Let’s just say this game was a bold endeavor for a new gaming studio. They had to take on one of the largest franchises and push out the game rather quickly. That said I can’t really seem to find another developer that has invested this much time into their game this far into the product life cycle.
We all know Halo 4’s population has dwindled but 343i keeps trying to improve their game by listening to what the community asks for. Legendary slayer is the icing on the cake. This is easily the 2nd most difficult change to implement (first would be the weapon changes) because it adds an entire new balancing aspect to the game, weapon placement on the maps. Hopefully 343i keeps an eye on this playlist because I’m sure, like Bungie with Halo 3, community members will find better places to put weapons to balance the maps.
They have AR starts for now, similar to how Halo 3 started, depending on how the community reacts to this on July 15 I’m sure they already have a team BR variant in place just in case the playlist ends up becoming a rush for the BR and if you don’t have one you’re screwed. Thats what happened in Halo 3 and its why the Team BRs became a focal point in Social Slayer. No secondary is interesting because Halo 3 had the pistol, but then again the Magnum is this game is much more powerful.
I will say hopefully a ton of people play this new gametype and if enough people download this next DLC maybe the pit can be added to the rotation. That one should be one of the standard maps for this playlist.
All I know is it seems 343 is learning from past mistakes and the changes they have made have given me faith for Halo 5. Im sure a ranking system, descoping, and legendary slayer will be focal points for the next generation. With dedicated servers too this next Halo could bring the franchise back again. Well done.
Do you guys now have a little faith restored for the next game after all these changes so far down the life cycle of this title?
I am in agreement. I’m sure people will disagree with you that they did not take what the community most wanted and fix it, but they are improving.
The introduction to a new gametype, maps, the weapons update, the Legendary Slayer playlist coming soon, and the adding of classic armors is great.
But is it what we really needed?
Legendary Slayer, possibly, but people’s main complaints about the game were more based on their connection to the games themselves. People in Europe mostly, but that is still a huge section of the halo fanbase.
Whether or not I have faith is a void question. I get the game for the story first, and Halo 4 delivered on that part. Was there issues with that, possibly too many buttons.

I am in agreement. I am all about the campaign. I want to see what happens to the Chief.
I still can’t help but feel hurt over Halo 4. So much changed and lack of communication and long waits to fixes.
There are still a multitude of problems with the game but I feel like Legendary slayer will alleviate MOST of them. If I end up having half as much fun with legendary slayer as I have had with past Halo games I will be excited for Halo 5.
I can guarantee that I WON’T be getting Halo 5 at launch though. Halo 4 has made me second guess everything 343 does. It seems their heart is basically in the right place but I still don’t trust them with my beloved Halo, not after what they’ve put me through.
As long as 343i continue to listen to us and listen to us even more, the multiplayer may be great, it will be a day one buy for me as I love Halo’s story and have never cared about the multiplayer and so far with Halo 4, 343 has not dissapointed me

How would Legendary Slayer be difficult? Anyone can go in Custom Games and make these settings themselves. I have made Team Slayer/Team BRs/Team LRs variants in my File Share with Power Up only PODs. AND went into forge and placed weapons based on my general knowledge of Halo.
Balancing Halo’s(CE-H3) core should have been the focus from the beginning. Adding Infinity Slayer and its random dice roll mechanics seems like an unnecessary chore compared to basic arena shooter gameplay. Plus it has turned off so many players its sad.
My question is why not balance Infinity settings? Disable plasmas, PP, less random ordnance. I dont understand 343 at all.
Legendary Slayer is too little, too late, and not what people asked for. AR starts are fine especially since H4’s is actually a good weapon. Problem is there needs to be variety. Traditionally Halo playlists have multiple options in a single playlist. There should be other variants like Team BRs, TeamCarbine, etc.
All this time they teased Legendary Slayer and we get 4v4 AR starts. So now we have to wait AGAIN for them to read our feedback just for them to consider building off the best thing to happen to Halo 4(weapon tuning was great, but a “classic” playlist from the beginning would have saved this game). Dont forget if it has a low population it will get axed for another temporary playlist. That seems to be their philosophy.
No. My faith has not been restored in 343. That being said I will support Halo 4 because I truly LOVE this series.

Long time fixes? All that 343 has done has been in less then a year. That’s a LONG time?
Just think about what 343 has done within the time that it has released until now. Weapon updates. Early release of a free forge map with trees, large rocks, green screen,(something bungie never did.) they communicate frequently and read the forums very often. Super awesome bundle coming out soon with requested armor and more. New playlists, playlist fixes, and requested ones.
I could probably go on but I’m hungry and I gotta go.
Honestly what more do you want out of 343 for them to have your little “approval”?
Some people can be just never be happy i guess.
343i took up a massive undertaking and shown they can deliver and improve while admitting their mistakes. I’m excited for Halo 5 and it will be a day one limited edition preorder for me, hands down.

In a way, I compare 343 to Atlas, taking Halo on their shoulders is a massive undertaking, if they slip up, it will crash down on them, however if they try push back, they can push it back up

Oh really?
100 posts for each since halo 4 came out. Halo 4 has 4000+ pages full of threads. That’s a lot. AND they don’t read the feedback in the “war games feedback” section.

It’s impossible to respond to every single post and thread, even if that was their goal why would they waste time with poorly thought out threads that provide little to no constructive feed back?
They have to take a look at the threads and follow trends across players. To say they don’t read the forums is objectively wrong. 343i listens and they listen very well. Don’t assume they don’t because they don’t respond to every single thread.
They do in fact read the wargames feed back, they read the match making posts. They are hard at work, only because YOUR issues haven’t been resolved doesn’t mean they aren’t working hard for the community.
Oh and before you try and ignorantly blow off the facts let’s take a look at their track record:
X, then Red X
Adjustments to Team snipers
Bolt Shot Nerf
Overall weapon balance update
ODST and Mark V armor
A classic playlist
A competitive playlist
Base movement increase
Team Multi
Team Doubles
Action Sack
Griftball
CSR
Smaller Maps
Please explain to me how they aren’t listening and responding accordingly.

All the playlist should have been included at launch, same as CSR. All the weapons should have been balanced at launch . They had 3.5 years to balance the weapons, test CSR and other playlists and make more smaller maps.
ODST and Mark V should have not been removed ( instead they gave us crappy armor), same as the red X.
Legendary slayer is a classic plalist that ANYONE could create in custom games, but we had to wait 8 MONTHS. 6 months to implement CSR JUST ON WAYPOINT.
After 8 months, we still don’t have classic gametypes such as assault, 1-flag CTF, territories, juggernaut etc.
Many issues have been fixed, but it’s not enough for me.
That said, i will give halo 5 a chance, but i won’t preorder it.

By all means, please establish a studio, hire over 300 employees through multiple interviews, work on the Halo Waypoint website, the Xbox waypoint app, the ios app, windows app, android app, while taking over Halo Reach, making Halo Anniversary and creating Halo 4, ALL THE WHILE dealing with the rabid Fanbase that each have a different view on what “true” Halo is supposed to be and pleasing the stockholders.
For a brand new company that is only 6 years old, they’ve taken the mantle of Halo and done a great job so far for their first attempt at their own game and can only go up from here.
