I’m not sure why I’m posting this because I know no one from 343 reads these things or even cares, but here it goes anyways.
Competitive and Casual. I like to think I’m a hybrid of both. While these two communities most certainly have their opinionated differences about what makes Halo fun to them, the one thing both parties can agree on is that at one point or another, they love(d) Halo at its core.
Like my topic entitles, you are catering to the wrong crowd and I am shocked that you haven’t seen this yet. You are catering to gamer that buys a new game every time a new one comes out. The person that bought Halo 4 and is already playing Gears of War: Judgement. The gamer that plays that for a month before buying Grand Theft Auto 5. Now, there’s obviously nothing wrong with playing new games, but after a while the casual and competitive players…no, the Halo players come back to their beloved Halo and play Halo. The changes you’ve made and the reasoning behind your changes (GDC) have shown that you care extremely little about your die hard fan base and it shows in the population numbers. In the past, those players that would buy a new game, and then come back to Halo, have disappeared.
We have spoken out time and time again on your flaws and how we, the die hard Halo community want our Halo game to be, yet you choose to ignore us.
Stop catering to the gamer that leaves your game after a month or two! Listen to the crowd that has continued to play Halo for years on end! You’ll get the millions of sales anyways, so you might as well listen to us on how we enjoy our Halo experience. Continuing the track you’re on right now will only destroy the series we all love. And if you continue this terrible spiral, I hope it crumbles at your feet so I no longer have to waste my time with you and the terrible game you call “Halo”.
> I’m not sure why I’m posting this because I know no one from 343 reads these things or even cares, but here it goes anyways.
It’s therapeutic, man. I understand.
What if they’re catering to the people who have played it for years and like what Halo 4 is.
Like me.
What was it like 11,500,000 players have played the game? Where are they now?
Of course they are catering to the wrong crowd but hey, once they fail on Halo 5 and Microsoft starts culling the tree from the top we’ll all be laughing.

People like you disgust me.
You are functioning under the assumption that they care about ANYTHING other than immediate profit. You’re talking about the people who sold month 1 DLC on a broken game that has less content than its predecessor.
You’re talking about the people who implemented Action Sack BEFORE community designs on a game with only a few maps. If they cared AT ALL about maintaining a community that extended the lifespan of this game then none of this would have been done.
The fanbase you’re talking about is their primary target. They have chosen the EXACT level of profit they intend to maintain.
If you want to be constructive, if you want to fix the series, don’t buy their DLC and don’t buy the next game until it becomes clear that they understand that the community decides the progress of this series.

I laugh every time some one invites me to play H4.
343 doesn’t care. All they want to do is erase everything Bungie did. I called it a couple months ago that this game would be dead soon and sure enough the population is already in the low 40k range after just 5 months with every playlist except for infinity slayer being completely dead.
The sad thing is 343 actually thinks they did a good job and gave the players what they wanted. They said so at the GDC.
The Halo we knew and loved is dead and gone. This is just a sinking ship now that all the real Halo fans have jumped off of.

Well you sir are the “minority” that they like to call the competitive community. Is it hard to see that they made a game that caters to a community that barely plays their game, and the one’s used to, no longer play their game?
If the competitive community truly were the “1%” why is Halo at an all-time low for population numbers? While the competitive community may be “small” in comparison to overall Halo players, it shows in the population numbers that even the casual gamer wants a game that is balanced and “feels” like a Halo game they’ve played in the past.

So what you are saying is you wanted them to turn Halo into a very bad Call of Duty clone?

I bought BLOPS2 and guess what there are 400,000 to 500,000 peak pop daily. Even though I still think CoD sucks. I just dont see any FPS games that are good any more. Every single FPS out there is made cheaper than the last, its all about cutting costs and jacking up profits these days. Every thing out there costs more while they give less and less. We are dumb for buying it.

No, I understood it. And what I’m telling him is that he is in the minority. Even though he loved past Halo’s, and loves Halo 4, he’s still in the minority and the population numbers speak for that. And I know there are people out there that still play this game because it is Halo, like me unfortunately. I wish everyone that had the same feelings as I do, would not play for a day or two, and then the population would truly be dwindling down and show 343 just how many people enjoy their game.
And no offense to the people that like Halo 4, but I guarantee it’s because you’re not very good at Halo and that’s fine. But the fact that you’re able to deal with a random ordnance drop just tells me right there that you’re not very good and don’t understand the necessities of a good balanced game.
For a community that no longer plays this game, people sure to complain about everything that happens to the game alot.
In fact I’ve seen people on this forum that have stated they don’t play Halo 4 anymore who constantly complain at little thing.
I swear, its like until 343 turns around and says “Sorry, we’re giving everyone free copies of a new Multiplayer that is nothing like our version of the game” No one is gonna stop posting hate threads.
Something that was posted a few days ago caught my attnetion, and it made laugh.
The question was posed to the idea of “OK, you don’t like the changes in Halo since Reach, if you could go back to Halo 3 and build up from there what innovations would you make the game have to make it better?”
And no one could answer with anything more than “not this”.
It seems like the hate threads want the game to go backwards, stay there, and never move. But at the same time, want it to be better than before, but have no idea how that would be accomplished. And finally then complain about everything that has been done, because its not the way it should be, but offer no idea as to what that “should be”.
This “community” is laughable.

Take a look bro, the population can barely crack 40k even on weekends.
If you like this game you are either in the very small minority or you are lying to yourself just because it says Halo on the box.

Are you serious? If you haven’t seen the infinite amount of posts about glaring and obvious flaws about Halo 4 you must have joined today, looked only on the first page, and have never been to another Halo message board. We “complain” because we want to play the Halo we’ve all known and loved (CE-3), not this garbage gimmicky stuff. I’m all for Halo evolving and bringing forth innovative ideas. However, when you start changing core elements of the game is when you start messing up very badly.
Everyone laughs at how Call of Duty never changes. Yeah, well kudos to them for keeping their core gameplay in tact while adding new innovative ideas without destroying their sandbox.

I only play COD because I figure its better to play the real thing with an actual community than to play some bad clones.
I agree with you completely though. The FPS genre is in a terrible place right now. We don’t have tactical shooters like Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon anymore. We don’t have arena shooters like Halo and Unreal anymore. Its literally just COD and clones.
