cant buy skins doesn’t mean the game sucks. if you’re so adamant about free to play, then play for free.
You should probably look into the plethora of other issues people have with the game outside of F2P.
$10 pineapple grenades - 5 bucks a nade. Pure cosmetic - SICK!!!
Yeahhhhhh that one was a real kick to the pineapples.
Hahaha I think that’s the best one I’ve seen from 343. Really hope to see more $10 bundles like that one.

Compared to the other Halo’s 343 has sullied, Infinite feels really really nice.
That said, microtransactions and battle passes are efn absurd to bring to HALO.
The exp gain, the progression… “GIVE US MORE MONEY FOR SKIP OR BOOST”
343 is a black stain disgrace overall.
343 deserves to be black balled unless the unGreed the BP/Progression/Cosmetics all being Pay wall gated.
343 won’t get a single dime from me for one single boost or cosmetic.
343 won’t get a single dime from me for a battle pass that requires more time than in a work week grinded to level up.
343 won’t get a single dime from me for a battle pass that doesn’t offer points towards next seasons battle pass.
PP: I regret buying campaign and supporting 343 without researching how cash grab bullcrap this game is outside of gameplay.
PPS: 343 won’t get another single dime.
If you want to support corporate greed and trashy business practices, keep white knighting for the industry. If you really want to take it to the next level of moronic, accuse people you don’t know of being poor because they sniffed out the bullcrap you seem to love you’re face buried in.
Being poor has nothing to do with complaining about the state of microtransactions here nor any other game. If you want to be a small minded peon, feel free to stay exactly as you are.
Sincerely,
The guy that won’t ever see anything you post again.
The sad thing is, that these kind of decision are most certainly not done by the “actual” developing team. Monetization etc are all decisions mostly, pretty much exclusively done by management of which most don’t care about games at all but about money only. Thus their goals differ from the developers who are presumably doing their job out of a passion for games. But they are the ones who decide. Plus developers of course won’t talk bad about those decisions openly because, and that is a sad thing in this industry these days, they might get fired immediately. And it is not like you’re earning a ton as a developer, let alone artist, even in AAA studios like 343.
Having that said, yes, the game in it’s current state is unfortunately a mess in terms of monetization and quite easily called a scam. I’m not a fan of F2P at all, because all F2P games tend to have issues related to monetization, but this system is set to lure people into spending tons of money on every occasion. The progression system is so slow, even buying the Battle Pass requires you to play hundreds of hours to acquire simple color schemes! So there you go: buy some credtis, speed up leveling!
I’m mostly concerned about the excuses though. Hiding a simple color change behind “it makes your spartan more individual so you have to unlock these pre-defined color sets” is not only an excuse, it is a lie. Knowing current texturing systems myself (game artist) - something like a color change is in no way that hard as described and was quite frankly, already done in every other Halo-game. And I really can’t and won’t belief that the team at 343 wouldn’t be capable of creating something, they already did.
Even the campaign feels catered to future content, rewarding your search in the ever same looking spaces with coatings. You can count the days till the first story-dlc will be announced with snow/desert/swamp biomes.
This game needs a drastic change - I’d even prefer stepping back from the F2P-model completely and make it paid seperately (if you want only the MP) or included in the campaign. You could still create BattlePasses on the long run as extensions.
For all users there is just ONE way to push for such change and it is super simple: play the game BUT don’t spend ANY money on it
it’s unfair I paid 60 bucks for a single campaign with no rewards, only “colours”. There are better skins and customization in MCC.
Agreed. I played the campaign for hours, and kept seeing ‘Save Failed’ and just thought it was a visual bug. But no. Now ALL of my progress is GONE. ALL OF IT. And I’m prob not even gonna get any compensation for the hours of my life for nothing all cause 343i can’t test their crap game correctly. At least make sure the game can save before “OfFiCiaLlY” releasing it. Pathetic, really.
This is what I remember.
Not the games we see today. EA, Bethesda etc I think we have all seen it. It is a shame.
So true I’m a day one halo one player it feels like destiny without the cool stuff. The worst part of this game it feels like a game on your phone with some mandatory transactions I’m regretting buying this game. Bring back Halo with the assisnations and dedicated Slayer.
The plan was to have a Halo for the next ten years. Maybe the major bugs will be fixed in a few months?
Mainly server issues for me since they affect the otherwise good gameplay. Weird player collision, disappearing grenades, bring the carbine back?, lower the store prices and more people would spend money not only whales.
We will see if there really will be a separate progression system, and if so, how it will rewards you. There is a perfect progression system in MCC but yeah…
But I don’t have much hope for ingame currency and earnable customization options.
Right now, I won’t spend anything on this game.
I doubt it, 343 have been awful from the get go. That said, Bungie are no better these days. It’s sadly just the way the industry is going.
I think the game is like a unfinished car, it only has the seats, a wooden plank for a base, and just 4 wheels, and reeeel that way in for the next couple for years for a better product.
…It happened to battlefront 2, but I dont know about this one, it’ll later turn out to just stay as a wooden-car for now.
