343, You've done it!

thanks for adding that bit about spoilers, I haven’t yet beaten the game myself. It’s my own fault, the open world is so fun I just compulsively do every activity that comes across my tac map!

i was left disapointed at the end that we have no proper end to our story ( probably for the sake of dlc … ) our actions didnt really change much. there also quite a few gameplay problems and if we look at the main quest its quite lacking. if i would just play the games main story missions its probably the most barebones campaign yet. its still more enjoyable to play then h4 and h5 but nowehre near as the classic 3 ones.

7 is still a good score.

Also no more assassination animations those were something that was really cool in every Halo even Halo 5 and Halo 4 had some good assassinations

Hi good to read you had a great time.
I just started and am a few hours in.

I experienced poor performance once you are on the surface. I came from smooth framerates from the warship to a stutter experience once in the open.

But after I updated my AMD driver to 21.12.1 the experience was smooth again.

I‘m really looking forward to the rest of the canpaign.

Cheers Mark

Yes, if you have a newer 5000 or 6000 series card, update to the newest 21.12.1 drivers as they help

If you’re like myself and still on the older RX 500 cards, there’s currently no fix. I did manage to overlook and tweak settings enough to get a constant 30-40 in the open world and 60 solid in the indoor missions.

I currently have an RX 5700 XT. Will updating the drivers fix it?

My current driver version is 27.20.1034.6

I’m totally loving the gameplay l, the open world is everything I ever wanted from a Halo game, but the story is all kinds of meh. I’m not invested, don’t really know who the characters are or who the banished really are.

343 really expects you to have kept up to date with Halo Wars, the comics and books etc to maintain that investment. And this is coming from a person that adores the Halo story, back in the day I read all the books, even made my own timeline of the halo universe. I primarily came to Halo for the story. But this campaign hasn’t given me anything to really care about.

Not sure, but you can always try.

Given how troubled the development cycle of Halo Infinite was, it’s a miracle that the game is this good.
It’s not perfect, I could use more varied environments, but… yeah, it’s a pretty solid Halo campaign, the best one 343 has ever done. Hopefully it will lay a good foundation for the next ones (sequels or expansions) being even better.

I just hope 343 keeps giving us a healthy mix of open and linear levels. Even though the open world sections are fun, I don’t want the linear levels with scripted set-pieces to disappear.

Not to mention that two of those six years were in the middle of a pandemic, which seriously effects produtivity.

And according to Jason Schreir’s report, they scrapped two thirds of the campaign after the delay.

I gave it a try. I have the most recent drivers. No update available. Oh well. I’ll wait until the problem gets fixed. The game is still playable at 20 FPS.

Still haven’t finished it but, yes, it’s a fantastic campaign! Zeta Halo feels like a hyper extended version of the Halo mission from CE, and I love that. It’s a joy to simply zip around with the grappleshot and enjoy the sights and sounds of the ring.

Also, after the disappointing AI in both Halo 4 and 5, I’m very pleasantly surprised at how much more dynamic the enemy and even allied AI is here. Likewise, the folks at 343 who were responsible for the combat chatter deserve immense praise! By far the best implementation of such a system that I’ve seen in any video game.

Also, and this was obvious from the samples that were released before launch, the soundtrack is absolutely amazing! Alex Bhore, Gareth Coker, Curtis Schweitzer, and Joel Corelitz, have made something magical here.

Unless Infinite takes a massive nosedive in quality later on, it’s currently on track to break into my top 3 favorite campaigns in the series.

Sorry to hear mate.
I really do hope they will optimize it better in the near future.

Infinite definitely isn’t a masterpiece of gaming. Not even close. It’s a fun game, don’t get me wrong, but masterpiece means…masterpiece. That isn’t a slight against it though, as almost all games aren’t. Masterpieces are, naturally, rare.

You mean 343 left themselves in a tough spot after Halo 5?

while they technically avoided retconning previous lore they might as well have with how ineffectively they did so. all the enormous odds and power consolidated on either side completely wiped clean conveniently off screen all “explained” with tell, dont show, cutscenes and a few audio logs.

Yeah I loved this campaign. For me the story was great and the characters were amazing. I won’t discuss the story here, but I can’t wait to see where the story goes next.

The only slight criticisms I have are that I’d like to see more varied environments and some of the open world activities were a little tedious, i.e. blowing up propaganda towers.

Oh yeah they drooped the ball hard with 5. But they acknowledged It at least

Not sure how far you got in the campaign but they kinda explain what happened between 5 and infinite near the last couple of missions
