343i, are you high?

Wow, I want so much of what’s in the store right now. Too bad no one in their right mind would drop any money on it at these prices.

It’s really too bad, I was hoping to get the Anubis helmet, and these colors are very nice.

What a monumental disappointment.

It’s a shame really. Halo is finally solid in gameplay again, but they castrated customization. Feels bad.

not even a black Friday discount lol

Yep I 100% agree. I’ve wanted the Anubis set since we got a sneak peak way back when. The current prices are holding me back.

Wouldnt it be nice not to be completely bent over to get these armors… I still hold out hope this will be fairly priced in the future, but I’m starting to lose faith. This experience has left me with buyers remorse BIG TIME over the battle pass. Like even to the point where I’m ashamed to wear the reach stuff for being a sellout.

Ah well, fool me once.

Anubis + Purrfect Audio was going to be my “wolf set” but uh, yeah no.

I don’t feel bad about buying the BP though, except for the fact that the little armor I DO like on there (Jun’s) has been RUINED.

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT HELMET HANDLE 343

I get the feeling changes will come to this system soon as well.

At this point, I just want to cry because I really want the Anubis helmet, but the bundle is way too expensive for me right now and well I just want the helmet and maybe the knee pads not everything.
It’s so infuriating to see this. Why are the price so unfair and why can’t we just buy the stuff individually.
I saw a video of Hidden Xperia earlier and I would like it so much if the game could be like he proposed in his video.

Is there a major FTP shooter with similar bundles that are coming in at cheaper prices? I realize this concept is very new and alien to Halo, but their competing with a format here, not the franchise’ legacy. CoD regularly sells operator identity packs at $20. With the very small ones dropping for $16 and the “high-end” dropping for $30. So far the only thing in the shop I’ve seen that was relatively overpriced was that sword belt accessory for $15, now thats insane.

I don’t like FTP in games, but if all you ever spend is $20 bucks on a single armor pack than congratulations you bought a complete Halo MP game for $20, all playable content is free. That’s the flip side to this people don’t see when they’re freaking over prices and misusing the word “predatory”.

Going F2P was a mistake for sure. They have completely destroyed customization all so that they can bilk players of their money.

Love $23 AUD for a Warthog hood ornament and 8… yes 8, of the same coating.

Coatings can continue to sod off and I might, MIGHT, pay $2.30 AUD for the hood ornament

It’s so the camera can be detached and stood up in a stationary position for the soldier to have extra recon on something while having top change location :grinning:. Lore wise lol

While it’s true these might be similar in terms of the wider market for pricing, it’s not wrong to push back. Market be -Yoink!-, Its just not worth the current prices. 343 should take the lead and do BETTER. Not try to take us for all we are worth.

Yeah I looked at the stuff in the store and I could see myself buying the Anubis pack if it were cheaper. But then I looked at the credit price and was like “Nah.”

I’m buying this set tonight just because of this post.
Have a good night.

They aren’t high, and that’s the troubling part. They made these decisions conciously. $15 for a camo skin. $2.99 should be the maximum.

Just wished the shop was a catalog shop instead of this really bad bundle shop cause it sucks to be forced to buy a bundle in which you only want one things and not the rest

Except “playable content” used to include unlocking all the in-game armor. Which would cost $10 for the BP, except for the fact that gets you a FRACTION of the armor.
Also, the store IS predatory. All FOMO practices are. But the store preys on kids and morons who spend money they shouldn’t. The store is ESPECIALLY predatory because it is rotating, meaning that there’s no guarantee if or when any of what appears within will ever appear again. Meaning, say, if I wanted Anubis armor and Purrfect Audio like I said, I would need to buy Anubis NOW at $20 for a helmet if I wanted to be guaranteed that combo. And yet, if not for leaks, we wouldn’t even know purrfect audio exists - and now, even though we do, I have no way of knowing if that combo even looks good. The assets don’t just suddenly disappear when they rotate out of the store, it’s not like they’re a physical creation. It’s literally intentional manipulation.

The rotating store is a massive problem. The prices are a massive problem.

Well, it’s ugly and I hate it lol. Plus the same thing could be accomplished with like fold out feet or something. That handle just looks like a convenient way for a Brute to pop your top off.

Halo is setting a new standard with the Battlepass. They should be the Forerunner of good business practices for F2P.

  1. They would attract a ton more people and make a ton more money
  2. Others would have to follow suit
Capitalism is about BEATING others and forcing prices to stay within reason, not JOINING them. But all these game companies can do it because they have a monopoly on all cosmetics within their game.

Same.

Good for you? You’re free to waste your money however you please. And, when the prices go down and I get the same thing for a fraction of the price, I hope you’ll look back on this moment of smug contrarianism with Regret.
Or don’t. I don’t care.

#doubt that they’re not high. They are stoned out their -Yoink!- minds if they think this is remotely okay.

That’s one component. Bundles should be DEALS, not the only thing on offer.
Another is that the rotating has to go. NO MO FOMO.
And, finally, these prices can -Yoink!- off.

I’m mentally torn on the Reach shoulders available in the shop today. They are cool shoulders that I have occasionally switched to in Reach, but they aren’t my favorite. I’m feeling like the game is pressuring me to get them because all of the current shoulders I have through the pass are just… mediocre? They aren’t cool or anything, just minuscule in appearance (Kat and Jun’s) or ugly chunks of metal (Jorge’s).

The pressure of finally having pauldrons I like, and will probably switch to every now and again, another bundle with shoulders I like more that’s presumable cycling into the daily slot later this week (SAP/OP are in the armory now with “Stay tuned for more details” A.K.A. “They’ll be in the store.”), and the fact that FOMO means I don’t know when they’ll pop back up again has me really close to clicking the buy button.

I’m also neurodivergent (ADHD) and a lot of neurodivergent people have admittedly poor impulse control, which makes everything above feel blatantly more predatory and manipulative.

The Anubis helmet I can skip because to me that’s just one item that looks kinda cool that I have no nostalgic connection to out of several things in a $20 bundle. I can see why 343i would say that this collection of items is $20 and not just the one item you want, but that helmet would be the only thing I want in it, so to me that helmet alone is $20, and way too overpriced.

Where’s that written, exactly? Businesses primary goal is to stay in business, and while sometimes a small part of that is generating good will the larger part of that is not leaving money on the table. If the market shows that people will pay X for Y no one is “responsible” for asking for less. Undercutting actually hurts entire industries if it becomes a common practice (ask a carpenter or anyone in contracting) because customers don’t care for what things actually cost, but their perceived value of the thing.

That all being said, if you don’t like it you should pushback. Don’t buy in if you feel it is inappropriate. That’s the funny thing about FTP that people keep ignoring, you are under no obligation here. If enough people stop taking part in microtransactions and they cease being profitable then the industry will need to find another method, or it’ll be forced to restructure (the AAA space) to prevent going under. In ever single one of these threads my only issue has been misrep of the facts or dramatic hyperbole regarding the complaint. I have no issue with people wanting to opt out, just don’t act like 343i is out of step here or somehow alone in the practice.
