Congratulations, you achieved 1/5 of the $500 million back for 343 and now they can go bankrupt with a smile
Fun fact, the AR is not the world’s most accurate weapon. Your nose is running, might wanna catch it kid. If you play ranked for self validation, you might want to just get friends then to play with, because I play Halo for fun, not for nervous sweating in ranked.
Are you older than me? Good for you. If you’re in your 40s, congrats. You are a full adult and bad at basic math and economics, and can’t afford cosmetics in a video game
Alright you two let’s not have this topic devolve into childish insults.
This topic is about the PROBLEM which is that buying this game is more than $1k per six month period.
It’s not $1000 in a 6 month period unless you have a FOMO problem. It only costs what you pay for, and if you only buy the battle pass, and a couple cosmetics, it’s under $100. It’s your own responsibility to handle your own spending. I don’t go to GameStop and buy every single game there. Only buy what you actually want and will use. It’s really not a hard concept. Why is everyone so greedy these days wanting everything they don’t even need?
Saying you wouldn’t buy a movie for $100 is just ridiculous.
You don’t continuously watch that same movie for the same amount of time you play a video game. You don’t watch the same basketball game over and over either.
Yes, $100 can be a lot of money for people.
It’s all about perspective.
If your playing Infinite, you clearly own a system to play it on, a screen to watch it on. You have an electricity bill, an internet bill, and presumably some kind of rent/mortgage to pay for the roof over your head while you play?
How much does all that cost?
And so what if someone wants to play dress up. What’s that to anyone else?
Swapping out “grocery store” for “gamestop” doesn’t change the fact that it is not a valid comparison. I said it costs $1k to buy the game. That means all content, as that is what “buying a game” means. This game is free to play, $1k per six months to buy. It’s revolting, as is your defense of the system.
Glad to see people with an actual understanding of the situation hopping in when I was about ready to leave the chat. Buying cosmetics has reusability value, because unlike movies and junk food, you get to keep your cosmetics you bought. If someone really wanted that helmet and skin, they get to keep using it for 10+ years now. If they think it was worth their money, and they’ll keep using it, it was money spent well. People waste money on stuff all the time. We live in a digital age now with digital markets. People have clothes and furniture irl and want cool decorative clothes and items in games now too. Idk what people are mad about. People don’t buy all the clothes at the store, so don’t buy all the clothes in the game.
I really don’t understand either where the pricing model is coming from. I know that F2P is skipping out of an additional 40 bucks on the initial sale, but at this rate that amount of money isn’t even enough to monthly keep up with content (if you would want that).
Painful to see a lot of cool stuff in the shop but knowing that if you buy it you got scammed.
Yeah there’s like four components to screwing you out of money.
- You can’t buy anything you like on its own, only in bundles, and all the pieces you want are split among several bundles
- You can’t see the future of the shop, to know if what’s in it now is what you actually want
- You only have a limited time to buy the things in the shop, so if you see something you like you have to buy it now or forever hold your piece. Or until it comes back around again. If it does.
- You have to buy in game credits, but you often can’t buy the exact amount you need, you have to buy more.
Not to mention the fact they sell a single JPeg or pattern 4-8 times over as “separate items” in the bundle, and they aren’t reusable across armor cores.
AND they price gouge you. 343i is off their -Yoink!- rocker.
Oh, but apparently you can cheat/hack and get everything for free. So I suppose all is well
These would actually be nice to know ahead of time, so I don’t have to log in every day to check the shop when 99% of the time it won’t be something I want. Then the 1 time it is something cool for the daily, you forgot to check.
Edit: Oh hey, they actually added a store viewer in the Waypoint app update. That sort of fixes that part I guess.
Agreed. Loot boxes/REQ Packs are predatory. A store with cosmetics priced at the going market rates that other games sell their cosmetics for, combined with a bad progression system at the start that’s in the midst of getting fixed up, that’s something that just leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths. People need to stop calling bad design that fails to read the room “predatory”.
it causes problems inherit in the game. Do you not see whats happening here?
do you know what predatory means?
pred·a·to·ry
/ˈpredəˌtôrē/
adjective
relating to or denoting an animal or animals preying naturally on others.
“predatory birds”
Similar:
predacious
carnivorous
hunting
raptorial
ravening
of prey
raptatorial
seeking to exploit or oppress others.
“new laws have been passed designed to crack down on predatory lenders”
youre saying that the 20$ color that only works with 1 armor core has reusability? Do you even play the game at all dude?
I don’t think you know what reusability means. If you spend money on food, you poop, and it’s gone forever. I buy a cosmetic, it stays for 10+ years, so it’s a reusable value.
Typical toxic Bungie stan that just only exists to hate literally everything since Halo 4. Halo isn’t going back to walking 1 centimeter per hour, but he can always disable sprint and clamber in customs.
And a store with items at current market rates that you see for cosmetics in other games but a bad battle pass ain’t predatory. It’s just bad.
I am not going to lie…I spent some money on some armor (twice…maybe three times) …but yeah the cost is stupid ridiculous. Hopefully the store is on the road map of fixing… or maybe…I don’t know go back to proper character customizations like it was in previous games (beat campaign on this or that setting…find all terminals…find all skulls…get so many kills with xyz weapon…win so many matches…etc…)
Seriously, Fortnite can die and rot.
