And dont take into consideration the unlikelyhood of a particular map to be updated…this is purely for fun only!!
Id choose…
Valhalla (Halo 3) - Easily my favorite Halo map of all time. The map is large enough for BTB yet small enough for 4v4. All weapons are equally accessable from both sides of the battlefield. The map has excellant sources of cover/great sniper spots. and you dont have to be afraid to fight in middle of the battlefield without a vehicle like you do with Coagulation (way too open and large for my taste).
Last Resort (Halo 2/Halo 3) - Second only to Valhalla. Another spectacular map that is perfectly sized for most playlists. I love the atmosphere of the map and having a beach and building on opposite sides creates the ultimate invasion style feel! For example, one bomb or one flag was perfect for this map imo.
Foundry (Halo 3) - Imo the best fully forgeable map. There is just something about being in a small warehouse style building while playing those crazy custom games like Griffball, Fat Boy, or Ducks (forgot the exact name of it, but im sure you know what im talking about) the atmosphere feels right for the insane and catastrophic. Forge World feels too big and worldly, while Sandbox is too gloomy and lifeless.
It really depends on Halo 4’s gameplay. I love Lockout to death, but Lockout with gameplay such as Reach’s doesn’t play well… but since this is just for fun:
Lockout.
Guardian.
Terminal.
I’d really like to see all new maps in Halo 4 though.

Blood Gulch (I know they are different versions, but they play VERY differently)
High Ground
The Pit
Last Resort
Sandtrap
I know that was six, but I love them so much. Blood Gulch could be very good for minor or major forging. You could add buildings, make a racetrack, etc.
I love High Ground because it was a very good objective map, Slayer map, and Team Slayer map. It was one of the few maps that had actual cover and not having to go into another hallway or corridor for cover. Anyone ever play Water World?
The Pit? A great mix of CQC, Medium range, and power weapons. A map where the SMG, Magnums, and Plasma Rifles could be used to their full potential. This map was also great for all Slayer variants as well as infection.
Sandtrap? Elephants, vehicular combat, medium range as well as some CQC. 'Nuff said.
Last Resort was great as well. It feels like something’s missing though. Not sure what.
