Or, rather, the match ups. The rank system itself I don’t have an issue with, but this is getting ridiculous. 3 days straight, and every time I’ve gone into Arena I’ve had terribly unbalanced games. Why? Not because I’m getting matched against people who aren’t at my skill level, but because the other players on my team aren’t. It’s become a recurring issue where I’ll end up with unranked players who haven’t yet qualified on my team - this, though, isn’t the problem as much as the fact that they don’t seem to register as such in matchmaking. While every other qualified player will get an even match up, I’ve routinely seen these unranked players getting paired with Onyx and Diamond players on the other team, and more often than not this ends up in my team getting stomped because these randoms are only at the Gold or Silver level while everyone else in the game is Platinum, Diamond or Onyx.
343i says they’ve fixed Arena CSR in the last update, but they focused on the wrong issue. It wasn’t that CSR was focused on individual performance - that worked in Reach plenty well, and I don’t see a reason to fix what isn’t broken. Hell, I would be fine with it as it is now… IF teams were evenly balanced to account for it. Because Arena is competitively focused, this breaks the entire match up balance, and I don’t want to be forced to play only Big Team Battle if I want a casual game for funsies. I don’t enjoy big games as much as I do small ones.
Kind of with you there man. Sometimes i wanna just screw around and have fun in team slayer,but i can’t since its ranked, so actually finding im playing less now. If i wanna play something casual i play usuly just a campaign game.
Same here, keep getting games where my team is complete newbies, and the other team is filled with mlg players. I cant get good games without being completely anialated by the other team, i dont want to play halo because of this problem. I got the game a week ago and had great fun, but january started and its a nightmare now.
It’s not even the wannabe MLG players that annoy me. I can keep up with them just fine, but the problem is I keep getting players who haven’t qualified for certain playlists yet. I’m not sure how they show up in the matchmaking system as, but it’s clear that something is broken there.
The way most match ups work is that the game tries to match players of equal rank, and for the most part it does this brilliantly. Platinum players get matched by other Platinum player on the opposite team, Gold gets matched to another Gold, etc., but for some reason the game keeps matching these unqualified players to Diamond and Onyx opponents that are way above their skill level - and, usually, the rest of my team as well. I ranked Diamond in most of my Season 1 playlists, but a single person does not make a team - it can break one pretty easily, though, as said teams are only as strong as their weakest players. What keeps happening is these unqualified players, I’m guessing about Gold tier, keep feeding the other Platinums in the games that get matched up with my team mates while I do my best to keep the Diamond/Onyx player off the rest of my team, and that’s near impossible in gametypes like SWAT and Breakout.
