There needs to be lots of change happening ASAP.
Are upper management NOT men or women? Look, 343 is the only entity that can take responsibility for the state of the game - this is uncontestable. What is contestable is grouping all 343 employees into the category of blithering incompetent monkeys who escaped from a zoo devs who seem to be face rolling a keyboard. You’re right the failure is vertical and spans to the top.
This is the issue: we don’t know the teams or their responsibilities but the end product is indicative of poor project management. But poor project management is conceptual and not a person or team - whose responsible for the poor project management? Is it the PM’s fault or did they do the best with what they had? We can make general assumptions but can’t account for all variables: what was the workload of all teams? What were the deadlines? Which teams were reliable? Which teams were problematic? What unexpected events occurred? etc, etc. Thankfully we’re also not responsible for the inquisition that should be the project’s post-mortem where some of those questions should be answered.
Coming back to your point, leadership is definitely at fault: I don’t know why they thought launching the game over a holiday after a sprint/death march that ended on the cusp of a holiday was a good idea. And it certainly could be the grouping of employees referred to as devs are being unfairly slammed because the best they could manage within the deadline they were given wasn’t up to Players’ expectations.
If we wanted to get pinprick specific about where responsibility for the poor gameplay experience currently lies I’d start with the team(s) responsible for the networked aspect of the game - whether code or infrastructure the network issues - Latency, Packet Loss, and general lag/desync - are consistently agitating and siphon the fun from the game.
Big Halo fan here. Into the lore and all that. Used to replay campaigns religiously since CE, when I did have Xbox Gold I very much enjoyed wiping teams in SWAT.
Infinite is a decent game. I’m waiting for the DLC to explore the Endless further, and to fill in what we don’t have info on yet, like BREAKER TRIP.
I have no idea what ship is sinking. Can flying ships sink?
The lack of playlists is disgusting… 6 years or however long and not even team doubles or snipers lol what a joke
Team Doubles is needed much more than Snipers, but Snipers definitely still belongs.
Or, rather, continuing to address what I have been since entering this thread.
And there are plenty that do not. To say “Your hardcore fans are…” in the manner you did does treat us all as a monolith, as though we’re all just scourging ourselves and suffering until things return to some idyllic state. A notion that I will forever oppose.
Didn’t 343 take a sledgehammer to our hearts back in 2012?
You’re putting words in my mouth.
Troll someone else dude.
Im not a hardcore halo fan but i can say one thing. This game company is horrible, always has been. They are trying to appeal to the mlg side of Halo to save the franchise but Halo should of died years ago. It is just here now to milk your wallet.
Ironic from someone who’s statements very much read to be speaking for others. Next time perhaps take care how you word things, and recognize that there is division even among “Hardcore” fans.
Splitgate is a little disappointing.
After 10ish hours of It I put it down for good.
It feels nothing like Halo, it only superfically looks like Halo because of the FPS Layout.
Splitgates TTK is almost Half that of Halo.
So it only promotes playing “Landing the first shot” to with most fights.
That and its level designs are awful.
Because of the portals, they need to design every level to be this mess of walls. and not a finely crafted arena with geometry and cover.
Someone didn’t play 300+ hours of Valve’s portal games.
Been playing since CE, I agree with you.
Not sure what this other guy is on.
The UI is not Solid or stable, core Gameplay without updated content gets stale quick. And the game was pitched to us as a Live Service so we gave up things such as Customozation unlocks through regular grinding. And custom color customization. So far the trade off has not been worth it.
We lost things on our end and they haven’t held up their end.
If your playing more that 100 hours of Portal you have very serious mental health issues that need to be resolved lmao.
That or you turned your friend into a target of the Hitman you hired to kill him.
Either way,
I don’t see how its relevant lmao.
Honestly If they were going to do Free to play, that mode only works well with Battle royal and maybe like a large scale firefight mode… But not with their multiplayer.
Apperantly if they add more stuff the UI has a fit and breaks like 5 others things but then touching one
- Portal
- Portal 2
- Portal 2: Peer Review
- Portal Still Alive
- Portal Stories VR
- Portal Stories Mel
- Aperature Hand Lab
- Bridge Constructor Portal
- Portal 2: Sixsense
- Thinking with Time Machine
- Pinball FX2: Portal Pinball
- The Lab
You know… the works.
Easy to get 300+ hours of fun.
Combine Portal strats with Halo strats to get good at Split-Gate.
Making a sniper nest using portals while barely moving from the ground level REALLY trips people up.
Thats more or less why I gave up on it.
Its the high level strat that is nearly impossible to counter, which sadly killed the game for me.
There is like, 20+ spots on Bazaar that you need to be constantly focused on.
By the time I spot them, they will have popped me in the head.
Even if I’m being generous and say that even half of those are Valid.
that is still 200 hours more than anyone should ever play lmao.
Just between 1+2 anything over 100 hours is a lot.
God even when I had people to play the testing initiative with, it was at most an additional 15-20 hours of play with a friend. Portal2’s main story only takes 7-8 hours. And then maybe 10ish hours with the custom chambers.
+
The 2 Hour experience with Portal 1.
One does not simply say “no” to Valve games.
