343GS on Halo 1 - Need advice

I’m OCD and I like to keep all of my allies alive during the campaign. I’m playing on Easy difficulty and towards the end of the 6th Halo 1 level “343 Guilty Spark”, there’s a group of 10 Marines that accompany me to the tower where Foehammer is supposed to pick them up. Is there a trick or certain way, any advice, to have get all 10 Marines to survive till the end of the level? The Flood just keep spawning and I’ve spent countless hours just trying to get all 10 of them to live. Thanks in advance.

My advise is to mostly focus on the infection forms; they’ll kill your marines easily. The marines are decent at killing the combat forms on their own; several have shotguns. Don’t stick around one area for too long, Flood will constantly spawn. I would focus first on taking out as many Flood in the first area of the swamp and let the marines lead the way to the middle section where you’re basically in the middle of a little canyon just before the tower area. Without getting too close to the middle section, count your marines and make sure all 10 are there. If you’re missing some head back towards the structure to find the stragglers. Your marines will wait in the canyon until you proceed to the next area and trigger the next Flood group to spawn.

Now that all your Marines are waiting for you in the canyon-like section, here’s what you should do. Start to go into that section and make the Flood spawn that ambush you on both sides. If you have an AR or plasma rifle, switch to it and concentrate again on the Infection Forms on one side of the canyon. I would also put your back on the opposite side of the canyon so the infection forms will most likely focus on you and not the marines. If you’ve killed enough Flood here and your marines are still alive, head towards the tower.

To get 343 Guilty Spark and his Sentinels to spawn you normally need to run up to the tower and touch it. This also spawns lots of Flood which swarm you and generally are able to kill your marines unless they stupidly shoot each other trying to kill the Flood first. Rather than run straight for the tower, hug the left side of the map and work your way around towards the back of the tower. Your marines will follow you and there’s generally less Flood this route. Once you’re behind the tower all you need to do is simply look at it to spawn Spark. The Flood will come to the rear of the tower but they are generally easier to deal with as they don’t swarm as often.

I hope this helps. It’s what I do all the time and 9 times out of 10 I’m able to keep everyone alive and together. Best of luck!
