343i changes that ruined halo 4

343 industries had so many years to work on this game that there should be no excuses for this. Anyway im just gonna just list stuff out. Let me know yall’s opinions on this.

1)unlocking weapons, armour abilities, etc. through ranking up.Halo was great because it didn’t matter if you had just started playing or had been playing for years, everyone started out the same on the map and it was based on skill, not whoever had more free time to play the game nonstop
2)maps are way too small!!!
3)Ordinance drops…copying COD much?
4)scoring not based on number of kills anymore. A team should not increase their score because of assists or anything like that.
5)insta-respawn. This turns halo into a just run and shoot game. no strategy
6)menus look horrible.
7)lack of customization for emblems. very few to choose from
8)grenade indicator. gets rid of the point of throwing a grenade at an opponent when they’re not looking
9)Campaign not so great. Not much is explained about the didact or why humanity is at war with the covenant. Also it seems like 343i is trying too hard to make a movie during the cutscenes…ex: when the officer is SCREAMING “arrest him” at masterchief…seriously??? just seemed lame
10)Never again do a “push this series of buttons” type of ending again
11)gameplay mechanics just didn’t seem halo like. I know this had been repeated more times than can be counted but, it feels like i’m playing call of duty with the instarespawn, sprinting, shortened health

In my view, 343i has taken halo and completely downgraded it

  1. old argument is old. Its not like cod or battlefield where a higher level has a huge advantage over you. The weapons sandbox is balanced where each weapon has its role its strengths and weaknesses. No weapon is the best. Same falls for all the other unlocks. Added to the fact that there are default load outs accessible to lower levels so they arn’t screwed.

  2. Funny, because everyone else seems to think the maps are way too big.

  3. not going to argue this point with you. Your clearly one of those people that thinks having something similar to COD is bad. Grow up.

  4. Uh…The team that has the most amount of kills still wins. I have no idea what your trying to prove.

5)insta spawn exists in non objective gametypes. And this would be a problem is the spawns were garbage. But they arn’t. You still have to wait a minimum of 5 seconds to spawn back in objective games.

  1. thats a personnel thing and cannot be used as a point.

  2. there is plenty of emblems and backrounds. You have to unlock them. IM SR62 and i still don’t have all of them.

  3. i have almost the plasma nades mastery and im in expert for frags. The grenade indicator helps. But if you still know when and where to place your nades they still help.

  4. Campaign was amazing. Your a fool. Look back at halo CE Not much was explained to us. halo 4 is a new trilogy with a new story. More will be explained in the next games just like the past trilogy. Also the terminals in halo 4 fill some gaps. Find them.

  5. Why? it was dramatic and simple. What you wanted a boss fight? I’m sorry but those don’t fit in a halo game. They fit better in nintendo based games.

  6. COD was not the first to invent many of its features. Infact games rip off eachother all the time. Originality is pretty much dead. But most of the “cod mechanics” that are in halo 4 don’t play out at all like cods do. And they work pretty damn well for the game. I am a long time halo fan and so are many of my friends. While we see how halo has changed it still feels like the game we grew up with.

Halo 4 does have issues. You have named none of them.

its all a matter of opinion. And i disagree with yours.

> 1)unlocking weapons, armour abilities, etc. through ranking up.Halo was great because it didn’t matter if you had just started playing or had been playing for years, everyone started out the same on the map and it was based on skill, not whoever had more free time to play the game nonstop

The theory behind unlocks is that they’re supposed to be subtle changes… Everyone’s supposed to still be on equal footing, but they get to pick what color shoe they wear. Many people think that that’s not what loadouts have ended up being, but that was the intended concept and IMO it is a sound one.

> 2)maps are way too small!!!

The maps are actually larger, on average, than those of previous games. However, your movement speed is faster than in Reach, and instant respawn cuts down on a lot of waiting during matches, so perhaps that’s why they seem small to you.

Unless you mean the Forge canvases? Those are pretty small, given the tight soft kill boundaries.

> 5)insta-respawn. This turns halo into a just run and shoot game. no strategy

Instant respawn doesn’t have any effect on strategy. It does remove the time penalty for failing to use strategy, but what you do while you’re alive still matters.

> 6)menus look horrible.

I think that they look nice, but aren’t very functional. Tiny text, sideways text, thin lettering that blends into stuff, blue-on-the-same-shade-of-blue text…

> 7)lack of customization for emblems. very few to choose from

You’ll get a lot more as you rank up.

> 8)grenade indicator. gets rid of the point of throwing a grenade at an opponent when they’re not looking

Not much, but there are plenty of other use cases. Plasmas are good for close-quarters sticking, pulses are great for area denial, and frags are good when enemies are clustered together, or when there’s not much room to run or strafe.

Yeah, the campaign probably won’t appeal to people unfamiliar with the books. Probably its biggest flaw.

> In my view, 343i has taken halo and completely downgraded it

And you’ve every right to your point of view. Halo means different things to different people, after all.

> its all a matter of opinion. And i disagree with yours.

No. Most of these claims are like pointing to a chicken and calling it a duck because, in your opinion, it should be called a duck.

This is perfect.

instaspawn and kill cams should NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT be in this game. other than that, i dont agree with you =P

I stopped at 4 because I like that change.

It promotes teamwork, and cleaning up/team shooting. This is a fundamental concept in high wage/high level match ups.
