343i for 2014

What I think 2014 should look like with 343i:

-Summer: have a Halo 5 beta
-September: Release Halo 5
-November: Release Halo 2 Anniversary

I really hope that they call it Halo 5. Just because it’s a saga doesn’t mean that it needs to lose the number, look at Star Wars. Thoughts on this

I’d think that hosting a beta and then releasing the game a month later kind of defeats the purpose of a beta.

The objective is to test the game, and fix it. If you release the final game a month after the beta, you’d probably not have any time to fix very many things.

If there’s to be a beta (which I’m not expecting, honestly), there should be a five month gap between the beta and the final launch of the game. 343i needs the time to edit and revise their final product, and they especially need the time to analyze the community’s input on specific features.

Finally, I really don’t want a Halo 2: Anniversary. While I may sound heartless for this, but I’d rather have 343i spend their resources on telling us new stories rather than reskinning old ones.

I couldn’t care less about Halo 5 simply because I have absolutely no hope for it whatsoever, but I’d love to have a properly done Halo 2 Anniversary to restore the game’s rightful relevant place in the series and put it to rest.

I think the Beta for Halo 5 should be in early May 2014. I wouldn’t mind Halo 5 being delayed another six months because I do not want to hear any excuses like “Oh, the ranking system?? Due to time constraints we couldn’t finish the game so here take this and we might finish it in six months.”

I want a finished, polished, tested, and amazing game. I do not want Halo 5 end up being an unfinished mess.

I do agree that Halo 2 Anniversary should be released next year November.

I think news of an open beta release of halo 5 would lead to a sudden spike in xbox one sales, especially around 2nd quarter 2014 when games like Titanfall are released. That way there was some other shooter people could play when the beta ends.

I think there will be many people that will likely buy the Xbox One simply to play it, but I know quite a few people that never returned to Halo after the Reach beta, because they simply assumed that what they saw was a final product, and simply never gave the game a chance again. I hope that if a beta happens for Halo 5, it runs for a while longer and is not to precede the final build a month later (3 or 4 moths minimum). Some special armour and avatar perks would be nice too for those that participated in the beta.

Why does everyone want a H2A?

I don’t think that’s a very good idea OP.

However, what I would like is a Halo 2 Anniversary on Xbox One, then in 2015 the release of Halo 5. I want a FULL Halo 2 Anniversary as well, with a multiplayer mode and all the maps included. Basically, 100% of the game, remastered in 1080p on Xbox One.

Halo 5 would release just in time, giving 343 more time to polish the game to Bungie standards, and Halo 2 Anniversary with multiplayer would significantly boost Xbox One sales alone, without what most consider to be a “questionable” Halo title only boosting sales slightly due to the known… disaster… Halo 4 was.

> Why does everyone want a H2A?

I can’t say for most, but for me theres something really cool about replaying games that I remember looked great, but I know way too well that if I were to fire up my Xbox and Halo 2, ad as much as I might enjoy it, it will look terrible. Now I might get that very same game, with updated graphics… and achievements and Waypoint perks don’t hurt either. To me that’s pretty cool.

Needles to say many new players won’t touch the game if it doesn’t at least look pretty.

I don’t understand the drive for halo 2 to be remade. The story was terribly implamented and the MP was buggy and terrible.

Halo 2 Anniversary won’t have its original multiplayer…

Really?! I thought it was the best of all campaigns and multiplayer. I had so much fun in that game even with the cliffhanger.

It’s all opinion.

FACT: The story had some issues here and there due to development time.
OPINION: Some people LOVED Halo 2’s campaign, others hated it. Are they both wrong? Are they both right? No, and Yes.

FACT: Multiplayer had issues coding wise, and balance wise.
OPINION: Not everyone can agree that Halo 2’s MP was the greatest, some still believe to this day that Halo 2’s MP is the worst.

As for the drive to have Halo 2 remade, I believe that most people are expecting Halo 2 to be remade MP and all, because they want to go back to playing Halo 2 online, because #1 Halo 2 Xbox servers are down, and #2 they don’t know about the PC version, and/or don’t own a PC powerful enough to run Halo 2.

Do I want Halo 2 to be remade, I wouldn’t mind it, but I’m not expecting it to happen. Do I expect Halo 2’s MP to be remade? -Yoink- NO, I look at Halo CEA, and use that as a starting point to determine rather or not there will be a MP mode in a Halo 2 remake, and I’m expecting them to only remake Halo 2’s campaign and CoOp be over Xbox LIVE, other than that I see them cutting the MP out completely.

I much rather see Halo 3 or Halo 4 ported to the PC than have a Halo 2 Remake. I’m tired of Halo PC being left behind, and not given full support.

When Halo 2 came out I was only 8. Too young to participate in the multiplayer. I’m sure there are thousands of halo fans who would love to play the campaign but can’t get their hands on a copy. I had to buy 3 different copies before I found one that worked.

I loved the campaign and I would love to see it in HD. I understand why some people hate H2’s campaign, especially the ending, having to wait 3 years to “finish the fight” was bad but now being able to pop halo 3 in right after finishing H2 solves that dilemma.

For me, halo isn’t just about the multiplayer, Campaign is number one. If Halo CEA wasn’t made I would never be able to play Halo’s first campaign, only read about it. And how much fun is that? The story is a big part of what makes halo so great and every halo loving fan should have the opportunity to take part in it and appreciate it fully.

Going back to not being able to play the multiplayer, I LOVE the maps from halo 2. The design the scenery, they encourage map control and strategy and team work. I don’t like halo 4 and the only thing keeping me on reach is the anniversary playlist. I don’t even mind playing prisoner four times in a row.

Now, it’s obvious that Halo’s MP population has be sub satisfactory lately and I think if 343 was to release a H2 anniversary where the only thing changed about it is the graphics that would improve the trust the community has for 343. and having a classic gametype outlet that is more competitive would give the classic halo fans an outlet to play while Halo 5 can be more casual like halo 4.

TL;DR:

  1. not everybody got a chance to play the multiplayer
  2. Everybody should be able to enjoy the campaign.
  3. having a classic multiplayer outlet would solve the competitive or causal argument. at least for now.
