343I finally realizing a few things? Looks like it

So with all the announcements 343I has made with the next update (Monitor’s Bounty) I must say, it’s nice to see 343I FINALLY realizing a few things. The lack of permanent playlists, Making ranked/social playlists clearly different, WZFF changes and so on. Those are some of the bigger changes I feel. You can read all this and more in the news section by the way. It’s easy to bash 343I or hate on them for things they have done wrong, and they have done a lot of things wrong in my opinion, lets not kid ourselves here but a person should also give someone credit when credit is due and I feel like 343I deserves some credit here, so good job 343I.

In a WAY though, Halo 5 is almost like a new game with changes like what’s coming. Honesty, think about it. Think about how much Halo 5 has changed in the last year and a bit from what the game was day 1. The problem I have with 343I updates is that they change the game so much ( in a good way most of the time) that game that people bought day 1 (like me) is in a lot of ways completely different then what the game will be like tomorrow after the latest update. Sure it’s cool, but making/adding such big editions to the game like this doesn’t help MS/343I keep more players around. Which is ultimately what you want.

Yes it helps the current ones, which is good don’t get me wrong, but just image how Halo 5 would of been reviewed/received if it came out tomorrow… My god, the CONTENT!! Again, not bashing 343I here or trying to be a downer as I’m excited (I’ll admit it) for tomorrow update as much as the next person, but it really does makes me wonder how much more popular this game and Halo would be in general. I hope for halo 6 a lot, if not all this kind of stuff is in day 1 due to the fact it has already been made and that the updates (which I hope are free still) are more like, developer made maps, cosmetic things (weapon skins, new armour, new types of assassinations etc) developer made maps, fixing bugs and glitches, trying new game modes, and more developer made maps! (Maps are a big thing I feel lol :stuck_out_tongue: )

Now, we all know a lot of things 343I are doing now should of been in day 1… It’s been said countless times (by myself included) but it is nice to see that they seem to be listening and are changing things. I know certain things won’t change and/or can’t happen in Halo 5, but I do have some more hope for Halo 6 then I did. 343I making Team Snipers permanent (which honesty, I’m not really a fan Team Snipers, but I know it’s popular and it should be permanent just like Team Doubles is) and using the Halo 3 style of Ranked/Social playlist set up shows me that maybe, just maybe they are realizing that it’s ok to use features and things from past Halo games that worked so well. I hope 343I continues to recognize features and things that worked so well in past Halo games and use them in future Halo titles. Also, continuing to listen to us, the community, isn’t a bad idea either 343I FYI lol

You said it yourself 343I “The seeds of the future are sowed in the past” Don’t forget this

i feel like 343 ruined halo in general but they do a good job at listening to the community and adding in more content, good job 343.

while i appreciate these updates a lot, i understood one thing from it, halo 5 should have been released this year and not last, at least we would’ve had a complete game at launch. however, i kinda did like it a bit, the fact that i watched this game getting built to completion before my own eyes (still not complete tho, id say its at 92% now)

Most of the changes they’ve made would have been suggested by most halo focus groups.
Clapping someone on the back for doing something they should have done, and been asked to do by their fan base, for an entire year is kind of unnecessary.

Bayonet assassinations plz

92%?

The game has The most Weapons and Vehicles, The second highest Game mode count, The largest forge mode by a long way and more then twice as many maps as Halo Reach Launched with. What is your version of 100%.

Well better late than never. If we only just complain(though for good reasons) 343 may stop listening to us. Halo 4 had so much negative feedback there is absolutely nothing in halo 5 which has anything to do with halo 4. Some positivity is okay but we shouldn’t forgive 343 fully yet. I trust they and especially MS have learned their lesson and the same thing will not happen in Halo 6.

The biggest problem right now for me is that the updates all together tahke HUGE amount of space and if I someday delete them to make more room for other stuff it is hard to see myself ever returning to play the game.

I agree, OP. I would have been happy to wait another year for Halo 5 if it had launched like this, and I think it would have retained a much larger population if it did. This is why we should be willing to wait as long as necessary for Halo 6.

I wouldn’t be opposed to them having an early release of the next game where they acknowledge a lack of full content. Then they could have a “full release” date where all content is released and people who don’t want to play until it’s finished can wait to buy until then.

That isn’t a bad idea for them to do if they are going to go this route again, but as I said in my opening post, that wouldn’t help MS/343I help keep players around off the bat which IMO is what they should be trying to do.

Yeah you’re probably right. Some people like me are just crazy enough to enjoy the barebones version of the game.

I might not sound like a ‘bad idea’ but a lot of players get discouraged by a very barebones game. First impressions are important. Look at Titanfall 1. Didn’t ship with enough gamemodes or maps and despite having incredible multiplayer mechanics quickly burned out a lot of people. Most of my friends an acquintances, many of whom were happy to move past Halo 4, were disappointed in Halo 5’s lack of content at the beginning and refuse to pick up the game to this day, mocking me for sticking with it. (they also hate the campaign and spartan abilities, but thats another discussion.)

yeah it was such an interesting experience seeing h5 grow from nothing to such an epic game, 343 should remarket h5 now to bring people back people would really enjoy it now.

You only have one chance with most people. When you disappoint them with an unfinished lack luster game… you’ve lost them.

I agree with these. Most people you do only get one shot to impress them and get them hooked on your game. Heck, most things in life you only get one shot period. Titanfall did have pretty good gameplay from what I’ve played, but I haven’t really played it enough honestly to really have a good feel for the game. Titanfall did add stuff in later which helped the game, but not too where it should of been. Doom that came out this year was received very well by most people. The campaign especially was really raved about. All my friends absolutely loved it!!! The MP on the other hand had the same problem as Titanfall and Halo 5 IMO. There wasn’t enough modes of play when Doom first came out and that hurt the game long term I feel. Again, like Halo 5 it makes me wonder how much more popular these games would be if they launched with the content that they have now.

I just don’t think this strategy of releasing a game with minimal content and then releasing the rest later is a good idea so to speak nor does it work that well IMO. Not saying everything 343I has released for 5 was content that was cut, it wasn’t… but I do feel a good amount was, and I’m not bashing 343I here either, I’m just saying. As others have stated, it has been neat seeing Halo 5 change and such, I agree but if you asked most people, I think they would choose to have the game delayed x amount of time with more content at launch then releasing more content as they go and I would be one of those people as well. This was an interesting decision by 343I/MS to do, and it didn’t 100% backfire either, but it didn’t really convince people to stick around either. If 343I/MS want to go this route for Halo, then maybe Halo should just become a free to play game or something, I don’t know… We know the REQs have made 343I/MS a pile of money, so they could do it. At the very least, if they are going to do this strategy again for Halo 6, they need to be up front about this at E3 when they release the trailer and with the fan most importantly.
