Brilliant job. Can’t have been easy to translate the core/classic Halo game play to the open world and make it work. But it “just works”. As usual there are technical issues but hopefully I’ll be able to play with increased FPS/graphics on a second play through.
Halo Ce has better balanced gameplay and difficulty , more varried areas , more interesting scenarios and the third party in the form of the flood/Sentinels is in my opinion a much more interesting enemy to fight then what we got in infinite. a simple disection of a few levels
- pillar of autum , a basic close quarters combat level with corridors and rooms that serves mainly as an introduction mission. neither great nor bad.
- Halo , a dedicated semi open world level where the player gets to drive a warthog help and fight alongside marines , and has qute a large selection of weapons to choose and fights the most common types of covenant. this level is in style . gameplay and presentation probably the closest analogue to infinite open world exploration , yet different.
- truth and reconcilation , starting out on a dessert cliffside , a setting that dosent exist in infinite. the first part is a dedicated sniper mission with stealth elements. infnitie has neither ( well you can take a sniper rifle with you but its most of the time not really an effective choice ) Hunters , sword elites get introduced ( bouth invisible and zealots ) , the second part , the assault on the ship is a mixture between corridor assaults and defenses against enemey waves . a sidenote , infinite lacks scenarios where you are fighting alongside marines indoors , and in most main story missions you are basicly alone. this ship youll assault with groups of marines. the last part is a escort , we dont have that neither in infinite.
- the silent catrographer. a popular mission due to its semi open world structure like the level halo . a cool feature of this level is that there is an alternative event structure where you can stumble first upon the activation controlls for the door to the catographer. this level introduces first time the rocket launcher. here you get a lot of varried gameplay . in and outdoor gunfights , warthog gameplay. stealth options and a lot of alternative routes and strategys . there is a reason its such a popular level to speedrun. also the level is on a beachisland , another biome infinite lacks.
- assault on the controll room. varied gameplay , frozen plains with ice surfaces where vehicels start sliding , intrudction to a lot of vehicels. many options to play this level. here you basicly get it all.
- 343 glutiy spark. swamp level , horror elements , introduction to new enemy type , laybyrinth action and jungle fighting . you get my point. if we account for coop options ce gets even deeper . the levels were clearly designed with coop options in mind.
Getting hung up on this “Halo: CE had more biomes” thing ignores all the elements that Halo Infinite has. Dynamic day/night cycles. Reactive AI spawning. The largest Open World map that we have ever had, and the ability to travel to practically any point that we can see.
Now, I’m not going to sit here and argue opinions. That’s pointless, and I’ve a dozen better things to do. But I will say that Halo Infinite doesn’t need a snow level and a swamp level and a lava level to be a good game. The game takes place on a single shattered segment of Zeta Halo; it would make less sense - and be worse for it - to cram a handful of biomes into that small (comparatively) area just to have biomes.
You mean going out of your way to run around walking up to all the little boxes and opening them? Cos without that pointless filler material… man…
Donut, do tell. Just what the blue blazes was the point of that? I get it; you don’t like Halo Infinite. Cookie for you. What do you possibly hope to gain or attain by attempting - weakly - to drag my playing of the game, especially from a post that is two weeks old?
Yes, to answer, I am exploring every nook and cranny of Installation 07 that I can, learning the hidden secrets, the side-stories and audio logs, or just -Blam!-ing around fighting Banished endlessly. Does that bother you, somehow? That someone can actually enjoy the game?
Doesn’t bother me, enjoy yourself. Only thing that bothers me my own inability to see the greatness in this game that deluded fanboys seem to see in it.
