343 you're disgusting for monetizing customization like this

See this is my biggest complaint. Armor should be cross core. Ideal world I would have done things like this.

  • Mark VII : Default Core, Unlocks via in-game progression and achievements, very few things in the Battle Pass, some store items. Trailblazer is the Recon Equivalent and you must do VidMaster style achievements to unlock it.
-Mark IV/V/VI : Battlepass and store items. Classic Armor is easy to monetize, and honestly if you aren’t okay with this model you would have just wanted everything for free(doen’t work like that). This can be used with Mark VII armor and vise versa.
  • Colors and Coatings : Primary, Secondary, Detail. All Customizable with a Basic list of colors. Coatings are more like patterns(what a digicamo spartan, buy the coating and boom your spartan has a digicamo pattern)
  • Visors : Some unlock like Mark VII and others like Mark IV/V/VI
  • Weapon Skins : Some unlock like Mark VII and others like Mark IV/V/VI
  • Vehicle Skins : Some unlock like Mark VII and others like Mark IV/V/VI
  • Poses : Some unlock like Mark VII and others like Mark IV/V/VI
  • Fracture Armor : Free Battle Pass that lasts for the duration the event, cap on weekly progress but the event lasts longer than a week.(This encourages engagement over time)
  • Battle Pass Progression : Everything you do gets you XP, Kills/Assists in PVP/PVE give you the least amount of points (i.e 1 for Assist, 2 for Kills). Medals give you XP based on the Tier( I made a whole post breaking this down, if you’re interested its on my profile). Games completed give you XP, Winning doubles it. Challenges work as they do now, no need to change that system as it works well when it is not the only system. Double XP tokens work on a match basis not a timed basis (Double XP lasts for 5 games instead of 30 minutes).
  • Standard Progression System : Same XP System as the Battle Pass, except it needs to be higher XP amounts per level and increases per level and more filled with content. Have as many if not more ranks than Halo Reach and each level should have MANY unlocks.
  • Custom Games/PVE XP: Non Matchmade modes should provide all XP at a lower rate( i.e 10 kills = 2 XP in Campaign and Customs) Or just have a set XP amount for Customs like 2 XP per custom match.

I have many thoughts about how this game should have/can handle XP Progression, Battle Pass Progression, and unlocks.

I don’t need to get over myself, I just buy the things in the shop. But it is optional, so people who complain do not have a leg to stand on.

I have a wonderful suggestion for everyone upset with the store.

Save money, get stock in MS. It really takes the sting away when you see people spending money on this crap and funding your retirement :grinning:

They DO have a leg to stand on. Cosmetic are part of the CORE Halo experience. Go back to Fortnite.

Imagine investing in MS and not investing in Tesla instead

Who says I haven’t. My portfolio isn’t the issue, it’s the people angry about monetization.

Elon isn’t selling little cosmetics that are the subject of the post, so there is no cathartic response to owning Tesla stock in this situation.

Nice flex attempt though.

“Never go full mobile” and that’s exactly what they did. Worst monetization system I have ever seen in a game, monetizing playlists. Just disgusting.

Then why post in this thread if you don’t have an opinion with any weight to it?

Big Facts! My view is different because I’m 28 now with a salary job so, I don’t think paying some money each month is the worse, but as a kid or high school student this really is pure B.S.

No. But they are removing parts of a game that should be inherently there. If they decided you needed to pay $5 to play a match, no one is forcing you too, but it would still be ridiculous and worthy of a complaint.

I really don’t understand how they have to test them in events and work on them. these have all been modes that have been in prior halo games and should have 100% been in from the start. what is there to work out except for to just implement them into game they not reinventing the wheel and making something from the ground up. it’s just complete bs and really just shows that they honestly had no intention from the start to add new modes or If they did they were probably planning on making them paid. this whole game going f2p leading them to this crap progression system and cosmetic/shop just to milk players is exactly what I was worried about. the monetization is soo grimy… like somethings can only be bought with real money what happpened to saying it was going to be like reach customization. I should be able to purchase everything with in game currency and everything should be unlockable and these armor core bs is the dumbest thing ever. they shouldn’t be locked I should be able to put w.e equipment on that I want and mix and match and adjust the colors not just some crap pallete swap… the game is fun but I’m beyond disappointed with the customization and just the greetings of trying to get money from people and the lack of maps and playlists and legacy weapons. why remove the og shotty for this garbage bulldog… most of the new weapons are terrible the pulse carbine and disruptor and commando are all pretty much worthless… add more weapons in bring back more covenant and promethian weapons… I would have much rather have paid full price for the game and gotten the campaign and multiplayer and able to unlock all the cosmetics and have all the modes and weapons like h3 and reach without paying thousands of real money for a -Yoink!- armor piece or shader that can only work on one armor core that I don’t even use, who the hell thought that was a good idea? it’s just bs and I feel this is such a bait and switch. we shouldn’t support terrible business practices like this. it’s ruining the game and the industry. I hope they continue to listen to people to change all this crap that they originally planned to just milk people cause the game won’t last long If they don’t. I’m in my 30s and have been playing halo since day 1 with halo ce and I’m just beyond disappointed at how it’s turned out and it’s just a cash grab instead of living up to promises and making a good game. I seriously hope all this stuff gets listened too and gets fixed.

As a college student on a rather limited salary. If I dont need I simply dont buy it. For me it doesnt impact gameplay.

This is an assumption, but based on Tenrai event, I think its a way to get people free ways to unlock new sets, cores, XP, emblems, backgrounds, ect . It will allow them to drip the free content out longer. It will also buy them time to make new modes. So instead of a rotating playlist its a rotating event with a rotating playlist.

Each new event will probably include a new Core and set to chase. Each event will last a season, with each season having a new theme.

They are just terrible at marketing that to the fans.

But…If I put on my Tinfoil hat and go full “Charlie”.

They need to sell challenge swaps, XP and create FOMO.
So they create Limited Events with stuff to chase and buy.
They make the events fan favorite playlists they know the Community love.
Rotate it out every month so players don’t get too happy or unlock free stuff too early
Put all the cool stuff in the store
Don’t release a roadmap to the fans so they don’t know what they want, so they don’t save all their swaps for what they want, and only play the events they want.
Use the mode you know people will be chasing as a way to inflate player counts so you can tell the story you want.

“Pepe Silvia!!!”

Again, I think they had good intentions on this being a way to get free content to fans, they just didn’t account for how rabid the fan base way for the game. They should have tho.

And for many people this situation is real and not a good move to purchase ingame content. I am happy with the unique items that can be earned through various events.
